Suggestion: Reduction in complexity for the Invention system.
biostem replied to ZaranBlack's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Maybe they could do something like with inspiration combining - 3 salvage of the same type can be combined into 1 of the same tier... -
Coup de grace vs held/knocked down underlings, minions, and LTs

Does containment do what I suggested in the OP? -

Here's the great thing about the proposed ability - you wouldn't have to use it if you didn't want to. -
Coup de grace vs held/knocked down underlings, minions, and LTs

Yeah... imagine if NPCs had some sort of special anti-mez effect... perhaps represented by purple triangles or such... oh wait! NPCs can already do a multitude of things that player characters cannot. There is absolutely no reason, nor is there any precedent, for NPCs gaining player abilities in a tit-for-tat manner... -
I really like dark assault - I feel it adds a bit more self-sufficiency that other assault sets lack. I don't really have any high-level experience with plants, so I can't comment on that. While I like illusion, I feel like dominators lack some necessary tools to really take advantage of PA like controllers can, (barring maybe sonic assault). While savage assault does offer some nice +recharge and -end cost, the set just doesn't "gel" for me like the full-fledged savage melee one does. Fire control definitely has some great tools at its disposal, (especially if you put a kb->kd IO in bonfire), and I think dark assault can complement it nicely.

It irks me when I see the winner of a C.C. is using like 90% the same costume set, or if they're undead...

Suggestion: Reduction in complexity for the Invention system.

Maybe they could add a university or general invention contact/tutorial person to the Vanguard base in the RWZ, since it acts as a hub for many people as well, and is cross-faction. Have said contact call out to you like the intelligence officers do as well... -
Something like "traps control" or a more tech-oriented control set could work. I think it shouldn't be all grenades. A "control arrow" or "archery control" set would fit thematically with trick arrow. Maybe we could get an archery-centric assault set for dominators as well.

So i have altitis with Sents and I want to fix it, please help!
biostem replied to SwankyBuld's topic in Sentinel
I really like my dual pistols/radiation armor sentinel - you get a lot of versatility through swap ammo, and radiation armor provides a whole host of tools to keep you on your feet and fighting. I tend to stay in cryo ammo for the extra range, but incendiary, chem, and standard ammo have their own uses, too. particle shielding is your mainstay power and the extra +recharge from particle acceleration is really nice. Ground zero is a decent PBAoE to complement your other attacks, but also heals allies and can debuff the enemies it hits. It's just an all-around great combo, IMHO! -
One of my more recent characters is an earth control/pain controller. The idea is that she can generate various compounds to harm her enemies and aid her allies. Her name: "Ana L'Gesia"

Need help making leveling more comfortable, Water/Poison
biostem replied to Crunchyllama's topic in Corruptor
What I generally do is to run some AE content, use the tickets you earn to buy common invention crafting components, then craft generic level 25 IOs. Start with some end mods in stamina and put some end redux in your attacks or other frequently used powers. Also make sure to slot some acc so you're not missing, and dmg, where applicable, so you're defeating the enemies more quickly. If you have any higher level alts, (particularly with reward merits), I'd grab a panacea chance for +end/+hp unique, a miracle, and perhaps a performance shifter. -
It's not intended for you to always be fully kitted-out with the latest and greatest enhancements. Especially early on, you need to prioritize what enhancements you buy, if you even buy any at all. In general, I recommend trying to manage with just the drops you get from defeating enemies, then around level 22, start crafting and slotting level 25 generic IOs - those will never expire, and will be good enough to get you to 50, at which point the inf will come flooding in, and you can work on a 2nd build or start replacing those 25 IOs with better ones...

I think a lot of it has to do with that you can get by just fine w/o using it, and it's neither as "sexy" as domination nor is it automatic like a scrapper or stalker's crits. While I do like the changes, having vulnerability divorced from your 1st 2 attacks means you won't trigger them just by attacking, and so you need to intentionally trigger the power...

OK, so if you look at the table for the Knives of Vengeance, they can get some combination of a Tempest, Assassin, or a Guardian. You can then go to the Wiki page for that group, and simply do a search for the particular units/members to see what they look like. The Talons of Vengeance can get a Harpy, Diviner, or Siren, and here is the page for that group. Just search for any of the units I mentioned to see what those look like. EDIT: I looking at the respective factions' pages, I now see that not every unit type has an image, but at least it gives you a general idea of what the group looks like...

So my girlfriend wants to roll up a Mass Effect inspired character...
biostem replied to lokiie1984's topic in Archetypes
Hmm... maybe a gravity control/energy assault dominator. A dual pistols or beam rifle + force field corruptor could work too. -
Here is a good starting point. If the header links for a particular group are red, then search the wiki for that villain group to see a reference image of the enemy for that given lore slot tier/ability.

The issue isn't the suggestion, per se - it's that animations are some of the most complex, time-consuming aspects of the game. My first reflex is to say "just use existing animations from other powers", but then you run into timing issues and other such side effects of trying to repurpose other animations. As a general concept - yes, more options would be great!

Suggestion: Reduction in complexity for the Invention system.
biostem replied to ZaranBlack's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I dunno... I prefer being able to zero-in on exactly what I want, then simply get the recipe & mats to craft it. I don't want to play a hierarchy game of needing X commons for 1 uncommon, Y of those for a rare, and so on. It's one, (among many reasons), why I never bothered with Champion's crafting system, (especially since there's a fail chance there as well)... -
Hmm... does that trump GM/Ban hammer? :-P
