Sins of the Devs are visited upon the players

I was agreeing with you, and going a step further in suggesting another way to direct attention to here because we should also think about solutions and not just complain. -

We get an @ on the discord which I rush to read but I also wouldn't mind an in-game pop-up saying "head over to the forums/beta to see more about the new patch - the quicker you test it the quicker it can come out!", not unlike the pop-up we get when it goes live. But I guess it is about whether that would have any impact on the testing numbers. -
Hey @Mezmera- I've just started a TA/DP def, do you happen to have a build lying around? I think I've over slotted/ built for the wrong things!

(Snipped a little...) I did my first 1* ITF last night on my PB (gotta love the protection from being copied by the nictus). I was worried it wouldn't be for my khel. But I absolutely loved the chaos of it. The leader didn't say "Anyone new to this?" so when a couple of people (who didn't know about the changes) charged in, got a bit confused, and died it made me really worried someone might rage-quit. But I was wrong. We slowed down, stayed together, had fun, and I think we chatted more as we weren't bashing through it. Definitely made my way through the healing badge using Veng 😉 I know EXACTLY what you mean about the mission 3 bit. I genuinely cackled as it happened and there was a new challenge. They look so adorable!

I love my Fire Melee/RadA brute. I find the safety of RadA a little dull in a way? So being able to build for damage is fun. The first brute I ever did always has a place in heart: DM/FA. I thought the graphics for Fiery Aura looked so different on a brute to how they looked on a tank - one felt like a furnace and the other felt like a crackling campfire - that it made me love it. The animation for Siphon is one of my faves. I’ve thought about rebuilding but I don’t wanna ruin what I remember of it. He was probably rubbish by today’s standards, but I have a distinct memory of running around St Martial - specially versus the wailers and freaks - in a team and it feeling great.

I don't think people, on the whole, disagree with your "lets make some user-created content cannon" idea. I think it's more: it would be too much hard work, for where they are right now as a team, to make it in the way that you'd like to see. Which is a shame! I'd love for some of those arcs to be canon and in-game but, ya know... This is what we have. On the second point about running the Dev Choice runs (I don't mean this rudely!): Do you run those teams? I can't be the only one who would come along. So often I see "why isn't XYZ run more?" when people could just do it... themselves? The first few times it might be a bit tough but it'd defo get easier to recruit as less people need it explained to them. I also think you're right that AE has a bad rep sadly, I remember doing some very fun arcs on Live and have played some great ones on HC. -

The market is very turbulent right now. I'm in the UK where inflation is very high and there's a cost of living crisis. Just paying what I think you're worth. Now if you were First Player? Sky's the limit 😉 -

Sins of the Devs are visited upon the players
Xiddo replied to The_Warpact's topic in General Discussion
Ultimately we’re - mostly - all grown adults playing a very old game where we dress up as super-people and fight baddies/goodies [delete as appropriate]. We could probably afford to chill out a bit and just try to have fun. -

Just wanted to say: I'm so happy there are still new people coming to this game and enjoying it. I started somewhere around I4 and played until about 2010 a lot but went to uni and decided it was probably time to meet people. I didn't do half of the content when it was live cos I was a kid and didn't understand why the big eye-balls could shoot through my ice tank's defence. I'm still learning things about Co* (I only just clocked you could reset combat attributes by right clicking? Idiot). I didn't really do the forums stuff, or keep across the game news, and when I tried to pop back in for quick play one day.... it was gone. The fact that new people get to come back and make silly cow or panda characters/unkillable tankers/game-breaking blasters is rad. I'm very grateful for the team for trying to do what they feel is best. Do I always agree with them? No - but I didn't agree with getting rid of my imp-army when they changed summons on live #RIP. But being happy Co* back doesn't mean I have to play it all the time. I get bored/ have stuff on/ I'm an adult now. I take breaks really often. Month on, couple off. I love the arcs and SF introduced on HC as much as I love the SSA arcs and Sister Psyche TF. Would I like to see more mid-tier stuff, old TFs getting a look at, more people going red? Sure. I agree that I'd also love some more transparency from the Devs but I can't do anything about that. So when I am here: I'll try and run that under-loved stuff (in my opinion) in the hope of making it fun with what we have. Hell, I still playing Pokemon Red and that's much worse for replayability than this. Personally, I've found that if I pop onto the Forums when I'm on the bus, thinking about playing when I get home from work, and see loadsa rehashed arguments/ gripes etc then it burns me out or annoys me so much more than someone using an incarnate power on a lvl 45 team. There's a weirdness about this place versus when we're wearing our masks - we're much nicer in FF than the Forums. Sometimes it feels like people are playing the game, or talking about the game on the forums, until they've burnt out - just because they don't want to try and log on one day and it not be here. I dunno where this was going. Just my 2 pence. -
[How2] Basic Installation Guide [MacOS - Intel]
Xiddo replied to WanderingAries's topic in Homecoming Launcher
Realised I was still running Island Rum on Monterey and thought it was time to update. I get to this point and then the new launcher opens in the dock but... nothing happens on the first launch? The new installer doesn't appear or launch at all. Any help appreciated! -
DA - did you used to team with Far-Seer (a katana/regen scrapper) and Tanker Girl? I saw you in a channel this week and thought “I remember a DA on Union who had a SS/DA brute”… if so - hello! it’s Xiddo. I had a fire/storm troller, a fire/dark corr, and some other various toons.

In the unlikely event you decided to start a music career under the name “Doja-Cat”, I suspect her and her legal team wouldn’t be impressed. It’s the same reason we don’t have loads of “5uperman” toons running about.
-
It may not just be a copyright thing? In this article they talk about where her name comes from: https://www.nickiswift.com/241200/the-real-meaning-of-doja-cats-name/ And there is a chance that this might breach: The following is considered prohibited content: Anything illegal in the real world: This includes anything related to gambling, child pornography, terrorism, illegal controlled substances, and any real world criminal activity (yes, we know City of Villains exists) As it is a controlled substance in some parts (depending on where you are). I am not a trademark expert. I am a man on his phone with Google. But I looked up “Doja Cat trademark” and this came up: https://trademarks.justia.com/882/25/doja-88225430.html#:~:text=DOJA CAT Trademark of Amala,Number 88225430 %3A%3A Justia Trademarks&text=The name(s)%2C portrait, register is made of record. I suspect they may just be being cautious. As some people are very litigious. Im hypothesising. You’d probably get away with Dojo Cat (maybe a feline themed MA/SR stalker). I won’t sue if you use that name btw.

Only just realised Piecemeal is now listed as ‘Retired Developer’. Their arcs were great, what a shame. Whenever I see any of the HC added stuff being advertised I’ll drop what I’m doing to join them.

Tri-Form PB, can I get a little feedback?
Xiddo replied to Generator's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
Yeah for some reason it doesn’t register on my mids. I’ve got the reactive defence IO in there for another 3% resistance across the board. It’s a beauty! I’ll Inner Light, Nova form AoEs, land in the middle of the mob as they’re on their bum as I change into dwarf and flare, hop back into nova and another AoE mop up. Most things go down pretty easy. It took a bit to learn the feel of it but I can use the nova-flying momentum to land dwarf square in the middle of a pack. Vet 179 and I think my PB is now my favourite toon. -
Tri-Form PB, can I get a little feedback?
Xiddo replied to Generator's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
For levelling I just mostly stuck with nova and dwarf attacks. I’d recommend respec’ing at 22 cos then those form powers can then be slotted in any order and it gives you more to play with! -
I appreciate this might be a different topic… If you don’t want Hard Mode content, what content do you actually want them to add?

Doom's Kheldian Builds [ARCHIVED] No further updates.
Xiddo replied to Doomrider's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
Thought I'd take the plunge and pop my tri-form build out as the last couple of teams have commented on it. I'm at Vet 171 (and haven't farmed a sausage on it! 😉). I built for 1. Rech 2. Res 3. Regen (where I can). I mostly exemp, am rarely over 33, and quite often there isn't a tank or brute on the team so end up main tanking, or at least taking the alpha, and as I can't always rely on Light Form I just wanted to lock it all down. I could probably lose a slot in Dwarf and add another to Solar Flare but I like being overly cautious - Cosmic Balance really smacks you if there isn't anyone adding more Res, certainly on a Posi where there isn't loads of buffs flying about. Only thing to add is that my Mids, for some reason, doesn't have a slot in Quantum Maneuvers. In there I have the scaling resistance Reactive Defence IO so add +3% res across the board. test AoE attack chain (pre dawn strike) is: Build up, Nova Detonation, Nova Scatter, Dwarf Flare, (if I'm on anything lvl 23+) solar flare / back into nova and detonation, then mob up with iCan Strike/ Dwarf melee/ Radiant. I’m in the sometimes group. If it’s being advertised I’ll try and join (I.E. ask my partner if I can play for that long 😉). I’d never run it because I have *no idea what to do for the new bits*. I don’t mind about the rewards really. I’ve accumulated enough inf, I’ve got enough merits, I’ve got the 50s I like playing. I’m playing cos I enjoy the game that I missed for so long. I’m fully on board for them taking their time to develop the hard stuff as long as other stuff is being done too (which is another conversation). I think some pre-existing content can be “challenging” or “hard” but some of it is just the stuff people don’t run often. Who Will Die (part 1) on +2-4 is “hard”. Silver Mantis’ last mission can be chaos and needs teamwork if you’re doing anything higher than +2.

This might be a bit of a dumb thing… but the change helps Shades significantly more, right? On my tri-PB I exemp a lot, my shields are mules only really, but I guess it might help for those times I’m smashing out a Solar Flare between changes for a few seconds… I dunno… I like that I can remain in flight mode - just thematically - but maybe I need to re-fiddle the build so I have more def so I have a reason to run those toggle..
-
I’ve had the last few months off. First thing I played when back: Who Will Die? (Blue, part 1). Fun enemies (Igneous, Lost, CoT), great and unique maps (especially the last mission), some solid mechanics that make you work together (especially mission 2), the rewards are good (20 merits, or incarn bits for 50+ toons), and it’s not run that often. Even on +1 it can be a challenge if you try and rush off, cos being level 10+ Vs mobs that are rarely fought can catch people off.

Been trying to get back into the game after some time off. Did this last year and it helped. 1. Tanker/ Shield Defense/ Katana (this combo isn't allowed so rerolled the secondary) 1a. Tank/ Shield Defense/ Energy Melee This I don't mind the look of. I've been wanting to do a Shield toon I can get to a point I don't loathe the endurance issues... 2. Defender/ Trick Arrow/ Fire Blast - I've got a Fire/Arrow blaster sitting at 22 (a former Wyvern agent, double-crossed by Manticore when he went dark for a bit) so I could see this being nice) 3. Brute/ Ice Melee/ Regeneration - DING DING DING No thanks though. Tanker time it is!

I completely get this! I took May - October off and came back knowing the new stuff was out shortly after. I’m still not playing the level I used to prior to that but I’ve made little changes that have helped. I’ve stopped doing consecutive days playing unless I know mates are on. I’ve been doing content I wouldn’t normally do - running Who Will Die/ Pandora’s Box on higher difficulties for example - and it changes the pace so much. I don’t feel so passive. leading that ‘new’ content has helped as people have often said “I never did this on live, that was fun!” and it makes the gaming fun again. I’ve been doing only sub-35 content, changes the speed. But the most important thing: have fun again. I spent ages trying to play really seriously cos I wanted to get back the missed time. Now I’m not doing the long gaming sessions, maybe just a Moonfire is enough. hope you come back from the burnout though!

When I first came back to the game I went to Reunion but am now on Excel. Unless I'm on a late shift at work and log on around 9am UK time, I've not really had an issue forming or finding. For example, I had a day off today and was on around midday and even then was able to form an 8-man Who Will Die (part 1). I can't guarantee you won't team with 50s who've dinged though! But there are often younguns.
