  1. I hate to say it, but while I like Fade and Soul Absorbtion, losing Fearsome Stare is a big trade that i'd rather not forego. For Defenders and Corrupters (and Masterminds too), that's an amazing power to have, giving a solid bout of control alongside a significant -ToHit (enough to rival Fade's defense bonus). It's an amazing opener solo with enough recharge to be up every fight and it also procs really well if you're looking for more damage. I would trade Petrifying Gaze for Soul Absorbtion immediately though. Petrifying Gaze isn't really set-defining. It's a hold with literally nothing else, easily skipped since you'll probably get a hold from your Epic set that also does damage and might include a debuff of any kind.
  2. I think the lore states that the DE attacked from below, which pretty much avoided the fences altogether. Keyes turned the fences around to stop what forces had gotten through, but it seems they don't care what with the Seed casually flying around the ruins on a constant basis.
  3. Devouring Earth are a constant threat, and the city of Praetoria is one of the last remaining pockets of humanity that hasn't fallen. Even with Cole and Hamidon's bargain, I could see Devouring Earth forces making a move if it appears their defenses are weakened. With enough Seers out to limit their alerts and enough PPD down weakening their defenses, they could make a move. And First Ward has shown that the sonic fences around the city are not enough to keep them out.
  4. I tried to trigger this event out of curiosity but I ran into a issue. Where the hell are the Seers in Nova? I ran up and down the whole zone while my timer was running and I could only find maybe four of them outside of the Protest event, which i'm not sure the event Seers even count. You'd think they've be all over the Magisterum or near the Precints, but nope. Nada.
  5. I think with Praetorian Hamidon, it would probably be more ideal to summon a GM level Avatar of Hamidon instead of our giant single-cell Hamidon from Primal Earth.
  6. Vigilantes can still do all blueside content, even stuff labeled Hero. Even if it conflicts with your morality, the day still needs to be saved. It works both ways too, Rogues can still do Villain things. Actually the current state of the game, I don't think anything is locked for Vig/Rogues.
  7. There's one half built in the redside area of Kalisti Wharf. Also the arena has spectator modes, watching your favorite supers duke it out has to be exciting in some capacity.
  8. Which mission? There's one specific mission in Mu Vhrakam's arc (Find info on David Hazen) that locks you out of conventional hospital trips, including the base hospital, due to the nature of where you are. Might be other missions that do that but I know for a fact that one does. Missions that resurrect you within the mission if you go to the hospital might just lock out all other hospital options, many such cases are things like running away from Mot where the mediporter would basically be cheating.
  9. I couldn't tell you how it happened, all I know is that Mr. X started attacking a nearby Injured PPD when he got close to them before I aggroed. They're still targetable so there might be an issue with hostility flags in the mission.
  10. In Roy Cooling's mission to Find Lawrence Hawkins, you have five minutes to rescue twelve Injured Rouge PPD members before the building burns down to get the No One Left Behind badge. You also have to rescue Lawrence from Mr. X at the end of it. It's entirely possible to Mr. X and his group to aggro any injured PPD who might be nearby and they can kill them before you have a chance to rescue them, preventing you from getting the badge in an already annoying and very strict timed mission sequence.
  11. I use Mystic Flight/Hover on a Rad/Regen Sentinel. Quick Recovery helps offset Mystic Flight's end cost so I can keep it on in combat. I like to use Translocation to put myself in the pack of enemies, then drop Irradiate, my epic PBAoE, and then Atomic Blast all at once to knock a good chunk of the group down fast. Of course that's late game, but being able to fly away helps with Regen's lackluster defensive capabilities. A protip with Sentinels and Mystic Flight, Sentinel's version of Aim comes with a range bonus when active. That range bonus works with Translocation, letting you teleport extremely long distances in short bursts. Great for long travel spots.
  12. In Special Agent Jenni Adiair's mission to Stop Protean's Invasion, despite having worked with the 5th Column the entire operation, Protean is allied with Council members when you go to fight him in a group or if your player slider is above 1 (he is alone if solo and x1). While it does make sense for Protean to work with whatever group would accomplish his goals, here he's standing in the middle of a 5th Column base and you had to fight several 5th Column members to reach him. He is even considered 5th Column himself when you target him.
  13. In Dark Watcher (Praetoria)'s mission to rescue a captive Longbow soldier from the PPD, the PPD Sergeant guarding him has placeholder text for a description. Other Sergeants in the world don't have placeholder text, so this one seems to be an anomaly.
  14. Is this a typo, poor wording, or am I misunderstanding something. During Aaron Walker's arc in Neutropolis, if you bring Jim Donner to Noble Savage, Savage gets his memories back, but recalls Neuron's words a little strangely... "...dump him, tell no one that James Noble is dead..." This line seemingly contradicts the story which set up that James Noble was killed in action in his duties for the PPD and all of Praetoria is well aware, including a monumental memorial service held in his honor. Which is it Neuron?
  15. One of the other major servers (Thunderspy I think) added alternate teleports a few months ago if I recall. There was the trailer they put out where they had different animations, such as the lightning bolt (/em ultimatepower), Serene's murder of crows, Maelstrom's vortex and the Lore summoning. Would be neat to have those on hand.
  16. I've never been a Tanker type, the low damage never suited me, but I leveled a Fire/DB to 50 and had a blast with it. DB is nothing spectacular but it is pretty fun and has some good animations. Don't worry too much about the combo mechanics, the extra effects they provide are a little lacking (though the Vital Strike chain can do some nice damage). I just prefer slotting Avalance and Overwhelming Force procs into Typhoon's Edge and Sweeping Strike and call it a day; big AoEs and knocking everything over. Meanwhile Fire armor isn't the toughest but where it lacks in defense it makes up in offense. Fiery Aura comes early and is a solid damage aura, Burn is an excellent extra AoE attack and Fiery Embrace gives you a massive damage bonus for a short while; about 40% more damage per attack as additional fire damage that also scales with enhancements. You'll be slicing up foes with hot knives as if they were butter. The set also offers a self-heal and a PBAoE Endurance recovery power to minimize downtime. With some building you can get solid resists too. I was able to cap S/L resists alongside Fire resist while also getting most everything else above 60%, even Psi (Toxic resist can be capped by spamming Healing Flames). The biggest problem the set has is a lack of Knockback protection, but that can be remedied with some slotting or by dipping into the Leaping pool for Acrobatics.
  17. Not sure if typo, but the chat log reports that my Entropic Aura is taunting foes with my Fury. As a Scrapper.
  18. My personal favorites. Devil's Coat Tails (Cap) The Tangle/Sector 4 (Grandville/RV) Sector 5 (RV) Ground Zero (Bloody Bay, and the original CoV install music) Four Gables (Imperial City) Lambda Sector (Neutropolis) The Storm Palace (Storm Palace) The Cascades (Eden) New Overbrook (Faultline)
  19. Those don't provide "Protection", but they provide "Resistance" which means you'll be held/slept/whatever for shorter durations. Most set bonuses that provide damage resistance also provide mez resistance bonuses similar to these enhancements as well. You'll still get controlled. The only statuses you can protect from through slotting are Teleport, Repel, and Knockback.
  20. Wasn't it said that you can run Windows on the Steam Deck? Though CoH probably won't work with the native Steam OS, If Windows can work on the Steam Deck, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to install and play CoH on it through Windows.
  21. Buoyant Membrane is the temporary Group Fly power you can get in First Ward while fighting the Seed of Hamidon and the Seedlings. When I was knocking some Seedlings down to get the Full Spectrum badge, I noticed that while using Buoyant Membrane to fly around and fight them, my travel speed kept getting reduced every few seconds as if I was attacking something. At first I thought my Blaster's Absorb barrier ticking up was doing it (the slowdowns were in perfect sync with the combat log telling me I had Absorb), but when I turned that off I was still getting slowed down. I swapped to another character, same thing, this time theorizing that maybe it was something like Health/Stamina constantly reupping the proc. Switched to a third, completely unenhanced character and was still getting suppressed while Buoyant Membrane was active. At one point I took the power back to Atlas Park, thinking maybe First Ward's Debt Protection effect was doing it, but still nothing. I also checked my other flight powers (various jetpacks and Mystic Flight) and wasn't getting slowed unless Buoyant Membrane was also on. Something is making the power think you're constantly getting into a fight every few seconds, severely limiting the power's use during Seed takedowns and elsewhere but I can't figure out what might be doing it.
  22. That's certainly true, but they could easily do both. They could also give Council some IDF tech instead considering the UPA also has IDF and DUST members among their ranks (plus the whole War Walker business). Imagine Council Archons with DUST Plasma Cannons or IDF missile packs or maybe some Zenith Mech Men could also incorporate the Battle Orb auras and similar plasma cannons. Speaking of War Walkers, how hard would it be to add those to Council spawns 40+? It would be a neat extra boss to run into, though I guess making them fit into confined spaces is the problem they have.
  23. Mids probably isn't up to date, but i27p2 changed Touch of Fear so that it's now a Targeted AoE attack (like Spinning Strike) and not just a single target Fear. The primary target is still Fear'd though.
  24. Depending on who you ask, Fire is considered one of the better blast sets for Defenders because of the damage. The lack of a secondary effect does mean you won't bring as mucb debuff to a team, but when things are dying faster the lack of debuffs aren't a major drawback. Now I've never used Fire on a Defender and I personally think it doesn't fit the Defender archetype but I know a lot of people are quite fond of it.
  25. A few others. The introductory mission for Dark Astoria for Villains has an extra dialogue choice from Arbiter Daos if you've completed the Lord Recluse Strike Force. Heather Townshead has some continuity. If you're a Villain and you've done Darrin Wade's arc (The Thief of Midnight), Sigil will not be happy to see you when you meet her. You have the opportunity to apologize to her if you've turned a new leaf. Additionally after this mission, if you've completed First Ward you can get some more extra dialogue where you figure out much more quickly that the Talons of Vengance are involved. More Villain continuity, during Dominatrix's arc, Ajax won't be happy to see you either if you've done Dean MacArthur's arc. He's under orders not to take it out on you though and stays his hand. Provost Marchand's arc in Primal Earth, there will be extra dialogue from Nadia, Katie, and Makawa if you've completed First Ward. I believe Pendragon also has an extra line if you've done BV's arc. If you are a Praetorian and your stories had you interract with the members of The New Praetorians, they have different lines based on your actions in the past; Marauder accepts that you killed Cleopatra for instance (and her body won't be there when you extract him from Imperial). Marchand himself will also be thrilled to speak to you again if you left Praetoria as a Loyalist when you see him, though he will still address you as a "fellow Praetorian" if you were Resistance.
