Skirmisher Archetype Concept: Assault/Armor Tank
biostem replied to Steampunkette's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I can't recall if I made a similar suggestion or just responded in someone else's thread, but one idea was to remove the MM attacks from their primary sets, replace them with themed armor toggles, then give them something like an assault secondary plus a fitting inherent... -
Skirmisher Archetype Concept: Assault/Armor Tank
biostem replied to Steampunkette's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
APPs/PPPs already provide ranged options for melee ATs and melee options for some ranged ATs. Personally, I'd rather see something besides attacks/armor or armor/attacks., but it looks like a well detailed suggestion! -
Claws tend to have fast recharges on the powers, and you generally only need like 3-4 attacks to have a solid attack chain, so skipping the fastest T1 attack isn't a bad move to make, especially if there are other options that would serve you better down the line...

Old Mech Donald - Mapserved 50 - What the *BLEEP* do I do now?!
biostem replied to BILL_C's topic in Mastermind
What!? Not nature secondary? What are you "farming", inertia??? 😝 -
I would add-in this point to clarify that the uniform need not reflect the *actual* appearance of your character, to help avoid any confusion. PBs and WSs are energy beings with human hosts, so they'd, for the most part, appear as normal humans unless transformed into a nova, dwarf, or possibly light form...

Of course they are entitled to place whatever restrictions they want, but that doesn't mean it makes sense to an outside observer... Do they not accept blue-skinned aliens or people with animal features?

Except Superman/Clark Kent outwardly appears perfectly human. How would that work for someone clearly non-human? Are you taking the approach that they employ active holo-emitters or something?

In a world of meta-humans, aliens, mutants, and other such atypical people, why would the height and face options be restricted?

I tend to take vorpal on my melee characters, since it's a "ranged-melee attack", (the optional def bonus is nice, too)...

The base stealth power won't allow you to get up to melee range for most enemies, but it will allow you to get closer. Stack it with a stealth IO to widen that margin. It's an edge to allow better positioning, but not the level of invisibility that stalkers, for instance, can get with their hide power...

Merits, IMO, are one of those things you want desperately at first, and then, as you keep playing that character, you accumulate more than you can use...
-
I have specifically avoided the lightning/elec judgment power specifically because of the longer animation; IMHO, that is the price you pay for the increased damage, high target count, and optional AoE hold...

I don't typically play blasters, when when I do, I try to take on groups with the advantage of surprise, (I almost always take some stealth power), and with an overwhelming opening salvo - The nuke is one way to achieve this, and with the right build/set bonuses it can be made available quite often.

Can someone explain Enhancement Diversification to me here?
biostem replied to Black Gryphon's topic in General Discussion
It's because you are its underling and it, the boss... -
Looking at the screenshot again, at least to me, her eyes match the hottest part of the sword, which seems appropriate. I tend to similarly match any eye aura to the hottest/brightest part of other glowing effects on the character, because it just seems they should be equally as intense...

I'd suggest Soul Mastery - Gloom is a solid ranged attack, but the real star is Darkest Night, which will debuff an enemy's damage and tohit - 2 things that will give your regen brute time to heal up or avoid attacks altogether...

Yes, remove the aggro cap, but at the same time, make healing, debuffing, buffing, and ranged attacks generate more aggro than taunt - those are the real threats! -

Sure. All of which make less sense than simply calling upon a VTOL aircraft. Notice that I never fully dismissed the idea... -
Allow Masterminds to choose their weapons
biostem replied to Annapuma's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Conversely, how about suggesting ideas that actually work within the confines of how the game already operates, instead of trying to shoehorn in some kludgy system to fulfill a highly specific request that only impacts 1 AT... -

biostem replied to Techwright's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
One thing Tron seemed to imply was that something of the original programmer "carries over" or otherwise influences the appearance and behavior of a program, so it could be as simple as the MCP creating a backup of itself, or even possibly "rectified" another program to its own ends... -

This is my recollection as well; Fighting like +5's or such without the "purple patch", thereby removing the steep drop-off in player tohit and the dramatic increase in enemy damage, or some-such... -

S.T.A.R.T. vendor Inherent Travel Power that is just a car
biostem replied to Rigged's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The ones where you can actually see your character are pretty neat, I'll give you that, but the implementation is still very haphazard, IMO. The idea of a car for TT isn't a bad one - the player could explain it away in many different ways, but it still makes less sense than a Longbow or Arachnos VTOL craft... -

The date and technology level is kind of vague in-game. We do not, in fact, have any evidence that there is or should be such a crossover with real-world companies or services. IMHO, you are more likely to find someone who miniaturized portal technology and offering those services, than regular people providing ride-sharing ones. The problem is, I've played a game where you can acquire and utilize vehicles - Champions Online - and it is a surprisingly uninteresting and un-fun experience, once you actually get to experience it. Sure, it may fit a narrow, specific concept or certain RP reasons, but in actual implementation? Not so much... -

This, I think, is the biggest open-ended question; Even if we handwave that you can convert matter into energy/code that can function in/on "The Grid", why would that impart super-powers to entities brought over from one realm to the other, (even ignoring whether programs can exist in the real world or not), we saw Flynn have powers within The Grid beyond what other programs can do, but at least there, it was a universe with its own laws...
