Not insulting the original developers. Technology was different back then. Example Storage is cheap today, back then it wasn't. I think the developers were working with what they had. I think today's developers for HC are just much smarter. Technology has moved forward so has coding or how games are coded. Even running a firewall back then is much more complex then it is today and all you had was a device that was a firewall and nothing else. Again unlike today when the device can be used as a firewall, IPS an IDS.. ETC or a combo of both. I believe HC dev's are doing what would be expected today if they were working for Cryptic on COH. I think the devs today are much smarter. I can see on some of the post when they talk about powers or coding it is like they want to say "You wouldn't believe WTF we are seeing.. You would not believe how F**Kup this code is.. How they missed some simple mistakes." But instead want to be polite and say we seen some mistakes and we fixed it. I think somethings today in this time do not make sense as they might have many years ago. Capes is one of those things. What is so magical about a cape that you need to do a mission to unlock them ? It should have been just another part of the costume. What they could have done is missions to unlock UNIQUE costume parts. But again I think that is just how games have evolved. The costume creator for COH was unique back then. Warcraft did not have transmog ( Transmog came with patch 4.3 in 2011, Googled it ) back then. But today again technology improved.. Graphics improved.. So many games now have costume creators and tranmog type of service, it is just a common almost expected thing in many games today. I am of mixed feelings with AE and Farming.. AE allows me the ability to make money I could not figure out or have the patience with playing the Auction House.. But it also stopped me from playing the game in a more "normal way". AE allows me to create my crazy petless masterminds that I can level to 50 and flesh out because I know I would not be invited onto a team. Even though the game is much easier today. For me the invention system I think did more harm. I always felts each player should be limited to how many invention sets or Invention IOs they should be allowed onto a build. This would prevent everyone with many different builds to be defense capped or resist capped or sometimes both to some degree. I believe the IO system just made every player SUPER POWERED.. You have literally 3 IOed capped players on a team and you can do just about any TF on a 4/8 setting. Every other player is just DPS at that point.. I also think it would have made Incarnate powers a bit more of value.. EG Barrier.. But when I am defense capped and I get one or two more buffs that now put me into the 70s for defenses and then some other buffs that buff up my resistances, barrier becomes a bit more useless. Another simple reality is the Devs do not have that time to manage a classic server. And of course my always on going conspiracy that this is all a free test to show NCSoft that a COH 2.0 is doable so they have to move forward with new stuff but that stays in line with the current game model. So they can't waste their time going back to Classic. The Current Devs need to show NCSoft that they have and can still do better then the original Devs.

Unfortunately the original developers pretty much made it where the player is just controlling the pets to fight and not too much of anything else. Can you mix in attacks ? Yes but for Mastermind endurance is an issue. Having pet wipes is an issue. Having yet another immediate pet wipe after the first is also an issue. End result you do too many attacks and your endurance is low you might be limited in how many pets you can summon on a pet wipe. You might not understand ATM what I am trying to describe but you will once you have all your pets.. Someone posted this a while ago, I wish I could give them credit. In summary they said either Masterminds can do some really amazing things or they fail miserably. Though you can't really do a super bad build, I personally think Masterminds have the least amount of wiggle room when it comes to builds.
-
I think the new COH 2.0 will be just that.. Powers that you pick where they come from.. So there will be Powers Sets but where they originate from will be customization. Masterminds might be more like Tech, Natural, Magic, Mutation.. ETC.. So Tech would have Robots like classic, Or have Cyborgs, or other mechanical models. The also might make robots power placement customizable as well. So missile swarm can come from a shoulder mounted pack or bursting out of chest or some super soaker gun.

Endgame Human Warshade AKA The Coffin Queen
plainguy replied to SableShrike's topic in Peacebringer & Warshade
I don't expect you getting a response. I don't think the player is posting and/or playing anymore. As mentioned above I copied the build to spec and was getting crushed very bad with mez. I mean it completely shut the character down.. Mez = Death. I am not big at all on Warshades or Peacebringers, but it definitely needs it. -
New costume options with Page Six should have new amazing costumes coming out..

I think Whips have been been combined with several other powers as well. I agree with all of them.. Whips Swords, Whip hand gun, Whip Axe, Whip Fire swords.. Basically Whips and any one handed weapon. Hey even dual whips like in Underworld Not going to lie would be nice if they could create one new whip animation. Assuming they had a volunteer with the skill. Only to show the old guard and Cryptic it can be done without them.

Took the time and looked at that video.. Very interesting.. I don't want to derail this thread here is the TL;DR I can only speak from my own person experience and my issues related to what that video was talking about. FOR ME AE farming did me in. Regular play does not give you the money to make the build you want at 50. I don't have the grasp or mindset to play the market.. I tried a few times and lost money.. Personally I think Masterminds could be much more. I believe that Masterminds should NOT Be all or nothing when it comes to pets.. I do believe that with Cryptic hands in here, this is nothing more than a testing ground and a new COH MMO will come out. ############ The Long Story ###################### I think AE farming ruined a lot of the game leveling experience to get to 50. I can say this because beyond a few level 50s I first started with, ALL of my builds are PL to 50. 8 builds out of about 25 level 50s ( which are full IOed ) are Semi-petless or Petless masterminds that I knew could NOT level without pets due to endurance issues or even with buffers on a team I could not join because I was petless. With 20+ IO level 50 builds I can tell you from personal experience I get burnt out, which is pretty much falls in line with the video. After a while I say so I got the build.. I am soloing 3/8.. What more.. My current off and on goal is to do an ITF on a petless mastermind ( minus the incarnate pet, which many solo ITF players use ) on a 0/8 or 1/8 setting without dying.. Current issue is having a stalemate on the mission with the computer and fighting the 2 AV's at the end.. Some builds I can't kill Rom and Rom can't kill me and other builds I just don't have enough inspirations and Healing is an issue. My goal personal goal with this as per the video, to show it can be done. To show that masterminds maybe don't have or maybe shouldn't have been an all or nothing Arch Type. Maybe the original devs weren't thinking it through. Maybe the Original devs just had too much on their plate and couldn't waste their time. Not saying the current devs do either.. Maybe NCSoft is looking, maybe someone at NCSoft happens to also be a player with some smarts and on the side says I figured this issue out. But of course this doesn't fix my problem of Power Leveling every toon to 50. Mind you I have tried to "Regular Play" with many of my regular builds and other Arch Types but I get one off night of not many teams around and after a few hours of Soloing I jump on to power level the toon. But once I am at that route I couldn't tell you what is a good level SO build for a level 33 Arch Type of a certain power set.. IF I was leveling up the "Regular Play" Style I would know as I was leveling what was lacking.. Maybe I needed more endurance ? More Health ? More Accuracy in a few key attacks ? I would be tweaking the build here and there as I go.. Again mind you I am probably not the best PL either.. I clearly read players doing it TONS more faster. But the advantage of Power Leveling also comes with the ability to build that level 50 IO build because you have enough fund or almost enough funds to get it going. Which does not happen if your leveling up during "Regular Play" . Of course some of the responses would be LRN2PLAY the market.. But what if I don't to play the market and just don't understand it that well to learn to make the amount of profits needed for a IO build. I think that at some time after obtaining 50 there should be a way to get a realistic IO build. Meaning NOT all purple rare winter IO build.. Some how the "Regular Play" has to incorporate the benefit of AE farming / Power Leveling in a financial sense. So what is my recourse.. I get burnt out and play Fallout 4 Horizon mod with no settlements for a challenge or Guild Wars 2 or even maybe reactivate my Wow account for a bit until I see something new come down the pipe for Endurance wise for Masterminds. I came on about 2 months into the opening. I Donated I think 200 or 250 and played for about 5 or 6 months solid before dropping off. Then I came back for a few more months.. My mindset This free MMO got more out of me than I would pay Yearly for a wow account and the COH people deserve it.. But again I will keep saying this.. I don't have any inside scoop. But I truly believe that COH is going to come back.. Just a more a more modern engine with all the ideas everyone has posted.. Again there is NO Superhero game out there to compete with.. They all died..
-
I would just go the traps tankermind approach.. Defense cap and Provoke.
-
This has been brought up several times. I wish they would have went this way long ago.. You pick the Arch type and then you pick how you want it to come out. So your Energy Blaster might be the standard one. But mine shoots from a Gun or even a Staff or mix and match..
-
Moving City of Hero's to the top is big for sure. As for the rest.. It is too cryptic for me to follow.. I am understanding some badges and some New TF that has requirements to unlock.
-
Something made me thing Masterminds as well.

Lots of good info. As nihilii pointed out I don't want derail my own thread with retarded comments.. It ends up being no longer about the request but the insults.. -

Very Nice Build.. Covers all the bases.. Defenses and Recharge..

Typed Defense cap. Short 5 pts on negative. MIDS is not showing me Dark Consumption numbers. My concern is the Endurance but you have 2 end procs in Stam and Health. I don't know if the proc in dark consumption will work all the time or only when using the power. Of course Alpha incarnate or Cardiac would fix any end issues. Was thinking Burnout for double AOE attack chain. EDIT- I think Touch From Beyond and Dark Consumption will have you covered with endurance. I went Range Cap Hoverblaster with my AR Device skipping Trip mine and it is great because Gun Drone does NOT get that much aggro from a DISTANCE.. If you go for Trip mine then you are naturally going to be looking to be on the ground. Which means your Gun Drone(s) will get killed in seconds from the AOE Taunt they have.. I have a DP/Device and between Hail of Bullets and Trip mine its a pretty good combo.. BUT that change to Gun Drone just kills them off in SECONDS.. I have literally tried Hail of Bullets, Trip Mine, Bullet Rain and then summoning Gun Drone hoping to have enough aggro but I just cannot peel mobs off Gun Drone at melee range.. I used my AR Device to PL my Fire Rad Brute farmer..

Wilky to me Streaming screams to me of trying to make a profit from streaming games like many do.. Don't get me wrong I wish as well I was of those people making 100k a year just streaming and getting sponsors.. But I can see NCSoft getting bent out of shape from someone making cash on something they are not.. Its greedy but that is the way corporate is.. Again I really do think there is a bigger picture here they are not telling.. Which again I get as well. This is big deal for the HC team.. regardless this is a GREAT resume addition for any type of IT work.. I just want in when they do. Because I was smart enough to figure it out out 😉
