  1. I started in 2005 as an Inv/WM tanker on Victory named Phrendon Largo. Did about everything wrong with that character I could. He survived because I had a good friend, a Fire/Fire blaster named Praxitas who helped murder things for me. War Mace was not as strong as it is now. But I was invulnerable, once I knew to take mez protection and not just eat break frees. Phrendon wore a baseball cap and blue jeans to start out, with a t shirt. His back story was an ex policeman(was forced to retire) who lost most of his hearing in a bomb explosion which gave him bad headaches and ringing in the ears. He still wanted to protect his town though. So he fought the good fight. Phrendon Largo now plays on Indomitable. He is Radiation Armor/War Mace. Say hello when you see him. He likes that.
  2. On Main I had an incarnate level AR/Dev blaster. I remade him on HC as a Beam rifle/Ninjitsu Sentinel. It works well. Im not an AoE focused blaster anymore, but a boss killer. Incarnate powers have given me enough AoE to do that when I have to.
  3. My first Corruptor on live was Energy Blast/Traps. What a horrible first choice. I never could get synergy with that character. Very hard to play, took leaping instead of Fly. Just ugh!. Couldn't really play a corruptor until on HC I have an Ice Blast/ Bubbler which is easier to play. I still have never created a dominator. The thought of having to get a power to Perma before it becomes good is just a huge turnoff. On live I had a Warshade that I play human preferred. She was a struggle but when she was all done was quite a powerhouse. I played WarMace when it was considered the weakest tanker secondary, and still do. My main, namesake used to be Invul/WM on live and now on HC is Rad Armor/WM and I love him. He evolved to be superior mutant incarnate. I find scrappers boring, Brutes a lot of work. Blasters still squishy. Sentinels as awesomely overpowered but so what. MM are challenging but fun. Defenders a necessary evil. Stalkers are melee blasters. I always thought only stalkers could one shot foes in melee until I played my Energy Brute. He one shots everything. Sorry for this really rambling post. But it kind of exemplifies why this game is so great and still is. So many options.
  4. If it's minutely less, can't you just +1 it if you're worried?
  5. Doesn't the Widow already give you melee and buff team concept?
  6. The good thing about Ninjitsu is that you don't need to autofire the click status protection. You can keep the Autofire reticle on Hasten, and just click antimez when and if you get mezzed. Facing a tough boss, you'll want to fire it preemptively, but against most content, the mez attack is not going to hit you anyway because of your defense. I just use it as a free on demand break free button.
  7. Now that I'm level 42, and just slotted up to 45s. Ice Armor is starting to come into its own. I was hoping for a stun proc to go into Chilling Embrace, but it doesn't look like one is available. That seems like something that thematically would work well. Perhaps the new devs could add it at a later date? Slow sets currently just have chance for recharge slow, and chance for smashing damage.
  8. I just dropped an Energy Manipulator:Chance to Stun into my Defender's Voltaic Sentinel. Is that the best place for it?
  9. Range to the Right, it goes further that way, trust me.
  10. As a melee person, I gather them all around me and pop all the minions first, then LT I whittle down to sliver of life (if there's more than one, switch targets) then one punch as fast as possible the louies before vengence has a chance to affect my to hit. War Hulks and Fakes are not as bad as say, a Paragon Protector Boss that goes unstoppable. as a melee, if there is a sniper I get away from the team, head over to it and kill him first.
  11. There is at least one hero alignment mission against Malta that you have to make it through 4 or 5 sapper led ambushes after you beat the boss. So there's also that one. Was challenging for my EM/Inv Brute. I had to stand by the entry door and pop out if they drained me. Yeah, that felt like cheating but, it kept me alive. However, my Rad/WM tank didn't care. My BeamRifle/Ninja Sentinal didn't care. My Ill/TA Controller barely cared. All depends on your powersets. Resistance based defenses will have more trouble than defense based. Even if you're not at cap, just carry purples so they hit you less. But like others have said, hit them first before they see you, when you can (not always possible). I like to take my time when I do Malta missions so that I minimize mistakes. I am thinking my Beast/Nature MM will find the aforementioned Hero mission a challenge.
  12. My first character was an inv/mace mutant tank. Started in Galaxy City because BABs was there. Once I got through the Vahz, without any status protection into my early 20's (didn't know I needed it) facing Tsoo. They kept sleeping me. To this day I still clobber a Yellow Ink Man first whenever and wherever I encounter them. That was an aggravating first experience to this game.
  13. I had a Dark/Dark/Soul Stalker on live and it was one of my 2 or 3 favorite characters to play, period, across all Archtypes. Can't bring myself to make a new one however. Still trying to make new combos work. Death is but a doorway, you make it work for you with this combo. 🙂
  14. Running a lvl 37 Street Justice/Ice Armor stalker, not a popular combination. I think I know why... EA (Energy Absorption) seems much weaker for a Stalker than it was for a tank. I played an Ice/Fire tanker on live and EA was freaking awesome. On a stalker, not only do you have to wait until lvl 35 to take it, it just doesnt have the same power to save you that it did on my tank. Disappointed 😞 I have it 4 slotted with 3 End Mod and one Def, I may change it to 2 rech, 1 end mod and 1 def and see if that helps.
  15. Because sometimes you want to show up a blaster team mate.
  16. Spanky Rabinowitz! Now THAT was a leader! Get OFF my lawn!!!!
  17. It's intentionally made harder to kidnap than to rescue, because.....villains. Go figure.
  18. Old man here. I really have no issue with any teams I have been on. Some require more strategic approaches depending on the composition of the team. My biggest issue is with the absolute sillyness of Rikti Mothership Raids. It absolutely doesnt matter what you do. You don't know who you're even targeting, it doesn't really matter just stand in the middle and collect XP. But my best friend in this game loves doing them. It's his go to thing to do. When I can coerce him to join me in some old school 2 man team ups, that's when I have my fun. But, whatever....end rant.
  19. A bike helmet and a cycling kit would be nice for the costume designer. My main pretends to bike around the city but I use the jet board because - no bikes. See. There's roleplaying on Indomitable too 🙂
  20. I use Indy Port a lot, as the base beacon, science store, trainer and tram are all close. Never get teams their though unless its to murder the GM. Plus I like to use the SE corner for lvling up late 20's characters. Family and Tsoo there, and a magic store close.
  21. Well , it's not all end game with this game. That's why it has such great appeal. Ouro was made for you to revisit your younger less impressive self and still be heroic/villainous. Sometimes when I am really bored with high end stuff I'll choose a favorite zone, use ouro to lvl limit myself then go on patrol. Use your imagination, that's really your only limit.
  22. I loved the Vigilante Arc, Felt like Justice was served.
  23. War Mace also has Crowd Control, which is a huge cone attack, definitely don't skip that one. I wouldn't skip anything in Rad Armor either. Meltdown you only use when you're really in trouble, which isn't too often. but it's good to have that extra layer of protection. This is speaking as a RadArmor/WM tanker. I'm assuming the Brute sets are identical.
