Damn, so that's at least 2-2.5 billion inf right there, assuming you just sell the packs! I did that with like, 20 packs. Bought them for 10M, sold for 22.5M, decent profit. Wish I'd bought more!

But that... that's the opposite of what everyone else seems to want =/ Also, you'd probably have to adjust every AoE in the game to not target 16 critters anymore. I agree that herding whole maps was redonkulously broken and that going back to that would be bad, but since the most targets that most powers can hit is 16 anyway, (excluding Incarnate AoEs), why NOT let tanks pull like, I dunno, 24 dudes at a time? It's not like their tag-along blaster is gonna hit them all anyway.

Which Conroller Powers Would You Re-Arrange?
EmperorSteele replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Controller
It's not something I would do, but I know that on the coxg server, they did something like move all the level 32 pet powers to level 1. Almost made me want to go and take a look. -
That's ridiculous. YOU'RE ridiculous! NOTHING MAKES SENSE! But for reals, that's crazy awesome! Congratulations!

It's pretty neat! I was playing with it on test. It copies your current costume and spawns three copies. Fun little tidbit: If you change costumes in the middle of the summoning animation, any Decoys spawned after will take on your new appearance! If you switch from one costume without the copies to one that does, instead you get normal phantoms, but they're all the same body and colors as your 2nd costume. I tried my best to break it and get 3 different looking decoys, but to no avail.

Phantom Army Mirror costumes
EmperorSteele replied to darkgob's topic in [Open Beta] Bug Report Archive
The decoys, even without FX, still have some transparency to them. They're only like 90-95% opaque, i think, which explains the presence of the transparency on decals bug showing up on them =/ -
Procc'ed out Weaken Resolve is pretty good, but, just one thing: Make sure it actually takes Cloud Senses in-game. The in-game description says it takes to-hit debuff, but not Accurate To Hit debuff, and I don't think I was actually able to slot it. Maybe they fixed it so that it would, but for right now, don't hang your hat on that until you've actually confirmed it!

So I downloaded the latest patch and went to play (definitely want to check out the Illusion changes, omigod!), but then my Antivirus (AVG) did something I've never seen before. It stopped the program (beta.exe) from loading, and popped-up a notification that it was performing a "safety check". This took about 15 seconds, where upon it cleared shut the program down, and automatically restarted it. So while it was ultimately green-lit, I'm not sure what triggered the AV to be all like "hol' up". I don't know if the antivirus now responds to programs being updated, or if some new line of code in the Beta.exe tripped up it's heuristics scan, or what. In either case, I thought that was something worth reporting. Off to test!

Oedipus nailed it on the head. Mes IS pretty lackluster most of the time, but it's a literal life saver against multiple Bosses/AVs. Still, it's not like we DON'T have 3 builds per character, so I can always proc-monster/mad-king through most of a story arc or TF and then switch builds before a particularly AV-filled mission (lookin' at you, MLTF!), so I'm not super concerned about it's omission!

Okay, yeah... I like what I'm seeing there! Mids seems to think Terrify takes Cloud Senses though, but in-game it doesn't. I'll put the -res proc in it's place! I had wondered if the +recharge proc was worth using in lieu of bonuses. My only real concern was that it's a chance to proc on certain powers instead of an always-on thing, but on 4 of my 6 attack powers, that probably won't be an issue! What IS an issue is that the Force of Will attacks do animate/activate very slowly. As long as they proc though, they should be worth it! Also, the Panacea unique: is that objectively better than the Preventative Medicine Absorb proc? Because the Panacea one would randomly give me like 75 hp, and not when I needed it, whereas the PM proc has saved my bacon a few times. However, I'm cognizant that there may be some bias at play, so I wanted to know your thoughts. The only thing I'd probably object to is the removal of Mesmerize, but that's more of a principle thing than anything build related. I said I needed out of the box thinking here, so this may be a pill I have to swallow! Thanks again for the suggestions, looks like I'll be doing more build testing tomorrow! Amusing anecdote, I was trying a build based on what Tex and Red were saying, taking out +2/+3 Ritki in the Warzone, and I gotta say, it was doing pretty good... until a Drop Ship came out of nowhere and punk'd me XD

+ 3 Elite Boss. Didn't try on an AV, but it's probably there, too!
-
Probably based on how good they look? Glowey bits, baked in textures, bumpmapping... jeez, even wings would be verboten! Maybe have "OG" costume pieces be optional!
-
This is how I normally do things, anyway! The main reason I wanted Force of Will was for the def/res debuff, an extra AoE attack, and a lotg mule (plus flight without Afterburner is SO SLOW in comparison now!). Siphon Speed, Inertial reduction and Mystic Flight don't cover ANY of these! One thing I kinda forgot about though was Temp powers (jet packs, rocket board, etc), so I totally could skip fly/afterburner and pick other powers instead (forgoing the lotg perhaps) and rely on Hover/Siphon Speed in combat. Tell me, because I honestly don't know, what's the benefit of Tactics (besides the build up proc) if I already have 95% hit chance, though?
-
What about pool and epic/ancillaries? No Force of Will or T5s of pools/epics? Do we disallow Presence because it was so heavily changed? What about costume pieces? Just curious on this sort of thing 😃
-
Most of what you suggested I already have on my main build (siphon power, speed boost, Mes as an attack - the only reason it's not here is because I wanted to fit the ATO set somewhere!), this is just a "how much can i abuse procs" build. I'll definitely take the gamble of proccing out Terrify or my epic AoE, but I really wanted to make sure I had enough recharge and damage without having to break up my attack chain to continually buff. I don't know the math, but my experience playing this combo makes me feel like I'd be doing less damage over time if i'm constantly ceasing my attack chain to cast Siphon Speed and Siphon Power (especially versus hard targets with lots of regen). But, hopefully the procs (which are not affected by +dam buffs, iirc) would make up for that? Still, only one way to find out! I'll jump on test and try some of these out!

Haha, yeah, that doesn't sound like it has positional options! I just wanted to make sure. I've mained a Mind/Kin since live and was doing this badge the hard way until it dawned on me that both those powersets have repositioning tools! Not great ones, but better than nothing! Good luck!
-
In the build i posted, i already skipped TK and half the Kin powers to make room for the Force of Will set, as well as Hover/Fly/Afterburner. The 3 powers I'd want from the energy pool have prereqs, meaning I'd have to take power blast or conserve power. As it stands, I dropped Afterburner and put an extra slot in Transfusion, and slotted up the Pacnea set (i think?) which gave me back the +7.5% recharge I lost from dropping AB. I don't have mids in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure I'm not fitting in tactics anywhere!

Excelsior Badge Leaderboard (no longer maintained)
EmperorSteele replied to Sister Corruption's topic in Excelsior
Thank you, Miss 1337! -
You're right, which is why I've had a tough time deciding what sets to put where. Mind really works best with a secondary that has some control options in it, like Rad or Time, but, I was stubborn about recreating my main from Live as she was =P Anyway, Terrorize -> Psinado -> Wall of Force is pretty decent, but it takes forever to activate and animate. They're all over 2 seconds each, and then psinado is a DoT on top of it, though minions are usually dead before I even cast the third AoE, just leaving LTs and bosses. Energy Torrent or Fireball would be better, as they're 1 second and do all their damage up front (well, fireball has a minor DoT, but that's added after the main blast). And I guess I could live without Indomitable Will, especially since I only think to click it AFTER I've been mezzed >_> The only problem I'm seeing is that I'd like to take Temp invuln/Energy Torrent /Power Boost, but... it looks like I have to take Power Blast or Conserve Power first. Which means I'd have to drop another power just to get the three I want, which is probably going to be an lotg mule. I'll play around with it and see if the powerboost and quicker attack outweigh the recharge bonus. Though since I have a few slots to play around with, I can probably find some recharge bonus somewhere and make up for it that way!
-
What's your AT and Pri/Sec? There may be positional powers you can use to push them around? Also, at level 50, you have access to 3 builds. If you're not using them, start a 2nd build up and spec into the Presence pool so you can Provoke them, or the teleport pool so you can just TP them one at a time. Since these guys are half your level you don't have to worry much about enhancements, maybe just recharge so you can spam it. A power to keep them in place while you kill them might be useful, too.

Okay, so I've been trying to put together a Proc build for my Mind/Kin, and, while there are some benefits to this combo, it became clear why Sir Myshkin didn't go into too much detail with either set. Neither set is very "proc hungry". Dominate and Total Domination are the powers that got the most proc-love, and I wound up skipping nearly half of the Kinetics secondary except for Transfusion, Siphon Speed, Transference and Fulcrum Shift. I used the rest of the powers as glorified set and lotg mules; Mind Control takes several purple sets: Ranged damage, Targeted AoE damage, Sleep, Hold, Confuse, and of course the ATO sets. The trick was trying to figure out how to get perma-hasten so that my main AoE weapon, Total Dom, wouldn't take forever and a day to recharge when loaded with procs. But, I got it (barely), with Perma IW aaalllllmost there! I made some slotting choices I wouldn't normally (I put the ATO in Mesmerize, which I usually slot as a damage power), but after applying some out-of-the-box thinking, I got it to work! As an aside, I also eschewed using the confuse powers as damage powers, even though they could feasibly fit several damage procs each. The reason for this choice was two-fold: One, I needed the set bonuses from the Confuse sets intact; and two, the confuse powers in Mind do not notify foes by default, and damage procs throw that right out the window. Also, I have enough damage powers to keep me busy, I don't need to be tempted to toss out my confuse powers for no reason! This build is an "all purpose" build. I put that in quotes because it's not optimal for teaming (no SB, sorry!), but I wasn't laser-focused on beating up a pylon with it, either. I was looking for something that could help take down groups as well as hard targets, without making the build sacrifices needed to ensure survivability against a pylon. That said, it has about 20% ranged defense with everything active, and a smattering of extra resistance and health, so it's not a complete wimp (my first attempt at a proc monster was VERY squishy!). It has the damage to take down a +2 AV at a decent speed, but I'll admit that was in AE with invincibility turned on; it would be a different story if I had to heal myself every 6 seconds! There's a few things that could be changed. I could put a damage proc in Siphon Speed, but half the time I use it on sleeping foes and then they wake up mad. Similar story with Weaken Resolve, which I semi-reluctantly decided to keep as a pure debuff power, despite the extra damage I could get out of it with a few damage procs. If I decide to do a Pylon run, I'd have to make the build more survivable and single-target focused, but for now this is what I'm going for, unless anyone has any good ideas as to what else I could do with it!

Roleki: Containment works (or should work) on just about any Controller power that does damage. Secondary, Pool, Epic, whatever. Temp/accolade/prestige powers do NOT get containment, because containment isn't baked into those powers.

Indomitable Will is a Magnitude-based mez protection power. AM is Mez Duration Resistance. So basically, AM will shorten the amount of time you are mezzed, where IW will stop most mez effects from applying in the first place, unless they get stacked or the magnitude is above 10. Also note that even if you get IW and Hasten perma, you'll still need to manually reactivate at least one of those powers, as you can only autofire one at a time. However, this isn't too huge of an issue. I just pop it when I'm about to face something that I know has a hold or sleep power, or deals mostly psionic damage. I don't have anything to say about Mace Mastery, as I've never tried it. My advice would be to hit up Pineapple (the test server), use the cheat code to get yourself to 50, and try both builds. Slot them up (everything is free on Test), do a mission, and see what feels right. If they both seem equally awesome... well, you have 3 builds on a character at level 50, and purples aren't as insanely expensive as on Live, so I think having both would be feasable!

Ah! Fair enough, I didn't realize that the answer would be different for various ATs and builds (I figured the universal law was pretty much "get global recharge, use procs, 'nuff said"), But I'll see what the others on the Controller subforum think!
