Knives of Artemis Defeat Badge - Mythbuster
Major_Decoy replied to Chrono-Bot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Honestly, no. I like the idea of a Knives of Artemis badge and I'm in favor of at least one being added, but I'm not tied to any one particular name. I just don't find your arguments against the word "myth" compelling. If you just read the wikipedia entry on Mythbusters I will admit, I had forgotten the background information on the Knives of Artemis from the webpage from when I read it more than a decade ago. (edit: this is an aside and not fully connected to the conversation at hand, but it bothered me on reading) The end of one paragraph and the beginning of the very next paragraph: (end aside) The "current data" on the Knives of Artemis does nothing to contradict "It is rumored that they number no more than 100, but no one is certain." because when you first encounter something, you don't have enough information to make an estimate. The FSBA and other groups now have an estimate that there are more than 100 members, but there's still a rumor around that there's less than 100. Someone invented that. Maybe they had a good estimate, we don't know, we don't know who the source is. That being said, I also don't agree that the Knives of Artemis have any links to mythology aside from worshipping Athena (Apparently gods exist in City of Heroes, is it even really fair to call them myths?) And some Carnival of Vengeance bosses have wings, just like the Knives of Vengence, so clearly that aspect of monstrosity has nothing to with myths either. So yes, while I feel that the term Mythbuster is not undeserved, it doesn't have any double meaning. Now, if you absolutely needed it to combine the idea of "mythbusting" being both "checking the veracity of a statement" and "beating up a mythical being" so it would be a better pun, I can understand that argument. There are possibly more appropriate usages of the badge "Mythbusters", but Chrono-Bots' suggestion is prefectly valid even if you don't care for it. -

How do you even know it's false? I mean, yeah, you can get more than 100 in a mission, but the game also has two Penelopes Yin (Penelope Yins?) and three Ms. Liberties (at least until the Valentine's day event ends) "Their numbers are estimated to be in the low hundreds" or "It is estimated that there are around 100 of them" or "We reckon them to have no more than" those are all terms you'd use if you're giving a reasoned guess. "It is rumored" is the term when you've heard something, but you don't know the source of the information. "It's rumored that there are only two copies of the recipe of the 11 secret herbs and spices" His story that there are only two copies of the recipe of the 11 secret herbs and spices is pure myth. -

We know the knives of Artemis are real, we don't know how many of them there are because they refuse to reply to my census requests. The invented story is "There's only 100 of them" "The rumor that there are only 100 of them is pure myth" Edit: A lot of the "myths" that got tested on mythbusters could also be called rumors, honestly. It's just unsourced information. "I've heard you get better mileage by driving with the windows down than you'd get by using the air conditioner" "I've heard a kid ate pop rocks and coke and exploded" "I've heard that these people had a whole bunch of mirrors and used them to sink ships!" -
My Invincibility/Dark has lower defense numbers but much better regeneration. It uses Touch of Fear, but only enhanced with 47% damage. My live build is pretty much this, but it switches Might of the Tanker with Gauntleted Fist. https://www.midsreborn.com/builds/download.php?uc=1495&c=701&a=1402&f=HEX&dc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

Knives of Artemis Defeat Badge - Mythbuster
Major_Decoy replied to Chrono-Bot's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Right, false is a descriptor. It is an adjective or an adverb, not a noun. You don't call a rumor false. You describe it as being false. If you want false as a noun, you can go with Falsehood, lie, prevarication, etc. -

False is a descriptor. "This is a false"? No. You could call it a fiction. Or a fallacy. But myth works too. -

The nature of the forum means that there's bit of churn and not every idea gets seen. There's no harm in trying to bring fresh eyes to an idea. I think it's kind of uncharitable to say "it didn't take". It's not a bad idea, even the name "Mythbuster" isn't bad. It's not that the Knives of Artemis are myths, but that what do you call a rumor that's been verified untrue? It wouldn't be entirely inaccurate to say "Today we're testing the myth that there are only 100 Knives of Artemis" So yes, as someone who very much enjoyed the show Mythbusters, I entirely agree with Chrono-bot that it'd be fun to have a badge named Mythbuster, and I'm sure that there are some people who would like that badge name for character reasons, and people who would like knives of artemis defeat badges for lore reasons. I just think that the requirement to defeat more than 100 in one mission is important. -

The thread in question, but the post with the badge requirements I liked. I think the requirement for more than 100 in a single mission is important. -
No, Invulnerability has had invincibility as the taunt aura since launch. (It was one reason why Invulnerability scrappers was popular, you had a taunt aura and you could hit 95% resist all... also Invincibility was pulsing twice as much as it was supposed to and giving twice as much defense as they had designed it to)

Jimmy might be Mimjy, but not Nemesis. Maybe we should ask Yer Mindless Jr. Mo about lesser Don Jimmy?
-
I don't think regeneration can hit the regeneration cap solo. You heal a percentage of your health per tick, but the ticks happen faster the higher your regeneration is.
-
That is actually something that could be changed. Take the heal off of thee activation of Dull Pain and give it a "If you drop below 50% health while this buff is active, you lose this buff and heal for the amount that dull pain would heal you for" The +maximum health could then be used proactively and you'd get the reactive heal, but one that would activate without an animation during the middle of an attack
-
Well, the preventive medicine proc can fire without animations and in the middle of an attack, right? I kind of suspect that the "don't activate another power while this power is activating" is baked into things, so you can't actually activate a power like that, but you can have a passive power activate if certain conditions are met. So throw some new stuff into Fast Healing that interacts with the blooms.
-
Yeah, the +HP is something like a difference of 15 HP a second on my Invulnerability tank.
-
Granite is kind of a perfect "Oh Crap" button. The recharge is short enough that you can turn it on and off when you need it, it's a massive boost to resistance and defense, and the penalties are severe enough that you don't really want to use it all the time. Unstoppable is crap because you never need it for three minutes. It lasts long enough that you kind of forget that you activated it and sometimes you'll be mid fight when it fails.
-
Not an expert either, but from personal experience, the new design is a whole lot more friendly to lower level builds. The recovery in Crystals is so helpful and the defense in Stone Skin makes it much easier to tank. Honestly, Granite feels less necessary and more like an emergency button. Edit: I'd argue that the new design of Earth's Embrace is a lot more friendly to SO builds and leveling builds because you can perma-it without global recharge bonuses. You can't ignore the strength that +max health adds to +regeneration.
-
Well, notepad editing the head sliders might work for the head, but not for the tails.
-
Actually, like Aethereal, I'd make the argument to allow "Smashing" damage to have some effect on a fire. Because you actually can punch a fire out. (You should totally be able to footstomp out a fire)

"Reach for the Limit" is Broken, please fix.

I'm guessing it doesn't, but that (all) just didn't include psi and toxic damage -

I couldn't get it to trigger with any of my dual pistols attacks, but it seemed to trigger every time with Burst of Speed. I also got it a few times with storm kick. -
I've decided to make the five set bonus on most of the purple sets +10% recharge and 100% chance of magnitude 47 knockback. The proc has a 97% chance of turning that knockback into knockdown.

A Monty Python sketch is hardly obscure.

I thought that debuff had already been removed. I thought all the penalties associated with various revives had been removed.
-
On my tank, all three taunt, so I took all three. Cloak of Fear is slotted with Cloud Senses (and a +5 boosted Acc/End Nightmare) Oppressive Gloom is five slotted with Absolute Amazement (with the chance for to-hit debuff) I also went with the immobilize proc interface and the control hybrid that give a chance to stun immobilized and feared enemies.
