Haven't tried Tactical Arrow yet, Tyger?

If there isn't a simple solution for getting friendly Pets to be "passable" . . . I would like to propose a potential alternative solution for the Devs' consideration: A Temporary purchasable Power and/or Inherent Power which is a targeted summon of an "air bubble" which forces Pets out of the way, and then disappears. Downside: Could potentially be used for griefing or have unintended consequences, such as in PvP. But if there isn't an easy way to resolve the current issues with players being unable to pass through or push friendly Pets directly, then I think my suggestion is worth a little investigation as a workaround.

Temporary workaround: Drag a Mook from a nearby Family mob to aggro her.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think their motivation is an attempt to provide a salve in the form of "since the people in charge are unlikely to care about this problem, then perhaps you would benefit from stepping back and reconsidering your perspective on the importance of the issue." And this is coming from the entity which posted: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/10109-reset-inspiration-tray-default-as-closed/ Not saying that those types of replies are warranted, mind you. Just my guess as to why they've been made.

I've used this before in another thread, but it feels appropriate here now too . . . after two whole pages of posts:

Literally ANYTHING to stop ranged henchmen from brawling
VileTerror replied to Weylin's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well, William Valence may still be missing, but he fought the good fight, and I think after so many weeks since the release of the Mastermind AI Patch, I think we can say . . . We've won the war. Thank you, brave code-soldiers. May you speed on to your next battle on wings of glory! -
A Minimalist Take on a Support/Melee AT

I remember the Duo, and I like that concept too . . . but I think tex's suggestion is different enough to merit its own examination. -
I may have missed it in the thread if someone already suggested it, but what if Tier 9s with Crashes had two "modes?" Press it once and get the weak version with no Crash. Press it again during the first 1/2 of the duration time* and get the full benefits, but trigger the Crash mechanic at the tail end. *window of opportunity subject to change, just throwing that out as a theoretical example

Thank you to all who are involved in this project!

Welcome Home! And remember; since the game is free now, there's no need to delete any characters, even the ones you mess up! You can just rename them to free the name back up, then make a new character with the name you want, and you can go back and use the old character after a Respec, costume change, and time. Free Shard Transfers also mean you can toss the characters in to another Shard to free up space/names. Enjoy yourself out there! See you around if you ever pop on over to Everlasting! -
Very much sadly there is not gender parity for costume pieces. I'm not 100% sure about that particular piece, but I can tell you that the Circle of Thorns Back Detail is only available to Males, but not Huge or Female, despite it just being sticky-out'y-bits. If I had the money, I'd hire SO MANY 3D modellers to get to work on fixing this ASAP. Naturally I'd do it on the downlow, since litigation issues about "for-profit" development, yatta-yatta . . . but still, you know.

If you could make crazy costume requests...

That's the spirit, folks! Keep 'em coming! -
I make you Alt because I care. To Alt is to show thy love to the City. Love thy City, young man. Love thy City.

A Minimalist Take on a Support/Melee AT
VileTerror replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You know what, tex? Hell yes! I hadn't thought of it that way before, but I think you've hit the nail on the head! It's got a cool hook/gimmick, it's thematic as hell, and with the right name . . . we could have a winner! Let's see . . . I'd say Singularity should go with Kinetic Melee, and we reconsider Energy Melee. Spines? Maybe the Flytrap, since Thorns are thematically similar? Claws? Demons? Might be a little bit of a stretch, and may be better to hold them in reserve in case we ever get Whip Melee. Phantasm for Psionic Melee seems kinda on-brand. Staff Fighting, Dual Blades, Broad Sword, War Mace, Titan Weapon, and Battle Axe . . . who/what should they get? Radiation . . . you know what? This whole exercise has just reminded me that Melee has received SO MUCH MORE LOVE than any other Archetype Set. There's like 2 Melee Sets for every other classification of Set, or four times as many in the case of Mastermind Primaries or Control Sets. Yowzers! . . . Still like your idea, tex. Want to give it a thread of its own, and we can take the brainstorming session there? -
Well . . . again, using the meter stick of Phantom Army, other than people like myself saying "that's awesome, and brings us one step closer to Henchpet Customization" . . . is anyone vocally upset that Illusion Control got the cool new feature, while all other Control Sets were left without? I know my own experience in that department is simply anecdotal, since I can't see everything, but I'd like to know from others: Have you anything to report on that front? Or has every mention of Phantom Army in the community thus far been a matter of "Yes, please-and-thank-you!" and "that's a step in the right direction, I'm looking forward to more in the future!" Naturally, sure. If we keep taking small steps of progress, doing one Set / Pet at a time, people will be anxious about when/if their favourite will get the treatment. But that is also literally exactly what's going on with -everything- anyway. Tankers got attention as a whole Archetype recently, and some people are anxious about their favourite Archetypes (not) being next. It's kind of the nature of the beasty. Even when things were for-profit, the Legacy Devs still had to do things in steps, generally. With all that in mind . . . my earlier support of Sakura's concern is partially rescinded. It'll definitely still suck if Beasts, Demons, and Robots don't get anything . . . but that's also kiiind of not a big deal or reasonable limiting factor for the other Sets, since EVERY upgrade and update is a progressive matter of steps over time.
-
As a technical limitation, yeah, it would kind of suck if only Gang, Mercs, Ninjas, and maybe Necro got to customize, and getting Demons, Robots, and Beasts up to that level would pose a big hurdle. I still think it's worth putting in the effort, given this is exactly the sort of game feature which defines the core purpose of City of Heroes: Customization of personal creations.
-
"Significantly" is conjecture. It -might- do that, but since it hasn't happened, we have nothing to really draw from as an example. EXCEPT Phantom Army customization. So . . . how many reports of abuse has that feature prompted? It can be the meter stick to see just how far the cause for concern is justified. Let's give it some time, and then ask the GMs and Devs if there had been a meaningful impact to their workloads due to pandora's box having the lid open a smidge earlier this month.

A Minimalist Take on a Support/Melee AT
VileTerror replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I agree wholeheartedly! If Support is the Primary, then it should be damned-near close to Defender scaling. If not all the time, then on-average with whatever sort of Inherent or ATO effects get established. -
Yes, Seigmoraig. But you could also do that in AE, or anywhere with a couple of friends. It's not a unique problem to Mastermind Henchpets. At all.
-
siolfir speaks wisdom! But there is one important point to note for a new player, and that is a build with double Leadership Toggles is SUPER Endurance heavy. The baked-in Leadership for Soldiers and Widows is cheaper Endurance-per-second than the Pool Power versions, so I'd recommend just the natural Leadership first. When the player gets more confident with IO builds and using Temp Powers like the Recovery Serum; then they can dip in to the extra Pool Leadership Toggles with more confidence.

Ok, I made this thread specifically for @GM Widower! Where the fudgy-oreo-cookies are they?

A Minimalist Take on a Support/Melee AT
VileTerror replied to Replacement's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You should totally make that a different thread, HelBlaiz. It's kind of tangential in this one, but I totally want to throw my support behind something like that. Details to follow if it gets its own thread.
