And here I am with characters named things like "Operative Cunajas" and "Magical Consultant Stu."
That struggle of trying to find a name is so foreign to me. Hell, I even got names like "Pure Evil" and "Fear Incarnate" months after launch (the latter of which I gave away to someone who said they'd take good care of the name, but hasn't even surpassed level 10 yet . . . *squints toward that individual*).
The ol' https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/9872-a-question-from-the-homecoming-team/ has a lot of people asking to never have to start over again. And I got to thinking . . . there's a tool which copies our characters over from Live to Beta, right? Would it be possible to make a version of that which creates a downloadable file which contains all of our characters' data? I realize that it would be nigh useless without also having Homecoming's version of the server files, but there's something to be said for a sense of security and peace of mind. A layer of personal protection from something dreadful, just in case.
What's the feasibility on that?
If gender and the call function for alignment could be unbound to their present associates (the model and the alignment), and turned in to a Null the Gull option, that would do it.
This would also address the option of having NPCs refer to your character with the pronoun of your choice.
Also, found another alignment-locked Badge title I want on "the wrong side." Patriot / International Spy
Like . . . come on. There are Heroes who could be International Spies. And I have a character who is a die-hard Etoilean Patriot.
I have over 120 characters, and I'm in the process of making a new one right now while multiboxing at the same time I'm roleplaying with someone.
All those people who play for "the endgame" . . . I don't -get- them. I play for moments like this!
I think there should be Hero Epic Patrons eventually, and those should have the Pets, personally. But that's a topic for another week, according to Miss.
Per Captain Powerhouse's second line: See exhibit B (Bethesda).
That's not a dig at their QA teams, either. I know their QA teams actually do a lot of hard work. It's just that Bethesda's particular test-patch scheduling methodology has some gaping holes in it.
I don't personally conform to the idea that all in-game assets are canon. A lot is just there as a stand-in to represent what's "really" going on.
But if you want to hold firm to the idea that we're stuck with CRTs and brick-phones, then the easiest answer is: Nemesis owns all the patents for better technology, and refuses to allow them to be manufactured so he can maintain his technological edge with his steam. This is why you -do- see more advanced technology in Praetoria and the Rogue Isles, where they don't care about u.s. patents.
@Jimmy . . . cake or pie, and which flavour?
You know. As a morale booster.
. . . don't say "pizza pie" with "pineapple flavour," though. Then I'd be forced to implode.
Day Job and Temp Power refills being available is definitely a good-sounding idea to me.
Or at least -something- to refill them, even if it's running a mission or crafting or somesuch.
For example, Libertarian / Anarchist is alignment-locked.
Teacher is for Praetorians only.
Stuff like that, frankly, should be unlocked as well.
But if I had to choose, I'll support unlocking gender before alignment.
