  1. In regards to SuperGroups as the same-named function in game, I prefer to just have one for all my characters and nobody else. Makes it much easier to share and store items account-wide. I use global channels and Discord for people. But I'm assuming you meant the actual "group of people" context, in which case it's as a few have already said: friendly group of folks who just like to invite others and sometimes set up events or weekly things. City of Heroes thrives in a comfy atmosphere, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
  2. Speaking as someone with 100+ Skyrim mods, at least half of which utterly destroy immersion for the sake of humor: I would absolutely love Moonbase Alpha style synthetic voices on characters. That said, it'd have to be optional for sure. I'm fairly confident most people would not be on board with it.
  3. Another thing of note: you'd be surprised how many players are lurking and waiting for something interesting to form--I myself am guilty of this behavior too. Sometimes you just gotta advertise something, even if it's just "hey I'm running missions blueside level 15" or the like. Leading a casual mission team requires almost no leadership skills or game knowledge, so no need to worry or fret about being the leader.
  4. Oh, this was long before that Tiki Room ever existed--it was close to the start of my CoH days, back in issue 4 or issue 5.
  5. I honestly don't find any of the issue 0 & issue 1 TFs to be interesting in the slightest. Positron got a sweet buff and Psyche got conveniently replaced, but the rest leave much to be desired--too many Defeat All and "do the same mission 2-3 times in a row" in those days. Manticore is only helped by the number of ghostable missions, and I actually don't hate Numina TF's street hunt mixup that much. This leaves Synapse and Citadel as the biggest offenders, with the Shadow Shard content not far behind. At least Dr Q gives a monstrous amount of Merits when it gets the weekly, but I would absolutely not complain if any of the aforementioned TFs got the same love Positron did. edit: Another thing that makes the more modern TFs more interesting is dialogue and cutscenes. I don't want BAF level "let's get on with it already" length cutscenes--just something as simple as Romulus' and the Shadow Simalcrum adds some nice scenery chewing to the story.
  6. I was still a teenager back in the live days and while I knew a lot about power sets and the city zones, I knew next to nothing about the more intricate game mechanics. I also pretty much only played Scrappers and had a couple Blasters, and one Tanker. Never got a single Controller to 20, never played red ATs. Fast forward to Homecoming, and now I have more Dominators and Controllers than anything else, and only a few Scrappers (though I still love them). Being able to come back to this game has definitely been an awesome and informative experience. Many thanks not just to the HC team, but also to all of you for being here to make that experience possible.
  7. I constantly make dozens of mistakes all the time, but some of my bigger ones... 1) Wanted to adjust my costume at level 6 before trainers had the feature, and was afraid of the high level Steel Canyon mobs--so I got Hover and crossed the entire zone at 2 miles per hour. 2) Solo ran Manticore thinking that "set AVs to Elite Bosses" would help the last fight. I cut my losses when I realized my error. 3) Made a melee-only Blaster for a fun challenge run. Between "fun" and "challenge" only one of those ended up being true--take a guess!
  8. As long as their power is offensive and does at least something other than pure damage (even knockback), then it will briefly appear below your health bar window alongside all the other powers currently affecting you. You can right click those and see their effects (though they'll tell you numbers based on your AT and not the enemy's). Kind of a weird method and it only works on powers used against you, but it can still be helpful.
  9. Best bet is to use the darkest color Bright setting for most sets. Though I will say I'm a bit annoyed at Dark Armor in this regard--Minimal FX Obsidian Shield still has your character pulse a dark color, and No Fade/Pulse still has FX... with no way to compromise between these and get actual zero FX.
  10. Assassin's CRUSH Stalkers get Lightning Rod, you can't tell me that subtlety is necessary for the archetype!
  11. I generally don't take Hasten to complete my attack chains (I usually just grab too many attacks lol). I usually get it for 2 reasons: 1) for long-recharge buffs and nukes and whatnot to be usable more often, and 2) because there's almost always an open choice or three, and Hasten outshines any niche choice--and chances are I'm already devoting one of my 4 Pool choices to Super Speed anyways.
  12. I like a lot of the ideas posted here so far. Rather than echo them, I'll add another idea, though perhaps one people might not all like: removing the damage component of Mesmerize. This is of course assuming that damage will still break sleep after any other changes are implemented. The reason being that Controllers cannot readily give naptime to bosses like Dominators can, and you can't stack sleep if one of them inflicts damage. Edit: forgot to add, if the damage is removed from Mesmerize, then Mind Control will probably need an overall damage buff (it kinda does anyways, but y'know).
  13. I recall someone saying in the past that Wormhole has a sort of unique problem in that it simply fails to work on level 53 and 54 bosses, due to teleport magnitude being too high even for an incarnate to overcome. Is this still an issue? If so, definitely something to look at if Gravity Control is ever on the table for changes.
  14. I love and hate the way cone targeting works in this game. On one hand, it makes it frustrating to set up an ideal cone if the mob is semi-scattered: your cone has the area to hit all of them but not the midpoint to make that happen. But on the other hand it adds positioning mechanics to the game, which I do enjoy. Either way, melee cones should always require a target. Ranged cones, I suppose I'd be fine if they all worked like Nature's.
  15. I do agree that it's a shame most epic sets that offer an armor power all tend to be resist and not defense. That said, I'm not sure how to easily accommodate defense in those sets without breaking their theming, but if it could be done then that'd be nice.
  16. I love this idea and support it wholeheartedly. In addition, I wonder how possible it is to make the reverse: an offensive dummy that tests your defenses! It'd have to have some kind of interface though, so I've no clue how feasible that is.
  17. Energize is way too good as is--with a small amount of recharge you can easily perma it, and it just about removes the concept of endurance from the game with how much discount it gives you. Force of Thunder is an awesome aggressive power, and it doesn't need an ounce of recharge to have up always. I'm ok with these 2 powers never changing. As for Dark, no experience with that one, but I can see where you're coming from as it can't be used in a void like the other ones.
  18. The Crey Cryo Pistol should encase the target permanently in Carbonite, like what happened to Han Solo in Episode V.
  19. Honestly, if I didn't rely on Hasten for permadom, I wouldn't mind it getting nerfed or reworked somehow. But I'm not at all surprised that you had to survive that reaction considering this community's... distaste, shall we say, for nerfs or change.
  20. Most hearts stop working properly if a strong electric current interferes with the pacemaker cells. Add a chance to instantly slay biological targets for all electric attacks!
  21. I'm definitely in the camp of "give me all the pools" because I like having options, but this is pretty much the main roadblock in any build I make. I love Combat Jumping and I love Hasten, and Fighting is generally necessary to softcap defenses on non-melee. That leaves just one remaining Pool to play with, and as these new Pools get rolled out I can only look at them and decide that they're not worth sacrificing the CJ + Hasten + Fighting combo (especially if I grab Stealth or Maneuvers as 4th). I understand that it's just my own powergaming mentality that creates this problem... but nevertheless I still would love the option of more Pools. You still have the same max power total to work with so I can't see it being terribly unbalanced.
  22. Being able to target custom by $rank would be amazing. Some enemy groups have Bosses that are identical to lower rank targets, and it'd make it much easier to lock them down on fast-paced teams.
  23. I do like the idea of a regenerator getting more resilience the lower their HP gets. Weak to alpha but strong to consistent damage! I'd also like some minor buff to MoG, but considering how garbage most T9 armors are by comparison, I guess I shouldn't be too greedy.
  24. A simple change that I believe is easily possible is to make the Teleport power come double-packaged with the "hover" effect the current version has, that you could just toggle on for chain-teleporting but leave off for more fluid single ports. Also, maybe shorten the animation time? These changes alone would make one power useful in combat without sacrificing it's long distance travel. I dunno about the rest of the pool, I feel like a big overhaul would be needed.
  25. There's plenty of melee animations involving the left or both arms that aren't denied access to Shield. You'd just have to make it incompatible with the weapons: Dual Pistols, Bow and both Rifles. The rest I can't imagine would be a big deal. (Edit: forgot Bow)
