  1. There number of games that are appealing and/or fitting for eSports is vanishingly small, and they generally need to be fairly big or well known beforehand. Blizzard was already a giant in the video game industry before eSports even caught on, so it's kind of a chicken-and-egg scenario. Does the question of "is this game going to be streamed a lot" really enter into a developer's mind when they're deciding what (type of) game to create? IMHO, it's more like "is this a FPS, a 3rdPS, an RPG, an RTS or Diablo-clone?" With regards to "Dark Souls" type games, I see it more as a response to requests by gaming media or other such folks for "journalist modes" where the game basically plays itself, so they can report on the game without having to put in the time to learn it or be good at it in general...
  2. Hmm... in checking the Wiki, it seems that body mastery, which, IMO is the equivalent of your proposed "Super Strength Mastery" for melee ATs, was recently renamed to "Energy Mastery". I think Body Mastery was better, as it implied, well, a higher level of refinement and development of, well, one's own physical abilities, (which could also encompass martial arts, street justice, and so on). For non-melee ATs, providing some less flashy/more internally developmental growth for the character, would certainly be a nice addition!
  3. I highly doubt that most games were made harder for "pro-gaming". More likely, you have particular likes or dislikes that either differ from how things have shifted over time, (totally valid, IMHO), or you simply prefer older game design philosophies, (again, not necessarily a bad thing). Similarly, I am extremely doubtful that *anyone* plays "most games" to begin with.
  4. While I can't speak to the devs' intentions behind the changes, I have to imagine that this is precisely why they were made tougher...
  5. I wonder if they could add 5th Column into the rotation, yet have them retain the old mob types & abilities, (obviously this would only work for things like radio missions). Alternatively, maybe have the new mobs *only* appear on +4 difficulty or something...
  6. Funny, because I tend to have more trouble with Arachnos, especially if I'm not playing a character with any +perception abilities. Regardless, I do not PL my chars to 50, and frequently take part in sub-50 content. In fact, given my altitis, I actually don't have that many level 50 characters, but when I do join a higher level team, I try to work with the team and adapt to whatever the game throws at us, including the revamped Council.
  7. The only things I dislike about the Council revamp are the self-rezzers and how it seems to sometimes produce groups that are all galaxy troops. If you were used to ROFL-stomping Council and can't now, then maybe you need to revisit your build or tactics...
  8. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
  9. After messing with some AI sites, one thing that annoys me is when said AI takes "liberties" with the source image you provide; Is there a way to get them to basically stay true to the source image, and only enhance it? I mean, while CoH images aren't "next gen", they're still pretty clear as to what they're supposed to be...
  10. I've had good results with an ice/ice blaster. If you want something that plays a bit differently, try something like a fire/earth blaster. If you don't like to close to melee range, an archery/tactical arrow or dual pistols/devices blaster are also very good, (though the DP T9 is PBAoE).
  11. The question is, would this set consist of your character just launching objects of different sizes at enemies, or are you looking more for the "throw around enemies" type of telekinesis?
  12. If Trick or Treat werewolves can throw coffins, then having propel launch other objects should be possible. That being said, making it dependent on the particular zone or map you're in might be too much to ask. Perhaps a better option would be to simply use a different, albeit pre-set, selection of objects - like maybe random environmental objects that could be found around dark astoria or the shadow shard...
  13. Darth Jar Jar officially confirmed!
  14. I think this or SoA's are your best bet.
  15. Describe to me the ways in which a league leader can "make sure everyone *is* working towards the goal". Does it involve threats of being kicked and banning from future raids? Maybe by maintaining some sort of "blacklist"? Oooh! Maybe people could then share out that list! Who cares if someone was put on there justifiably or not... The "clique thing" is more about who decides who can join or not - it need not be every single league member. It is a difference of scale; What's easier to organize, 2-8 people or 48? It is also a difference of precedent - were TFs ever open for randos to just run without being on a team? Does team or task force content require a league to accomplish?
  16. And you want to be able to force other players to submit to the whims or demands of raid and incarnate trial leaders or miss out on said content. Heck, the content could be like 99% complete, and said leaders could simply boot people to deny them the rewards.
  17. Way to not address the points I brought up.
  18. I get that, and that's great. Here's my contention; If you are going to exempt "solo players" because they don't want to join the league, then at the same time, you need some sort of guarantee and/or method of redress, for players that are not invited or kicked for anything outside of glaring and obvious griefing or breaches of the ToS. The last thing we need is to implement additional ways for players "in the clique" to ban or otherwise exclude those who aren't...
  19. Playing devil's advocate here, but what makes it "their raid"? Does being the leader of a league entitle you to dictate what every other person in a public zone can or cannot do? Add the instanced version and let only those in the league enter it, but please do not pretend that any specific subset of people can control a zone just by virtue of having the star next to their name.
  20. I have no doubt that people doing things apart from the league can be/is a hindrance to said league. The bigger question is whether said league has any right to or exclusive say over what goes on in that zone. I can certainly see a case for offering an instanced version of Hamidon. The only lingering concern I have is whether doing so could end up in some folks, who may get on the bad side of such event organizers, to essentially be blacklisted from being able to take part. At least in the current implementation, they can get a couple hits in and get something out of it. I'm not arguing whether such behavior is right or wrong, merely that adding an extra layer of exclusivity may not be a good thing...
  21. TBH, I don't find the problem to be the league leaders giving too many or not enough instructions, but people flooding the chat with in-jokes, puns, or other gibberish that should instead be thrown to broadcast or maybe private channels. To your point about it being "unintentional griefing", my only issue there is that, IMO, "griefing" requires an intentional/deliberate attempt to undermine or otherwise harass others - so if you're just in the zone to get a hit in and earn your merits or HO, but not intentionally and knowingly working against the league, then you aren't griefing. Was it ever outright stated that said league "owns" the event, anyway? Of course, the ability to restrict who can or cannot participate may be the real reason this is being requested...
  22. OP, it sounds like people standing near super stunners, (or w/e they're called), when they die is the least of your worries on that TF. Frankly, that's just extra XP for any normal team...
  23. That's the rub, isn't it; Is there a "license" to be a force-user in the Republic? If private people can own starships or even space stations, is it legal for a non-aligned force user to openly operate?
  24. You do get increased range with psychic blast - perhaps that's the tradeoff?
  25. What needs expanding upon is a) what happens if parents decline/refuse to give up their child, and b) what happens, (or rather, what would the Jedi Order do), should a non-Jedi/non-Sith force user emerge somewhere and choose to operate independently.
