Music instruments as backpacks?
UltraAlt replied to DevonXavier2006's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
These are generally rather small compared to the other instruments and, therefore, not as noticable. I would rather that we start with the ones that are more obvious when they are slung on the back. Sorry. Missed your comment mentioning RP. Some people just want costume parts that look cool, and to them it really doesn't have anything to do with actual RP'ing. It's just a costume part. You had already posted which parts you thought you would like to see. I was posting the parts that I would like to see. Ack. Are these for huge characters only?! Err. Can you post a picture of this music instrument called a "cannon"? I'm trying to picture how this would be worn on the back. 🤔 -
Music instruments as backpacks?
UltraAlt replied to DevonXavier2006's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
If the instruments were used as part of the visual for the attacks, they would each need their own animation. Being able to have one on your back (as a backpack) for RP reasons, is a good option. Best thing ever, no. But better than nothing. I always thought it would be good to have more musical instrument emotes other than just the drums. I don't really count the air guitar. Instruments I would like to see for backpacks would be the larger instruments, Guitar, acoustic Guitar, electric Bass, electric Saxophone Trumpet Marching band style drum Boom box Zither Harp Don't have time to think of more at the moment, have to run ... -

Create your own server and program it yourself it you want it and know better than everyone else. I've heard enough out of you. -
Masterminds have wanted changes for years now.
UltraAlt replied to eldriyth's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The DEVs aren't paid. They volunteer to run and support a game that many of us love. They program and work on what interest them and what they think they can accomplish for the good of the game. You are insulting those that are providing for us a greatly loved game environment for many of us. You are in no place to demand anything or make insinuations about what is easy and what is not. Private servers have branched off in different directions and the sections of code aren't plug-and-play. From what I hear the ThunderSpy script isn't as tightly written and parts of Homecoming have changed the original coding so that codes from the other private servers don't necessary work well with the changes that Homecoming has already made. Perhaps if you think ThunderSpy is so great, you should go play over there. -
Traumatic Brain Injury player needs advice on Symphony Doms

Are you playing the leveling of the character or do you power-level to 50? I'm assuming you have already picked some powers. Which powers have you picked? -
Looking back, I have the thought in the back of my head that it was the best thing that could have happened at that point in game development changed to money grab. City of Heroes in a much better state now here at Homecoming. The drive to produce new content is focused back onto love of the game instead of ways to gain more income. I'm a bit bias though, as I had given up on my beloved game in disgust and quit my membership almost exactly a year before the Sunset. I love Homecoming as much as I did City of Heroes before the darkness of Going Rogue feel upon it after the crippling impact of AE Going Farmer and F2P. One blow after another. A City beaten into submission. Like a phoenix it has risen. It's great to be back in THE CITY.

I'm just wondering ... I'm just a tinker ... but ... I don't want to say turn off your router, leave it off for 5 minutes, turn it back and let it sit for 5 minutes, and then restart your computer ... but... [erk... just saw Six-Six's post... thought I had read the whole thread, but sometimes we gloss over the small bits] I hear these days that we don't need power and control in bases? Is that correct? If so, then I guess I have to ask if you have power and control in your base. If not, maybe put them in to see if that helps. Next, have you deleted all the teleports and teleport beacons, exited the base, gone back in and put back in the teleporters and beacons, exited the base, gone back in, and see if they are working? [Possibly some steps optional, but that should be about clean of a reset of your teleports as possible]

I can't say that I have a "philosophy" in regard to gaming. The "journey" to me is exploring the game. That isn't just leveling. It isn't just taking different leveling paths. It isn't just exploring the "world" with my different archetypes and power selections. It isn't just exploring the "world" thought my character conception. It isn't just the different interactions that I experience with PUGs (Pick-up Groups - because they always have random players involved bringing their own style of gameplay and interaction). It isn't just figuring out the costume variations that will fit a character. It isn't just about making different bases to explore what I can build or to explore what other players have built. .... and .... on it goes ... For me, the "destination/goal" is being in the world and interacting with it (including and, on many levels, the other player characters that I interact with). I read comics from a fairly early age and, from that time, have wanted to do what I can to be heroic in my life. It's hard to be superheroic and not get arrested, be brought in for government testing, or ... even killed. (Never take off the mask). THE CITY allows me to be a superhero in an environment where it is safe to explore being a superhero (... villain, monster, alien, mystic creature, robot, angel, demon, plant creature, and on-and-on, but not a Praetorian! - AKA the superhero/comic book genre in general) and that keeps calling me back as much as reading a new comic book or rereading old comic books (or their compilations known generally as graphic novels these days..) So I guess the "destination/goal" rolls back to being the "journey" because the combinations of experience are near endless/limitless within what some would see to be a constrictive environment. See you in THE CITY.

Poll: Items We'd Like to See Added To Base Editor

Wandering NPCs would be a great addition for sure, but I'm assuming people have brought that up thousands of times already. -
Poll: Items We'd Like to See Added To Base Editor
UltraAlt replied to Dacy's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A pre-fab outdoor base would be good. No need for placement of items, but not having to construct to create an outdoor environment from scratch would help a lot of people. I could be like a pick plot option. I greatly appreciated more things for kitchens that were provided to us in the last update. I'm thinking these things are more geared at general use of the base builder versus individual construction objects based on the polls. Honestly, I'm wondering where the options came from. The seem kind of limited. Perhaps people have been talking about these things for a while, and I had no idea. -
You get the badges if you do them as you level. You can get some of the badges if you just run with a lower level team doing the missions. I often run the Fortune Teller mission and do a shoutout for those that would like to join me to get the badge. So as part of whatever changes you are talking about, are you talking about removing merits from the oroborus arcs?
-
er, why? You don't think people should talk to Null the Gull before level 5? or because they are just too young to go clubbing? ... or I guess more RP'ing these days.... .... oh, I see ... yeah. They should take the AE out of the Pocket D instead of level capping it.
-
I understand where you are coming from. It is more fun to play with other players. The fix is simple. Actually, play the arcs as you level instead of power-leveling past those missions. If you don't want to outlevel them as you play, XP lock your character (turn off XP gain). There is plenty of fun to be had running with other players. I don't think you have to be gaining rewards in order to be having a fun time gaming. And you can always alt to another character if one is tied up in an Oro arc that you really want to complete with a set group of other players. Having Alts gives you flexibility. Make alts. So, yeah, I'm against the change because I feel it will exploit the content. It is intended to be a taskforce type situation on purpose.

Depends upon what kind of resistance that 90% is and what enemies they are fighting.
-
Great. Sounds like you need to put them on /ignore in-game and forget about going to their discord channel. Why let it bother you if you are avoiding being around someone you feel is rude and behaving in an immoral manner? No reason to bring it here if they are overlord of their domain. It would be better suited to bring it up in a support ticket if it is within Homecoming's domain ... which I'm assuming the Homecoming discord is ... and, therefore, abide by the CoC and EULA. So, yeah, I would direct you to report the behavior in a support ticket. But in the meantime, go back to step one and avoid people you don't want to game with and/or don't want to game with you. Cliques be cliques.

I'm not new....but I care now? Need some help
UltraAlt replied to Morgaren's topic in General Discussion
a) Depends on the player. I generally slot 2 accs in all attacks to start with. Anything that costs more than 10 end per use or is a toggle gets an end reduction to start with or after the accuracies. Everything gets at least 1 of whatever special that power has (defense, resistants, to-hit buff, -def debuff, -to-hit debuff, hold, immobilize, slow, knockback, etc..) Then I go looking for IO's because I have the loot. Otherwise, if a damage dealer, slot up damage; if damage-soaker/taunter, resistance and defense; heal for healers; defense/resistance for bubblers/shielders; more control/buff/debuffs for characters specializing in that. b) I feel its a balance of trying to keep damage adding up over time and not try to do spike damage. That is to say, I want all my powers to be able to hit the enemy. c) Yes. I build up all bit by bit across the board unless I'm slotting in IO sets for bonuses on something, but this usually doesn't happen until around level 27 d) I try to make sure whatever seems most important at the time has at least 2 before I go higher with other powers. Stamina generally gets 2 by level 10 and a third by level 15 or so. a) You could go into the badge menu and look for closest to completion and that would generally tell you what you would be hunting for hunts and how many defeats you had obtained, but not what plaque or component of a badge you may be missing. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Badges b) The Accolades are the main ones that give you permanent powers/buffs. There are some badges that give you temporary powers. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Accolades The main one that I would be concerned with is the https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Hero_Accolade_Powers#Long_Range_Teleporter . To unlock this, you must get all the exploration badges in a zone. First link below is map. Second link has specifics to where the badges are located. c) After I get the long range teleporter, I generally go to get one exploration badge in The Pocket D (heroside in the monkey fight arena, go up the ramp and to the couch directly in front of you), [travel to the following through a sg base - don't have one? yell out on /help] Talos (on the hill near the tram), and to Peregrin Island (into the middle portal corps building, and walk through the metal detector). After that, I get badges, but I'm not a badge-wh...er... badger. I don't know if you are fighting different enemies or if you are talking about missions along an arc. Missions should be getting more difficult as you go through an arc. I don't know if you are getting to confident in yourself because of going through a mission easily or not. The ones that warn that you might need teammates are ones that - depending upon your level - may be too difficult for you. Also, I don't know what difficulty level or mob size you are currently set at. Really we would need more information to be able to make a good call about what is going on. a) IOs are deficient at low levels. The + is that they don't turn read and always keep their same % of + regardless of your characters level. To me, the change between SO to IO is at level 45 and 50 where their percentages are higher. IO sets get better bonus when you have one or more of the same set slotted. Procs or multislotting can gain you advantages that you can't get through SOs or IOs. Check out the link below that can help you out on keeping your SO's up-to-date. Also check out the "upgrade" function in the manage window versus buying a level 25 to replace a red level 20. - Yomo's Give-Away - -
Does history repeat itself? Are there only 7 story plots? To some extent yes. Is Superman like Samson and Moses? To some extent, but neither of them could fly, wear a cape, work at the Daily Planet, live in Metropolis, etc. Some say that there is nothing new under the sun, but there are plenty of permutations of things. Not everyone that has a cape, super strength, invulnerability and can fly are Superman. I think if you read through the thread you will find quite clearly that it is discussing copycats and not variations of the super genre (which is what the game is about - the "superhero genre"). Not all superheroes wear masks and/or capes. There are general types of powers and modes of transport that superheroes use, and the game tries to provide those as options. I see far more Hulk-copycats then I do of any other know characters to be honest. You have to go over to DCUO to see a ton of Superman copycats. You can't throw a Joker bouncy-ball without hitting one, but, of course, the same goes for practically every type of copyright infringement over there, but this isn't DCUO.

What does it mean to be Level 50 versus Incarnate?
UltraAlt replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
So maybe it's time to ask the original question again? Here is the setup and the question. Level 50 appears to be the highest level one can be a superhero. Incarnate appears to start once the Alpha Slot is unlocked. "....Incarnates are humans who have been exposed to the Well of the Furies in some way, empowering them with the powers of the gods themselves. As such, they are substantially more powerful than most other superbeings." What do you think are the differences from standpoints of lore, gameplay, teaming, ingame social, etc.?
