As for me, my favorite hero is Captain America (at least for the time being.) I just love seeing his sheer willpower to stand against any antagonist who would threated the world and/or universe.

My least favorite hero is probably Quicksilver, because I feel he didn't really get as much character development as I thought he should.

I have three favorite villains; Loki, Thanos and Erik Killmonger.

My least favorite villain is probably Malekith. I just thought he was boring as a villain.

My favorite actor is probably Robert Downey Jr.

My least favorite actor is probably Christopher Eccelston, who played Malekith.

My favorite movie is Avengers: Endgame.

My least favorite movie is Thor: The Dark World.

My own addition:  I don't know why, but I also really like Iron Man 2 - I know it gets panned a lot, but it's sort of a guilty pleasure of mine.  Drunk Stark pissing his suit, Venko's "byurds", the "Hammeroids", Iron Man & War Machine fighting back to back, and seeing all those failed Iron Man knock-offs are just entertaining to me...

I've watched all the films, although I caught up with the early ones retroactively after, hmm, somewhere around Guardians of the Galaxy, I think.  It's pretty much my only form of interaction with Marvel superheroes.  It was quite interesting to suddenly understand things about CoX, like why there are quite such stupid-looking horns in the character creator, and why Archery exists as a powerset in a modern world game.

 

Who is your favorite hero? - This is a very hard question to answer.  Most fun to watch, best at heroing, person I would most like to hang out with and chat?  I'm so paralyzed with indecision now that I'm just going to say Ant-Man and move on.

Who is your least favorite hero? - Bucky Barnes.  I don't have anything specific against him, he's just sort of...there.  It's like they never really figured out what to do with him beyond a MacGuffin.

Who is your favorite villain? - The Civil War dude.  Zemo. Also Loki, until he got a bit redeemed and much less fun.  He's great in Avengers, though (stupid horns notwithstanding).

Who is your least favorite villain? - The robot dude in Age of Ultron.  Not that James Spader doesn't do a bang-up job, but he was just sort of randomly evil and lacking in motive and logic. 

Who is your favorite actor? - RDJ.  He's never anything less than 100% giving it his all.  I love the quote from some thing with Chris Evans where he says, "Downey comes to these movies and gives a f*ck.  He gives a f*ck.  It makes you feel like, 'Should I be giving more of a f*ck?'"

Who is your least favorite actor? - I liked Chris Hemsworth at first, but as time goes on he's less Thor and more Chris-Hemsworth-with-a-hammer.  I still like him, I just find it grating.  I semi-agree with the point about Mark Ruffalo, but I think he's fine in some things and much less good in others.  Maybe it's down to the director?

What is your favorite movie in the MCU? - The one I've  watched the most times is probably Avengers.  I do like Winter Soldier, though.  And Civil War.  And Black Panther.  Also the Ant-Man movies.

What is your least favorite movie? - I think the one I enjoyed least in the cinema was probably Thor: Ragnarok.  And I didn't hate that, or feel like I'd wasted my money, I just enjoyed it least.

 

(Although honestly, my answer to almost all of the 'your favourite' questions is some variation on Venom.  But clearly that doesn't count.)

I don't think most people truly appreciate just how good they have it these days as far as movies go.

 

I grew up in the late 1970's, and read comic books throughout the 1980's into the 1990's. This was a time when comic books were read for their stories and discussed with friends. Comics were not just bought, backed, and bagged as a potential future income source. I actually read hundreds of issues of Fantastic Four, The Avengers(East and West Coast), Uncanny X-Men, Excalibur, Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and many, many more. I used to read every monthly column that Stan Lee would write, and I don't give a damn what some "woke" millenials think about him and his friendship with Jack Kirby or whoever else they want to feign indignity in the name of. There were some great stories in those old comic books, and I loved the good ones. Like Emperor Doom, the Infinity Saga, Secret Wars, Annihilus and the Negative Zone, the Evolutionary War... there's still so much untapped potential beyond those few.

 

Maybe it's because I've been a nerd for my entire life, but I can't help but shed a few tears while watching these films. Mostly it's the music which stirs old emotions of nostalgia, remembering that I never thought I'd get a chance to see this stuff done up right in a movie. I felt the same way about Lord of the Rings 20 years ago. I knew they didn't get the story verbatim, things were changed and some characters were left out or ommited entirely, but what they got right was better than I could have imagined! Things in the MCU are not exactly the same as the comics, nor should they be. It's a different format, it's a different time, and I'd rather go into a movie not knowing exactly how things are going to turn out than have a damned checklist making marks in the right or wrong column throughout the show.

 

I loved all of the Netflix Marvel shows, and the Runaways, and Cloak and Dagger, and I even liked the Inhumans(for what it was)!

 

I am by no means young, but I'm not elderly either. I saw the original Star Wars in the theaters the summer before my 4th birthday, and it blew my little mind. The music, the spectacle, the action and adventure, that movie was a paradigm shift in entertainment. However, this is only said to give you some perspective as to where I'm coming from and just how many movies I've watched throughout my life. I've watched "the greats", Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Scorcese, Kubrick, etc. Keep in mind that music, movies, books... ranking and rating these things is entirely subjective.

 

My favorite hero is whoever happens to be on-screen at the moment, I don't have a least favorite.

Same thing for favorite villain, and actor/actress.

 

My favorite movie is the only movie of its kind.

Nothing like it has ever existed in cinematic history, with 22 tie-in movies leading up to it, and it's doubtful that there will ever be another movie like it.

 

In my opinion, Averngers: Endgame is The Greatest Movie of All Time.

I remember going to see Star Wars when I was about 6 or 7 yrs old, I read comic books as a kid, fell in love with superheroes thanks to shows like Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and DC's Super Friends, got heavily into comics as a teenager when I stumbled over the Hawk and Dove miniseries and not looked back since!

 

And yes, I remember the long years of awful adapations of our heroes, such as the Hulk/Thor TV movie spin off from the classic series (although I still loved it 😄 )

 

So, yeah, I LOVE the MCU! I'm not as big a Marvel aficionado as some people, but I know enough to understand basics so I loved seeing how it was adapted and I've loved every single one of them. And it is so heartbreaking to see so many people complain about tiny aspects of them because "it's not right, they changed it, WAAAA!"

 

I'm of a simple mindset where I just enjoy something. I don't try to nit pick a movie for fine details, plot holes, little errors etc, I just enjoy them if I enjoy them. The only time I don't enjoy them is when they get the basic fundamentals of a character wrong, the recent Superman/Justice League movies being a perfect example of that, but I don't complain endlessly about it either. I keep an open mind for every movie and I LOVED Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam, they were all excellent 😄

 

Honestly, as superhero fans, this is the best we have ever had it. Numerous great movies, awesome TV shows that capture the spirit perfectly (Arrowverse and Crisis I adored 😄 ) fantastic animation like Spider-Verse and Young Justice., even novels based on our heroes and villains to read!

 

Plus, I still love Doctor Who as well, there's another toxic fanbase if you want petty and pathetic "fans" 😄

 

We're in a golden age, people, enjoy it! 😄

I've seen all the films - I think, I'm pretty sure I'm not missing any - and I just kind of let the solo ones wash over me. Seeing Iron Man was really cool and I loved it, but by now the formula is pretty apparent and it's hard to really get excited about any of it beyond "hey, this is something I can zonk out to for 90 minutes". Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a genuinely good film, though, and I enjoyed the Spider-Man ones. The big event ones like Civil War and Infinity War are loud, stupid and left me feeling like I had vaguely wasted my time, but hey, that's every event comic Marvel puts out, so in a way they're perfect adaptations!

The Netflix stuff I didn't watch all of but generally what I did see was good. I watched Daredevil S1 and 2 and those were good, caught Punisher S1 and that was good. Luke Cage S1 was decent enough though got weaker as it went on. Skipped Jessica Jones because I was never a fan of the Alias comic, Iron Fist S1 was awful and I never watched further - I'm a huge IF fan and that show was absolutely heinous. Killed any interest I had in watching Defenders, also. Haven't checked out Cloak & Dagger because those characters have never not been lame as hell.
I saw that there's going to be a Moon Knight show and I'm a really big fan of that character so I'll end up watching that at some point, though I'm sure not paying for Disney+. Out of the movies I guess I'm most interested in how the Shang-Chi one turns out.

I was a prime candidate for Star Wars, I was 13 in 1977 when it came out and actually couldn't get it out of my head for days after I saw it. I grew up in Rural Ohio did not have Cable TV and mostly read a lot. Not just Comics ( which I did ), but a lot of SciFi and Science fact. Had a photo lab in the basement. My brothers and I shot several " Stop Motion " 8mm Films ( our family had 1 girl and 5 boys ) and would dream up ways to create practical special effects. Always had a soft spot for the comics though.

 

Favorite Hero; Tie: Iron Man / Captain America ( kinda 2 sides of the Hero Coin, You always knew there would be an Oil / Water point )

Least Favorite: Hulk ( They just waited too late to give him a voice, when they did, it was cool, but in the comics he ALWAYS talked, just very basically )

Favorite Villain: Loki ( Just can't picture him being any more entertaining, although, very unlike the comic version. Tom Hiddleston is Amazing )

Least Favorite: Mandarin ( Sir Ben K did an excellent Job with the role he was given, but it was a waste of one of Iron Man's most Iconic Adversaries to use him that way )

Favorite Movie: Avengers Endgame ( Was the first time ever that so many movies were tied together, and a well pulled off Finale to ten years of movies )

Least Favorite: Tie: Hulk / The Incredible Hulk ( Can't believe I'm the only one to go here, the first one was Marvel Reworking while on Acid, Recast, Reboot, Recast, Reboot )

Back in my day (14 when Star Wars came out, since that seems to the touchstone in this thread) comics were freaking everywhere.  You could stumble on them...  Now comics are for collectors and uber nerds and are only found at specialty shops.

It was different for me as I live in the UK and they just weren't that prevalent here outside of specialist comic books. Over here we mostly had UK comic books like the Beano, Dandy, Whzzer and Chips etc, with older fans getting the like of 2000 AD, hardly anywhere sold any "proper" US comics liek DC or Marvel. I only found some when my Nanna was in hospital and I went to visit her and went to the little gift shop outside the hospital which had about 6 or 7 DC comics in there, one of which was Hawk and Dove mini series issue 2, one was Starman issue 1 and also a Teen Titans annual. I bought those threee, read them, loved them, hunted down a comic book store in my home city centre and never looked back 🙂

Anything before that was just single stories that appeared in various UK publications, usually reprints of DC and Marvel stuff. I remember a couple of the storylines when I got them in the original format, but there was very little actual constant release of any US lines

 

So, yeah, when I look around the world today, with numerous TV shows, movies, animation and full access to comic books online, it's a bloody golden age for me 🙂

Ok, time for the old school old fart to jump in, get your stunned looks ready for your "how can you say that" reactions. 

 

Best hero- Thor, even with all the stupid things they have done to him in the movies, Thor will always be the Superman of Marvel to me. (crazy enough to own a 14 pound metal replica of Mjlolnir)

Worst hero - Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel is the big red cheese), Binary, Warbird, whatever the hell name she is using now. The most powerful hero in the MCU, you can kiss my ass on that one.

Favorite villain - Loki. He was always interesting. The Thanos stories were utter garbage so he's out, and Loki just out-appears everything else. You never know what you will get with Loki, I enjoy that.

Worst Villain - No blame to Josh Brolin but Thanos was crap. Stripped of most of his powers. Having to use an army, when he has the gauntlet? Thor lust lopes his head off. Stupid from start to finish.

Favorite Actor - None. I don't give a shit who plays the role as long as it's done well. I have been through 7 Supermans now (not counting animated) and it just doesn't make enough difference to matter. RDJ doesn't want to play anymore, no problem, get another actor. I went to the Marvel movies to see the character, the actors meant nothing to me.

Least favorite actor - None, all have done a decent enough job so far. Aside from their fear of costumes, I have no complaints.

Favorite Movie - This was quite tough, I liked most of them until recently. I will go with the original Avengers for providing so many thrills that could only be duplicated after that.

Worst Movie - Finally an easy one. With no competition even close, Endgame sits atop the stinker pile. Now I know most of you never read the comics, I did and they were brilliant, just awe-inspiring. The movies took about 10% of the story and just bullshitted their way through the rest. The main heroes were not in the movie (The Avengers defeat Thanos alone, what a complete joke, in the comics Thanos fought and defeated the "Cosmic brigade" featuring Galactus, The Stranger, Sentinel, Lord order, Master Hate, etc, etc,. The star of the whole story was Adam Warlock and you didn't see him once. There there's all the crying at the end of the movie while I was sitting there furious. Someday I hope they have the courage to do the actual story so I can forget about the hallmark card they created.

To start I have to say that being a not-that-young person I really appreciate the sheer amount of media that I'm getting nowadays, DCU and MCU have been fun, barring a couple of misfires, so much better than a lot of stuff that came before, and it doesn't feel like it's pandering to the typical audience, they know geeks are watching, we know the lore, we've seen the characters before and we're getting nice/new interpretations of these heroes most of the time,

 

Who is your favorite hero? Captain Marvel, loved the powerset, loved how it was interpreted, really happy they retconned her origin

Who is your least favorite hero? I think Scaret Witch, just because she hasn't been given a clear characterisation, hopefully the tv show will fix that

Who is your favorite villain? Ego, the way that was handled made the character a really pleasant surprise, and Russel really made you want to see him go down

Who is your least favorite villain? I think Ultron, he just didn't make sense to me as a character, his choices seemed random, couldn't get into his head

Who is your favorite actor? Too many, Sam Jackson as Fury is great, Chris Evans rocks, Brie Larson did an amazing job, Jude Law for turning a one note character like Yon Rogg into someone multi-dimensional, Benedict Wong for being the most memorable actor from a film that had some crazy talent, and so on. I think that 90% of the casting has been great

Who is your least favorite actor? Ed Norton, felt nothing from him, thought that he didn't sell the role

What is your favorite movie in the MCU? The first Thor is one I can rewatch a lot, plot is simple and straightforward but it lands for me, and the casting was amazing

What is your least favorite movie? A toss up, I definitely didn't enjoy Incredible Hulk, preferred Ang Lee's over it. Iron Man 2, Thor 2, and Avengers 2, watched them and forgot them

 

However I should add that after Endgame I started to get hero-fatigue, still watching stuff however, since then I've watched less, haven't seen the second Holland Spider-man, might not get around to it. Last thing I watched was Doom Patrol, loved how they worked the Morrison run in throughout the series arc

Who is your favorite hero?  Steve Rogers/Captain America.  I have a deep affinity with the Greatest Generation, and Rogers exemplifies their character.  Phil Coulson and Peggy Carter would be close seconds, though they're mostly developed in the TV shows.  There was that Marvel One Shot with Coulson, though...

 

Who is your least favorite hero?  Probably Captain Marvel.  I tend not to like overpowered characters.  I prefer characters with  limited powers tested and tried in extraordinary ways.  For that reason, I don't always like how the Hulk is portrayed in other works outside the MCU, but at times, including in the MCU he's seen to be a vulnerable character mentally/emotionally, and that kind of balances things out.  Thor might fall into that category too, but in MCU his emotional rollercoaster kept him interesting.

 

Who is your favorite villain?  That's a tough one.  MCU has been criticized for not fleshing out most of their villains, and I think there's some justification for that.  He wasn't developed enough, I'd really hoped for a multi-story arc, but I'd probably go with the Red Skull.  Arnim Zoloff was pretty interesting too.

 

Who is your least favorite villain?  Faux-Mandarin Trevor.  Such a wasted opportunity and with Ben Kingsley right there! 

I also didn't much care for the interpretation of Zimo, too "emo" for what I know of the character, though at least they didn't glue a Mushmouth mask to his face.  ("Zimo the Emo"?)  I do, however, look forward to his reappearance in "Falcon & the Winter Soldier"  Here's hoping they get it right this time.  Also Strucker was criminally underused, and Ultron was a joke.  I really expected a cold Terminator-like presence with him. Did you notice he had steel lips that moved?

 

Who is your favorite actor?  Tough one again.  Probably Chris Evans, though Hayley Atwell and Clark Gregg  were, just as their characters, right up there with him.  Honorable mention goes to Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane.

 

Who is your least favorite actor?  Brie Larson

 

What is your favorite movie in the MCU?  Probably "The Winter Soldier", though I have a great love for "The First Avenger" as well.

 

What is your least favorite movie?  Probably "Thor: Dark World".  I can barely remember it.  Every other MCU movie I recall.

Note that there are two movies in the Least Favorite category, the first one directed by Ang Lee, followed by the Ed Norton one.

The Hulk corner of the MCU will have a chance at redemption in the near future. She-Hulk is in development, which if they stick to the origin will give Mark Ruffalo another appearance as Professor Hulk, which would be excellent. Not sure if they plan on regularly breaking the Fourth Wall as the comic did ( ala Deadpool ), but I hope they keep the Humor, that was a great book. Still have the first dozen or so issues of that one hidden away.

OK, so first off, I'm not a comic book guy.  I can't say I've read any, so this is just a Movie Fan perspective.  The MCU movie series, IMHO is the best cinematic experience in existence.  About 40 hours of story and characters all tied together into a single world.  The first Avengers movie really took the story quality up a level... Civil War raised the bar again with Character complexity.  Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Spiderman showed us they could play around with the formula and still deliver progression in the overall story.  Then Infinity War + Endgame just gave a huge gut punch to finish off the main story arc.  I loved it all... sure I can point to some stuff I don't like, but generally I'm a big fan.

 

I'm working my way though the Netflix stories now.  So far I'm impressed with all of them except the Iron Fist.  I'm pushing through Season 1, but honestly if it wasn't for a desire to watch them all in order, I'd be skipping this series.  After 5-6 episodes it just hasn't drawn me in like the others.  The main superhero isn't very interesting.  He's supposed to be this ultimate martial artist, but he actually gets beat up a lot before finally winning.  His alter ego isn't very interesting.  I mean, it's Batman basically, but if Batman was really bad at being Bruce Wayne.  The badguys are only badguys because the Iron Fist is fighting them.  I'm about 10 shows in, they haven't really done anything bad yet... there's no "coming disaster" that needs to be stopped.. or if there is, I've totally missed it.

 

I was into Agents of Shield for about 5 seasons.   But they lost me when they started jumping around in time and space.

 

Agent Carter is on my list to watch, but I haven't seen it yet.

 

Who is your favorite hero?  -- Tough one.  I'm going to give it to Thor... but mostly based on his performances in the non-Thor movies.

Who is your least favorite hero?  -- Vision hasn't done much besides come into existence, have 1 moment (picking up Thor's Hammer), and then die.   So maybe it's unfair to say him, but I'm not particularly interested in knowing him better, either.

Who is your least favorite villain?  Ego.  Just not interesting.  His main purpose in the story is to give Star Lord backstory.

Who is your favorite actor?  Chris Evens.  He does Captian America so perfectly... and that's really important to the success of the series.

Who is your least favorite actor?  Brie Larson was just awful.  Is she supposed to be a robot?  Chris Pratt gets old after a while.  His jealousy of Thor was funny in concept, but was already old by the final scene of Endgame.

What is your favorite movie in the MCU?   Infinity War... that feeling of a packed theater dead silent after the movie ended... I mean, people were so shocked they were slow to get up and leave after the credits finished.

What is your least favorite movie?  Thor 2 - Should have been better... I like the concept, just not executed well.  Guardians 2 almost got my vote, but was saved by Baby Groot.  I guess the hulk movies are probably even worse than Thor 2, but I really don't think it is fair to count them.

 

 

OK... 1 more comment.   HULK...  I could almost put him as both my favorite hero and least favorite hero.  I loved him in avengers 1 & 2 and Ragnorok.   Was disappointed with him in the early films and hated what happened to his character in Infinity War and Endgame.

Who is your favorite hero?  My favorites from way back have been Doctor Strange and Ms. (Captain) Marvel (please, no hate over naming conventions).

Who is your least favorite hero?  I've never had much use for Hawkeye.

Who is your favorite villain?  Loki is the only villain who's had any sort of character development in MCU.  Dormammu was a favorite from comics, but MCU buildup vs. payoff ratio just wasn't there.

Who is your least favorite villain?  Mandarin was incredibly mishandled in MCU.

Who is your favorite actor?  Michael Pena steals every scene he's in.  I also like Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and Chris Evans really became Captain America for the MCU.  And I love me some Hayley Atwell.

Who is your least favorite actor?  Jeremy Renner.  As with his character, I have no use for him.  And as much as I love Captain Marvel, I'm not so sure how I feel about Brie Larson (who was also pretty forgettable in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World).

What is your favorite movie in the MCU?  Aside from Endgame, I go back to my favorite heroes:  Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel.  Doctor Strange is as trippy as I'd hoped it would be, and Captain Marvel's climax is straight-up wish fulfillment.

What is your least favorite movie?  Thor: The Dark World.

We're about to get a whole lot more of Vision, with the MCU's streaming "WandaVision".  I've a fair guess as to story plot.  What I can't figure out is how much of the actual character of Vision will be on display.

I assume you're referring to the DC/Marvel fight over the Captain Marvel name.  Not hating but I'd point out that Marvel Comics, in their effort pound the dead horse that is their company name, have also created a Ms. Marvel that isn't Carol: Kamala Khan.  

 

Agreed regarding the Mandarin.  Fortunately, the Marvel One-Shot "All Hail The King" made it clear that neither character who claimed to be the Mandarin was in fact the real thing.  We'll get to see him, hopefully soon in the upcoming "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"

Captain America: The Winter Soldier sold me on Cap.  It's the first time Marvel really made an effort to show just what he was capable of doing, and they did it beautifully.  Seeing him in action was one of the biggest thrills I've experienced from watching movies.  The scenes on the Lumerian Star, the way he destroyed a jet in 20 seconds, the final fight, it was just astounding to see a guy doing with his bare hands what Iron Man needs an entire suit to accomplish.

Starmunch.  He's nothing but an irritation in every scene.  He's not heroic, he's not interesting, he's not even amusing.  All he seems to bring to the franchise is being the idiot who makes other people roll their eyes and shake their heads.  I was delighted when he disintegrated.  If he hadn't thrown his idiotic temper tantrum, Stark and Co. would've disarmed Thanos and the snap never would've happened.

I'm going to have to give this one to Toomes (The Vulture).  There was motivation beyond simplistic greed or vengeance or insanity, solid character development, and he was relatable.  He wasn't some pouting man-child monologuing about revenge, or a power-hungry plot device, or a deliberately over-powered villain who existed just to bring "the team" together, he was a guy.  Just a guy.  He was worried about his family, he was worried about his employees and their families, and he crossed a line that he never really thought about crossing before.  He took one step down the dark path, found himself taking another step, and another, until he knew there was no going back to find the right road, and had to embrace what he'd become.  Toomes never felt like he was just written as a bad guy, or existed so Spidey would have someone to fight.  He felt real.

Zemo, or whatever his name was.  He wasn't convincing, his motivations were transparent and dull... the character felt like a plot device, not a character.  Hollow and obvious.

Karen Gillan.  She stole every scene, and showed fantastic range and versatility.  Her character's journey from villain to hero was one of the best parts of the entire anthology of films, and I honestly don't think anyone else could've pulled it off as perfectly as she did.

 

Runner-up would be Scarlett Johannson.  That woman is astounding.  I don't think there's any role she can't play.  I've been watching her films since Ghost World and I haven't been disappointed once.  She's done an absolutely incredible job with the Black Widow character (who is among my favorites).  I'd rank her as my favorite, but Nebula's story across the MCU was just too deep and compelling to rate second place, and that pushes Karen Gillan to the top.

Chris Pratt.  He's got no range or versatility, at all.  Every line he delivers sounds like it was crowd-sourced from Imgur and Reddit, with an attempt to put his own "funny" spin on it.  He's riding his appearance and playing the same character in every movie (in and out of the MCU).

It's a toss-up between Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Black Panther and Captain Marvel.

 

The Winter Soldier was just so well done, it's one of my all-time favorite movies.  The direction was perfect, the acting was amazing, the plot and story were tight and engaging, and the film felt like it had weight, meaning.  It's not a great superhero film, it's a great film, period.  You could take all of the superhero elements out of it and it would still be a really good movie.  Intrigue, drama, comedic moments which don't overwhelm the tone of the film or come at the wrong moment, solid character development... it's got everything I enjoy in a film, plus Cap, Black Widow, The Falcon and Maria Hill kicking ass left and right.

Black Panther surprised me.  I expected a superhero film.  But it was so much more than that.  It was a film about integrity, family, responsibility, and it addressed racism without being accusational or morose.  There's more heart and honesty in any given scene in Black Panther than I've seen in any ten other films.  This is one of the movies I watch when I'm in a good mood, when I'm in a bad mood, when I'm bored or just can't find something else to watch.  I love it.

 

Captain Marvel... the story wasn't quite as tight as I like in a movie, but seeing Danvers transition into Captain Marvel... wow.  I felt like I was playing Co* for the first time again when I watched it.  It still leaves me breathless.  The sheer power of the character, the way it's portrayed, I've never seen anything more astounding in a superhero film.  The performances were almost all fantastic, too.  I thought Larson could've put a little more work into her emoting, but I'm not going to dislike a film for that.  And I'm aware that there's been some controversy over Larson, but I'm also capable of distinguishing between that and the movie.  The movie earned a spot on my favorites list.

 

I just can't say that any one of these is better than the others.  I like all three of them equally, for different reasons.

Neither of the Hulk films were particularly good.  They each have their merits, but overall, they were missing something.  Thor wasn't as good as it could've been, either.  He isn't even Thor until the end, so it was mostly comedy, rather than a superhero film.  Iron Man 3 doesn't have the same feel as the other two, which puts me off a bit.  But I'm going to have to say that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was probably my least favorite.  Other than Karen Gillan's performance as Nebula, there wasn't anything memorable or noteworthy about it.  That's frustrating, because I adore Kurt Russell, I've been impressed by Dave Bautista in his other works, and Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn really threw themselves into their performances.  The film didn't shine, though.  The story was weak and the action was too comedic to take seriously.  The comedy itself was mistimed and overused.  I know they're supposed to be the class clowns of the MCU, but most of it wasn't amusing to me.  When the most interesting part of a movie is an almost mute CGI twig, that's not a good thing.

 

A very, very, VERY close second would be Thor 3.  It was just too goofy, and I really disliked the way the writers threw everything out the door when they made that script.  Thor breathing and talking in space?  Asgardians being gods, instead of extremely long-lived people with high-tech gadgets?  A boozy Valkyrie?  My face still has bruises from all of the face-palming that movie caused.  It all but ruined the entire Thor franchise for me, and the character in the subsequent films.  But as a Hulk film, it wasn't bad.  Still goofy, but better than the previous Hulk films.
