I’m not saying anything beyond the fact that some people view the defense and LotG’s as far too critical to ever try anything else. I’m not saying that you’re a bad player if you insist on building that way every time. You’re only a bad player if you do so specifically because you don’t think you can survive without them. Best example by far of travel as an in combat asset is obviously the fact that Fly/Mystic Flight are the best melee defense powers in the game. After that the differences are far more incremental. Like quicker and easier kiting/dodging/escaping. Or like the fact that you can save a few seconds gathering mobs by jaunting between them rather than running between them. Every second you don’t spend in between fights is a boost to your character’s DPS and clear times.
-
They either do take them and use them already or the only reason they don’t is the squeeze to fit defense and LotG’s. Most people make do with SS/CJ for that latter reason alone. And you can stop mentioning PvP. You can Jaunt about in PvE too if you’re a good enough player to forego Fighting or Leadership once in awhile. The only reason travel powers are not used more as combat assets is because players are uncomfortable surviving without Weave and Maneuvers. That does not mean they are not assets in combat.
-
Travel powers are powerful assets in combat. No vote to decoupling those from the rest.
-
I’d be ok with them testing that (one more pool at cost of APP/PPP).
-
It was just an example of a power in a pool.
-
If you insist on picking up Hasten on every build, and: - in one universe, that costs you a power slot and a couple of enhancement slots, and, - meanwhile, in another universe, that costs you a power slot, a couple of enhancement slots, AND the opportunity to pick another pool, the latter set of challenges is objectively greater. You are confusing number of options with cost, and cost is what yields the challenge.
-
Fewer choices = higher cost / tradeoff per choice = more challenging building. So disagree.

Easy now, this thread is not the place to be telling us what a pleasant person you are

Well, I can assure you it’s pretty great on the new Singularity. I have a Grav/Sonic Sorcerer specifically for abusing 4 ally toggles working with the AoE pull effect.
-
Good AoE damage. Very good DPA too if you think about it.

Sorcery Pool Updates in Issue 27, Page 2
arcane replied to Captain Powerhouse's topic in Developer's Corner
Yeah I was planning on that - I’m more wondering what else could come of it. Like how Arcane Bolt is suddenly a pretty good attack. I even have a couple characters that dug into Sorcery but didn’t take Rune because all 5 powers are good for something now. -
Sorcery Pool Updates in Issue 27, Page 2
arcane replied to Captain Powerhouse's topic in Developer's Corner
I just want to say that I seem to have a ton of characters with Sorcery now so the changes must be pretty damn good 🙂 It seems to be firmly up there now with Flight and Concealment as the best alternatives to the SS/SJ/Fight/Leader meta. Any word on revamps of the other origin pools? Experimentation is already pretty damn good but can’t wait to see what you guys do. -
Energy Blast is still your best bet. I would do Storm instead of Force Field though. That or make a Kheldian if you want knockback masochism.
-
A lot of people have zero tolerance for difficult choices and completely overlook the fact that trade-offs and challenges are a very large part of how games are made interesting in general.

I slot 2 Annihilations, 2 Positron’s Blast, 1 Bombardment, 1 Javelin Volley. That’s 2 Acc/Dam/End, 4 Procs.
-
My resistance to it is strictly that, IMO, the thought that Ice Blast of all sets should get more single target DPA is completely ridiculous.

issue 27 Patch Notes for June 2nd, 2021

Well someone’s backpedaling 😉 -
Ok that’s pretty much what I thought. Verifying I’m not exactly screwing myself out of much if I put, say, Superior Avalanche or the ATO set (the one that doesn’t need to go in AS) there. Made an Electric/Ice Stalker yesterday and studying your threads. Stalker is one of my most neglected AT’s alongside Sentinel. Each AT currently accounts for only 2.6% of my level 50’s 😉
-
I notice you put Armageddon in Lightning Rod. I thought damage procs were pretty much useless there because the pseudopet functionality kept them from working? Have you actually seen that go off? Often? I once tried to proc bomb Spring Attack and it was a spectacular failure.
-
Rule #2 exists because it makes Rule #5 too much of a non-challenge, and Rule #5 is basically the most challenging part of this by far. It should probably extend to Stalkers though. Doesn’t need to extend to Controllers though because at least those have to be careful with break frees occasionally.

issue 27 Patch Notes for June 2nd, 2021

I will accept influence instead, personally. -
The sleep makes sense conceptually, but since it’s pretty much useless, why not just make it a higher damage power so the sleep component can just be ignored (the Frozen Aura treatment - which turned into a great power). Then lower the cast time for Shout. Those two steps would constitute a good incremental start, and we could reassess the set’s position from there.
-
Hard no. Ice is already top tier s/t damage without a snipe, so this would be overpowered. Would be down to consider adding a snipe to Sonic though.
