Sonic Time would be a beast. You'd offer something of everything. I've never been a fan of playing Kin, though I appreciate the buffs. Try both till 20, see which you like. Time is personally safer for you as a defender.

IIRC Protector Bot's bubble is 7% defense unslotted. Your other bots get two of them stacked. You and each Protection Bot only get one. How much this helps friends on how much other defense you have.

From Soul, you can get Darkest Night with -to hit and -damage. Let's you be a mini debuffer. With Soul it's only on a 10 second recharge, too.

QFT. Plus Field Medic passive makes Medicine Pool QoL so much better with no interrupts.

Good points above. I am not rich yet, so I find ways to save on costs. 1. Group until level 22. Until then sell everything, don't slot any enhancers. Sell them. When you hit level 22, craft basic level 25 IOs. If you need Inf, do an Oro flashback mission for ,8+ merits, buy converters and sell them to get a starting purse. In fact, once you are slotted up at 22, go back and do all your old Oro missions to rack up merits and earn some badges. Don't waste a Respec if you don't want to reroll. Instead create a new alternate build. You get one at 10th.

I can try to put something together tomorrow night. Is this for either teaming or soloing AVs? What's the focus?

Sonic on a defender has great stacking -Res. Results in things dying faster. Siren Song will let you solo annoying spawns. The sounds are kind of retro spacey sounds. I don't mind them, but I could see how it might bother some. I've never been able to get into Beam, so I can't compare it fairly...

What's the damage like?

Sorcery and inspirations for when debuffs and buffs fail. Until Clarion. With provoke I don't need to keep the attention all the time, just enough to spread out the damage.

Ancedotal experience: playing on Everlasting, never had this problem. Same when I played on Virtue back in the day. FWIW, I'm not a RPer, I just like the RP communities. :)

Pain likes recharge. You can also build for defense. Someone just posted a def capped /Pain build around here in the last 24 hours...

Eventually you'll get a good sense of timing on the shield duration and you will be applying them before they drop but not too early.

That's what I do. I'm primarily a Red-side player, but I visit Gull the Null in Pocket D, get turned into a Rogue, and so I can do both sides depending. I was in a Virgil Tarakos SF recently, was a lot of fun. I tend to group until I get big bot too. Then I go back to Oro and do the lowbie missions I glossed over. Have fun!

Good thoughts Oldskool. I agree its all about personal mileage, but having solid info to work with is important, so appreciate your insights.

Most Sentinel builds (with the exception of Fire/, /Fire or /Bio) will have lower damage as a tradeoff for safety. If you can work with it until you start to slot up and IO, and then Incarnate, you'll get better results and damage will be better. But its consistent damage that doesn't worry about faceplanting, so definitely not the high-risk high-reward Blaster lifestyle. Take this with a grain of salt, hwoever, as I play and enjoy Defenders (even solo), so my tolerance for lower damage is higher than most.

This is good to know. So the search results on AH will turn up both unattuned AND attuned versions of the desired IO? This is not for recipes, just enhancements, yes? (so far I've only purchased recipes)

Here's a basic build that you can use. I'd work first on the two +Defense and +Resistance bonuses from the Pets and Recharge Intensive Pets sets. The ATO ones you can work on next, depending on cost. Hell on Earth is your mule for carrying those IOs. Demon Prince can use a couple of procs, what you want to use is up to you, or you could use some of the slotting to enhance his controls. I put in Corruption, since its a good quick-cycling -RES attack with range, and will help you take down harder targets. Lots of the slotting is up to you, I'd go with 25 IOs once you hit 22nd level and then higher as you level, depending on your budget. You should see solid performance with just the pet aura IOs above, and even before then. TBH, Patron Pool doesn't really matter, just get what fits your concept and your playstyle. Have fun!
