  1. There have been a few rare instances IRL, where I have heard that distinctive hum of a "glowie" in real life, (or at least close enough to it to trigger memories of playing the game). In that case, my first reaction is to look around for some key item, only to quickly catch myself and feel embarrassed...
  2. AFAIK, no one gets control sets as a secondary, so it's hard to say if they could be adequately scaled down to fit such a secondary roll. I suppose you'd have to reduce their duration and other effects; Lowering the magnitude would be to great of a reduction in their effectiveness, IMO.
  3. Not that I agree with it, but I think that some people want to be able to wear a costume piece, knowing that no one else who hasn't completed some task or set of tasks/conditions, couldn't show off said accomplishment. If you allow everyone to choose how they get access to such stuff, then person A, who has grinded out some "Kill X enemies" task doesn't have anything over the person that simply chose to cut out the middleman...
  4. Well, I think it's more a matter of finding ways to proliferate the assault, manipulation and summoning sets, likely via new ATs. One of the common ways of doing that, that I've observed, is to remove the direct attacks from the MM sets and replace them with something that's complimentary to or fills in the gaps of whatever other set you pair it with. For instance, maybe have an assault set as the primary, and a MM summon as the secondary, only with the attacks replaced with 2 shields and a mez protection power.
  5. Go back and read what I wrote, because you are blatantly ignoring that "ally-only" and "enemy only" are conditions separate from oil slick arrow's. Sorcery's enflame is actually more versatile because it has a function vs allies or enemies. Now, if they added an additional effect to oil slick arrow, where it did something different if it were hit with cold, negative energy, smashing, lethal, or psi, then maybe you'd have a point. You cannot take poison, as a MM, without having access to henchmen. In fact, they modified the set for ATs that don't have them. If they didn't, then again you'd have a point. You don't need to go outside of your primary for that, either.
  6. No argument there. Ally-only and enemy-only powers are commonplace and well-established in CoH's history. Name me any other power that requires a power outside of the set and of a specific damage type, in order to trigger its full effect...
  7. Then your time must be worth very little...
  8. Comments made in a super hero videogame forum have no value If they do for you, then you have a sad sad life Oh the irony...
  9. Which goes to my point, that only TA lacks a way within the set to make full use of all its power effects. I.E., other MM secondaries don't need to reply upon the origin starter powers or APPs/PPPs in order to use one of their other powers.
  10. Does that requirement apply to, for instance, radiation? Do /dark MMs need to dip into a pool power in order to make full use of their secondary? When was the last time you heard /kin MM say "If I take mace mastery, then I can make full use of transference"...
  11. I was thinking more of Tank Girl or perhaps the DC Bombshells line. The girl on the left kind of reminds me of Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop, too. I also kind of get a "Dirty Pair" vibe...
  12. Honestly, I don't think the more "mundane" office or citizenry would have all sorts of holo-tech. Replace the CRT monitors with flatscreens and update the look of the computer towers, but keep it at that. The cutting-edge labs and such, sure, but not the run-of-the-mill places. Maybe show some people with a holo device like when we use the police radio, or have them netion it. Perhaps add a few arcade-like locales, with regular and high-end VR/holographic entertainment, too.
  13. Perhaps it could be phrased as "If someone other than the mission owner enters first, the level of any enemies encountered may be adjusted to them, instead of what the reputation is set to".
  14. I dislike fighting Carnies on a melee character - I wish there was a little more of a delay before their PBAoE end drain effect goes off, so you can at least move out of range. As another poster mentioned, the Illusionists are also quite annoying, as they seem to phase on a timer, so you can't even lock them down. The decoy phantasms they summon are also quite annoying. It would be nice if they added a way to deal a "killing blow" to downed Freakshow, as a way of preemptively taking out any rezzers. Whenever you're fighting a bunch of darkness using enemies, you can be assured that many whiffs are in your near future, (unless you can reliably take out or lock down the group before wading in). A similar situation arises when fighting groups of Arachnos and all their psi attacks - many stacked slows make for a sad panda...
  15. Given the kind of anecdotes I've heard regarding the "spaghetti code" that is CoH, it wouldn't surprise me if such a feature as a "Buy Back" option would require a lot of work. I mean, you'd basically have to cache the last few transactions of every player...
  16. A better option, IMO, would be to add something like a little vestibule in each mission entrance, which cannot be opened until the mission owner has zoned in, (and the map would actually populate with enemies at that point).
  17. Well, some do, and it's not like you can't just take tough/weave or get more defense/resist from IOs... If we were talking about unlimited development resources, then sure, add ALL the options!
  18. While I'm all for more options, you have to keep in mind that the powers in those pools are basically pulled from existing sets...
  19. You do get access to different builds, so you can do things like take fighting/sorcery/etc for your solo build, and more team-centric stuff for your other one...
  20. Well, inventions and their associated recipes & salvage weren't there at launch, and SOs are very easily replaced, so they probably didn't think it'd be necessary...
  21. This sounds like an idea with no tradeoff. For instance, you pick a scrapper/brute/etc that is easier to level up quickly as 1 build, then a much more difficult AT as your secondary, and reap all the benefits of both with no drawback. Instead, I'd rather see more hybrid ATs introduced and/or have those ATs or powersets that are underperforming looked into...
  22. Agreed; It's an unknown quantity at this point. Even allowing us to tic a box via the powers menu, after taking the pool power(s), would be great...
  23. Maybe they could implement some repeatable in-zone missions, such as patrolling waypoints, defeating a certain number of enemies of a given type, rescuing some civilians that are being mugged, etc. The problem with the system proposed by the OP is that all it'll really do is get people in the zone for just long enough to get the reward, then they'll go back to being just as empty as they are now. Perhaps give out some merits for doing a few, or allow us to select a reward that is level-appropriate to our characters...
  24. Or implement some sort of "buy back" feature for vendors...
  25. Simply put, I'd love an option to have color picks for powers apply to power pools/APPs/PPPs that our characters take later on in their careers. It's kind of annoying to go through the trouble to choose colors for your primary & secondary, then have to run to the tailor or a trainer to change the colors on your power pools and pay a fee. I envision this as working via a checkbox next to your primary or secondary power pick, similar to the option to have the color selection apply to the entire powerset. Your thoughts?
