  1. Actually something I was thinking. Should buffs be subject to the same level modifiers / penalties that debuffs are. For example -ToHit debuffs kinda get hit by a double whammy Vs higher diff mobs (reduced efficiency and the enemy has increased acc) where a +Def self buff just has to worry about 1 adverse modifier (higher acc). Of course Vs AVs I wouldn't be looking at reducing buffs by 85%. That'd be mean. Honestly I think the horse has long bolted on this anyway and a change like that would be too disruptive anyway but was just a random thought I had.
  2. For Def and Resist, until you hit caps, the opposite is true. The closer you are to your cap the more useful each % becomes. If Mr Scrapper is sitting at 50% resist to something and I come along with 25% I've allowed them to take twice the damage they normally could. If they had 0 it's just 25% extra survivability. This is even better for ATs with higher caps like Tanks and Brutes. Similarly if I'm on 35% def and someone gives me just 10% more on average I'll be hit just 1/3 as often. Of course once you hit a cap the excess becomes less important but even then the buffer is useful for soaking up debuffs. This is useful for sets with no DDR.
  3. Freezing Rain : Keep the Achilles (cos more resist is a good thing). Drop the rest and slot with 2 +5 Recharge IOs and job done. Hurricane is terrible for procs. The Repel will still happen and since its a toggle it works as Jojo says (check once every 10 seconds). Pull the FF and stick it into Gale. I just slot Hurricane with 4 Dark Watchers for the bonus. Just because Tornado & LS can take procs doesn't mean you should skip slotting for damage. Especially for Tornado since it's essentially a pet with a toggle (back to the "once every 10 seconds" checks). My preferences for them is this : I do like the KB2KD in Lightning Storm just so it doesn't blast things out of its own range. So KB2KD for both, FF for both since it'll proc 90% of the time you drop either of these and then a nice set for some bonuses. I've also fallen in love with the "Chance for Knockdown" from Avalanche in my nuke. 5 Superior Avalanche including the proc for the +5% melee defense and one Purple Proc. Mmmmm. Also Oppressive Gloom is poopy. Spend health to stun minions? Nope. Storm is incredibly End intensive so Dark Consumption would be a better choice.
  4. I'd always recolour too. Mostly to reduce the impact. Takes some trial and error sometimes because you can colour individual powers in the editor but you don't see the impact of 3 shields running til you're back in-game. Ice shields can be really ugly for example so I spent ages recolouring them on my Ice scrapper til they were where I wanted them. Burn too is a power which needs recolouring or it's "I can't see a frigging thing".
  5. Personally I think DA is trying too hard. EVERYTHING is dark and edgy. The sewers run with blood (cos of course they do). Even warehouses are full of mist and darkness. Mot is way too much of an Edgelord (except for that Mario bit where they eat people, that always makes me laugh). I mean I know your an ancient god of death etc etc but do you have to be all Blood! Spines! Flesh! about it?
  6. As Doom say. But with regards to Sonic if you want to be more team support orientated make sure you take the single target stun. It is quicker animating than some of the blasts. The -res also lasts 12 rather than 6 seconds (most other sonic attacks are 6 second). Useful on av fights. Howl is useful as a cone aoe -resist. Nuke is also good for that as a pbaoe (lasts 20 seconds) and stuns things. Kind of a natural follow up to a good Fulc. Finally on some teams you might get away with Sirens to sleep them all, then Fulc. Fulc won't wake things up. I'd consider this more useful solo or on small teams.
  7. Howling Twilight. Sounds like you've just rewritten reality when it fires off. Geyser from Water Blast : aka I just made the Earth itself explode underneath you. Those without Crunch : Most of the melee holds like Frozen Touch. Totally understated yet the enemy is dead in seconds. The Warshade version is the same : "I'm gently reaching out to you... [dead]". Only one which matches the effect is Seismic Smash.
  8. Mine is in my sig. I mostly went for Ranged def too, but also went Ice epic for the S/L Armour and Hoarfrost. No Winters or Purple sets (a few Purple procs where appropriate, Waters weakness is meh single target damage). I didn't go further down the "purple and Winters" route because Too Many Alts. Hovering with Hoarfrost + capped ranged + a decent chunk of s/l + your Absorb shield + a self-heal blast makes you quite sustainably tough.
  9. Did you take pool powers ahead of your Shields for your pets? That'd explain a bit. Youve gone down the pool power route quite early and quite aggressively slotted them. Normally I wouldn't be slotting pool powers (other than stamina as required) til the 30s.
  10. I bit the bullet and rolled the Def version on my alt account and powerlevelled him to 30. Haven't actually played him yet though. I bet I'll be playing him thinking "I miss scourge"
  11. Here's my Fire/Nature. Debated for ages whether I wanted to be Corruptor or Defender. Went Corruptor and mid-20s now, but still doubting myself.
  12. There's one very good reason not to go Zapp / Ball Lightning. Staff doesn't have a no-redraw option and it drove me nuts on a Staff/NRG Brute. It's one reason I went Invul here too, not too many clickies. This is my latest char. At the moment I've two builds. One without Winters, one follow-on with. The "cheap" build The Winters / Purple procs version (no purple sets)
  13. Mine is in my sig, it's way less tricked out than this (because I don't do Purpled out builds, too many alts for that). Big thing that jumps out, slot Carrion with procs rather than Roots. They won't proc much in Roots that much anyway (and it'll hammer your End Bar). Edit : Same for Freezing Rain. Because it's a patch it's not really Proc friendly. Creepers on the other hand are because it's really an invisible pet which summons baby pets (tentacles etc) which attack normally.
  14. Should be doable. I've my DP/Kin capped to melee and at 40% ranged, leaving me being able to take Soul Mastery for the Soul Drain and the Resist shield. That's with 1 set of Winters and no purple sets (not that Purples give much Def). I did have to take & 6 slot Cross Punch to manage it though. You can easily replace the Winters for another Obliteration set instead. It's in my Signature. Should transfer to Psi or Water pretty handily. It was very heavily based on Frostweavers build (which is somewhere in these forums) with Repel switched out for ID. Repel is neat but too darn noisy for me and for teams.
  15. On live I had a Kin/Elec. I remember in a Hollows team someone was like "why is our healer in beside the tank". The Tank said "He's a Kin/Elec. He's my buddy for the mosh pit". I liked that Tank 😀
  16. This, although I did it twice because the first time I went pure ranged and thought "maybe that was my issue" Endurance is a nightmare on both, chasing / monitoring Domination is a pain and in building having to chase recharge so much railroads your build. Plus they have poor AoE and the Assault tier 9s are underwhelming (with Martials blowing all the way through underwhelming to land in a bit crap).
  17. Give Defenders Assault sets. I want a Nature/Savage defender.
  18. Thermodynamic Flux (yes I was amazed it wasn't too long too) : Ice / Fire Blaster Barbed DeQue : My Fire/Claws Tank, aka "What happens when Crey take over a Battery Chicken farm"? Answer : The Flaming Chicken of Justice I spent ages trying to think of a costume / theme for a Fire/Nature corruptor which wasn't just "Planty thing". So I went for Croatoa / Irish Mythology (and a name I had on live). Wanted to get a kind of risen king / spirit of the woods vibe Crom Cruaich : And finally this week, a Mids build for a Staff/Inv stalker needed a theme and a name. I was sitting working away this week when it hit me. An animated novelty garden ornament. Lawn Ornament : Staff/Inv Stalker.
  19. I'd stick with Scrapper too. Combo will work really nicely. That gives you more alting options too when it comes to TFs or PuGs. Plus it's nice to be the "Im just here to kill things" guy if you aren't in the aggro control / protect the squishies mood.
  20. I'd say most of my builds are 150 to 250. But I don't use many purples (just a couple of procs, maybe with 1 other) and, up until this Winter event, 0 winters. I've never gone "5 purples" on any char. So most of the expense is ATOs, LotGs and two PvP IOs. Even Catalysts are from drops. I did Winter up my last char, a Fire/Claws Tank. But I'd bought a bunch of cheap packs and Winters IOs (got a bunch for 4.5 million which was nice). Still have a decent stash of them. Of course I don't kit out my 50s either. I kit as I go which spreads out costs. (And makes it more interesting for me, to the point that I usually don't bother with more than one lot of Double XP).
  21. Pretty much this. The upfront fee is best thought of as a "keep you honest" sellers tax. I can't think of a good reason why we don't move the entire 10% up front really, 5 and 5 doesn't make too much sense nowadays.
  22. I voted Shield because it's the only one I have. Great fun but Endurance management can be irksome. I did do a Mids build for a Staff/Inv and the numbers were very silly. EA is very easy to build for defense to silly levels too and has nice End management tools and a self heal (eventually).
  23. AFAIK people tested this specifically for the joy of watching Singy have babies and it looked like Pets can't spawn the Orbs. It never triggers. A full set of Expedients for the Recharge and Ranged Def, or 4 Expedients with two slots to play with (you lose the Ranged Def bonus). One option is the Sudden Impact KB2KD a la Repel to turn him into a mobile knockdown patch. HAS to be the Sudden Impact though, the Universal Damage one won't work with his Repel. Will of the Controller PROC should work with its controls but I haven't tested it. In fact you could slot 6 of those, but that'll nerf its non-proc damage. And since WotC has good bonuses all the way up you probably don't want to split it. I kept 6 WotC in my hold and 6 Expedients in Singy for max Ranged Def and Recharge bonuses. 6 Expedients also means the Resist aura which works well with Singy.
  24. I just want to run a Nature/Savage Assault Defender.
  25. Time Juncture isn't that good that you want to be close all the time. Think of it more like "if something gets close to me/us it's boned". I think you're way overslotted for aoe defense, especially given your typed defenses. And I say that running a DP/Kin with about 22% aoe defense and thriving in tough content.
