  1. Or it's too annoying to deal with IOs in the lower levels. Or the IOs available post 50 are a magnitude better than anything you can get pre-50. Which they are.
  2. Many folks on these forums and in game have wildly different definitions of fun. It has nothing really to do with critical detachment and everything to do with WHY folks play this game to this day. I'll just say this and leave it at that. EDIT: With that said a lot of the choices made for COH probably would need to be different for COH2. I for one would like to see (in the mythical COH2) a system for building characters that's more akin to Champions Online, and not the AT system again.
  3. I was referring to a team of sappers as has been suggested. To me that seems like a lot of effort versus just inviting some folks who can put something like a cold or rad debuff on the AV and going to town, damage wise.
  4. The merit rewards would really need to be worth it after you do the zone events, for most to even consider it over some of the other activities that currently can award high amounts of merits.
  5. Too much work for just a badge. I'd rather they use level restricting tech like that for something more important than the sewers.
  6. yeeeeah no. If it's a defeat badge, then it should be available to everyone regardless of level.
  7. Besides Rebirth, HC is probably as close to the original vision as you're going to get.
  8. Interesting discussion but with what you need to do, to do this, might as well debuff the AV and smack it in the fact till it dies.
  9. There is also Market Crash, which is guaranteed purple the first time you complete that tf, on a character. For anyone who doesn't know. 🙂
  10. Seriously but the quoted here is pretty much /thread. If you're seeing purples drop regularly then I'd argue THAT would be an issue. Rarity of some IO drops is one of the key reasons the AH exists in the first place. Only if you want to fully purple ONE power, the original devs did not expect that players would be getting those 5-6 purples from just playing the game.
  11. My expectation is that the devs will continue doing targetted buffs and nerfs. Wholesale changes to the IO system, AT system etc are out of the question. It's just not realistic to expect that (wholesale changes) AND still expect more Incarnate content, more pre-level 50 content, more and new costume pieces, new powersets, new ATs, etc., anytime before 2051. Thankfully it doesn't seem anyone in this thread has been crazy enough to expect the underlined above. This thread has been great theory crafting however.
  12. Would you still say it's an issue now that IOs allow Blasters to encroach on the "unkillable" area? And yes crashless nukes really were needed (and still are--anyone saying make them have a crash again wasn't here when most folks simply didn't take nukes.).
  13. Perhaps a question here is "why do we need more ATs if the ones that already exist do everything we need them to do?" I don't have an answer.
  14. Agreed. I actually really don't get this with the current meta of AOE, burn everything down. But I won't argue with folks who find that fun.
  15. Pretty much this, having read this thread to this point. I'm not playing Sent for any of their secondary or team abilities. LOL at that. I play them when I want, cause I can have range and armor . . . and combos I can't get in other sets.
  16. Yeah if folks are interested in teaming running story arcs is hard. You can easily outlevel your arcs no matter what side you are teaming on, except if you turn off xp. And even if you do, it doesn't really show the major parts of the story (clues, talking to the contact to advance the story etc) to the rest of the team. Goldside is best done solo, just like any content that is story focused.
  17. Those are popular also because of "ZOMG Giant Robot that looks similar to a Gundam"
  18. As long as it's properly labeled as content meant for IO'd out or Incarnated toons then there will be no issue. Just like folks have no issue with some content requiring the Alpha slot.
  19. And that change could still of end up not making it to Open Beta. When it's in Open Beta, that's a different story however. So then sure. Before, it's not guaranteed to even make it to production, or Open Beta.
  20. And even with all that I see plenty of people posting (and speaking in game) that the AH (especially with it's archaic bugs and UI) is terrible and NOT easy to get into. The fact that so many farm and STILL to this day think it's easier to farm than simply use converters is another example where I'm not so sure I'd say most players think it's easy to get to or get into. The recent changes the devs made in regards to the "influence at 50" setting and the shitstorm of a thread we had (with folks posting absolutely INCORRECT info about that AH and the market) shows that it may not be as easy or understandable as we think. Even for vets from live. EDIT: Hell there was a recent post in general (I think it was one of the weekly discussion threads made by the GMs) where folks where talking about the market and how it works, where multiple people who do know how it works (and have posted multiple guides on Live AND again here on homecoming) having to correct folks. I think we severely overestimate what players know about how to make inf in general and specifically about the inventions system, and more specifically about the AH and Market. The tutorials in game (if you can even call them that) are SEVERLY lacking. I think this thread makes some rather large assumptions about what players "know" about the inventions system. I'd like to see that aspect data mined a bit, before any decisions about "should IOs be required or the game balanced against them" be made. And I'd like the tutorials updated (or in the case of the AH actually created), and the AH UI revamped before we go there.
  21. Errr to the bolded I'd argue there are many more folks who make multiple characters and DON'T get them to 50. I don't think that is that ODD. With that said for this discussion, doesn't matter if those characters have IOs. Just thought it was funny with all us being City of Altholics. LOL The barrirer to COMMON (not set IOs) IOs is so low so as to make those who choose to opt into them, easy for them to get into. As I mentioned, I'd only agree to it being expected, if the acquisition of them changes to from having to craft them, to them dropping like SOs.
  22. This is why I keep bringing up crafting and the market during various points of this discussion. IOs are just the recipes and actual things you slot. When discussing whether to move the expectation from "everyone has at least SOs" to "everyone has common IOs and more advanced IOs" that has to be considered. The original caveat with the intro of Inventions all those years back was that it was completely optional. That includes crafting, and using the AH. The inherent question here is "should it still be fine for players to completely ignore the Inventions system while playing?" Or should there now be an expectation that AT SOME POINT during the life of your character that you HAVE to engage with the invtention system?
  23. I personally don't find posts "stuff is happening, that is subject to change and may never see the light of day" to be all that useful. (And could be detrimental in the long run for folks who don't understand or accept the "subject to change part"). I prefer how HC has been communicating. When they have something more concreate to tell us, they do. I don't need to know about wishlists or what they would like to do. I like to hear about what is actually coming.
  24. Hasten. I build in a way that I don't have to bother with Clarion. I've never actually selected that incarnate since being here on HC. On Live I took it on ONE character. If you build in a certain way it's not needed.
  25. TBH I'm fine with certain sets having certain powers and other not having them for the exact reasons you alluded to in the questions above. That's kinda the point of COH. We don't have the system the Champions Online has where you can pick any power from any set (the one that was in alpha here) so the only thing that adds variety is different powersets being able to do (and slot) different things. I'm fine with that.
