Can't vote as none of them resemble my choices. This is part of it. The rest is primarily these two issues: and Right there. It's not JUST an overhaul of the sizing scale. It's something that requires digging in and reworking multiple systems (including mapping). A lot of effort expended for basically NO realistic returns.

Electric Melee / Shield Defense how much is enough?

Yes and no. The more he has, the less susceptible to Cascading Defense Failure they are. And it may just be an unintentional side effect of their build process. And, looking at it, it is. He's actively hunting up S/L Resistance and getting lots of additional S/L/Melee Defense. That being said, Not sure why there's 2 slots in Hurdle. Yank it out and stick it in Combat Jumping. Toss in a Def/End. Go Agility for Alpha. You should have basically NO problems with Endurance. In my place I might forgo one of the Obliteration sets (since you're already so S/L/Melee Defense-rich), even if you lose some S/L Resistance out of it and go Armageddon + Force Feedback proc in one of your AoE Teleport attacks. Exactly. Healing/Regen is *NOT* (and I repeat *NOT*) "mitigation". But it doesn't mean it's not still a part of a Brute/Scrapper/Tank's bag of tricks.

I'm not sure about such a build's place in-in game. It's essentially a Stalker which trades damage for team buff. So, yeah, it's a boon to it's team. And it kills slower than a tank...

Not really. And on my Perma-Lightform PB, my Rad/Rad, Fire/Fire and Elec/Elec with maxed-as-possible Resist, I don't have to especially watch my Health bar either. And all *I* am saying is that it's not as dependable as maxing Resists when you're on a build with no DDR.

Is 45% valuable? Sure. Is 45% that goes into cascading Defense failure after the first hit LANDS as useful as it would be on a build rocking DDR? No. ESPECIALLY so for a TANK, where DURABILITY is a consideration and who many these days subject to exceptionally high levels of difficulty.

Rad was my first venture into Massive Resistance Tanking. And don't get me wrong. With the newer IO sets, it makes MRT EASILY doable Basically I went through the 1-35 game running +2x8 using the Def > Resist formula. And it works! Then I high higher level Arachnos... And I simply couldn't stay alive! I even cranked it back down and limited the mob sizes. I was still getting shamed (not beaten, SHAMED) left and right. And I could track it all back to the point when my Defense became compromised. I basically cracked like an uncooked egg. And, because I'd compromised my build to favor Defense over Resist, once they'd chomped into my soft center...END OF LINE. So, I had a bunch of spare Inf and lots of RMs. I spend a couple hours tweaking in Mids, rebuilt for Resist > Def, and the experience COMPLETELY changed. It was such a huge difference that, upon hitting 50 on my Rad/Rad, I re-engineered my Fire/Fire and my Elec/Elec the same exact way. I did something similar with my PB too (running Perma-Lightform). Dear GOD has it made a huge difference in playability and fun factor. All of them still have a slathering of Defense. But now, I basically look during something like an ITF and go "OH GOD! -74% Defense! What EVER shall I do? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" and cram my foot so far up a Surgeon's kiester that when I wiggle my toes it looks like he's talking... Now all we need are art assets for Cimeroran Surgeon Slippers...

Uh, the FF proc is a 10% chance for a 5 second burp of +100%. Also, Mids is mistaken. The proc doesn't stack. It simply refreshes the 5 second duration.

Oblits are "okay" in click-powers when your build is already well managed for Endurance Recovery. But putting them in ALL your PBAOE is nuts. The Endurance Reduction is just totally inadequate. And, as noted, you're rocking 0% Defense Debuff Resistance. So the second one of these Debuffs land, your Defense rapidly Goes Away. Once that happens, if you're dealing with compromised Resists, you're in trouble. Like putting a jackhammer into a big crack in a concrete slab. If given a choice between 75% Resists and 45% S/L Defense or 90% Resists and 25% S/L Defense, I'd prefer the latter. Because, in a Defense crash, 90% Resist will still survive almost anything.

And if you can do without some of the extra Recharge and Fast Healing... Still not a Resist-monster, but the Defense are generally better. Just remember that Resist-centric sets have NO NATIVE DDR! So slapping you with Defense Debuff basically just hits for full value. This means that jacking around your build to load up as much Defense as possible can be self-defeating. Because if you jacked around too much, you compromised on your Resists or short-changed your attacks. So in situations where DDR flies fast and loose, you're going to get stripped naked in short order and, because your Resists are compromised, you basically eggshell. Whereas, if you concentrate on squeezing out your Resists, and are able to slather a layer of defense (albeit, probably a lesser one), your performance curve should be much flatter in terms of surviveability.
