  1. Forty employees is about 30 employees too many for maintenance mode. Of course there's nothing stopping them laying of those 30 once the promised patches are in the game. I'm trying to be optimistic and take them at their word. I hope you're wrong, but I'll be surprised if you are.
  2. I've been watching this since it developed. Something like 40 developers have moved from Bioware to Broadsword. Which is supposed to be half of the dev team. They've claimed several times that development will continue and that the game is not going into maintenance mode. I guess we'll see though.
  3. I play Storm Blast to have fun blasting enemies with storm sowers. Not to be the fastest, or the bestest, or the most-damagest. And yes, I've mostly played Storm Blast on teams. We move as fast or as slow as we want and sometimes Storm Cell can't keep up and I just throw it out again, or not. I don't care if it takes me 1.87 seconds longer to defeat a group of enemies or not. For me, the purpose of playing this game is to have fun, not to engage is some kind of competitive event. It's been a lot of fun. If your complaint is that it doesn't do as much damage as Fire Blast then maybe go play Fire Blast?
  4. Als ich ein kind war, hat mein Opa mir gesagt "Deutsche Sprache, schöne Sprache, Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache."
  5. I like Motel Hell. It even talks about farmers.
  6. So the end result of this change is that it'll remove one of the last few reasons to ever play a villain character. Regardless of the intent, that's the effect it'll have. So I'm afraid that I'll just have to say:
  7. I've seen a lot of people claim, "We didn't ask for these changes." And yet, as Troo showed in the OP, in fact a lot of these changes were asked for. I could go down the list, but you can also do that for yourselves, and I'm not interested in doing your homework for you. Just as an example, in the plethora of anti-knockback threads, people showed that they have a tendency to think that what they, or they and a couple of friends they game with, like or dislike is representative of the entire player base. Something that was disproved by the knockback survey linked in one of those threads. Now, in the past, I got into a discussion with a specific developer here on the forums and I said, "No one in that thread wanted a combo system added to Energy Melee." In that case I was being very specific. I wasn't claiming that the entire player base felt the same way as me, I referred to a specific thread. Which, while not proof that the entire player base feels a certain way, was at least proof that some people felt a certain way. And I think that's the key. If you want to persuade the developers (or any rational adult really) to do or not do something you can't just scream emotional nonsense the way you do on Twitter. You have to explain your point of view, preferably with some numbers to back up your assertions.
  8. I really like this idea. Run the tutorial and get $50k. Skip it and finance yourself. Without having to do the tutorial I could foresee a situation where someone creates a bunch of characters in order to get a bunch of Inf. Sure, most of us wouldn't do it because there are far less annoying ways to make money much faster, but you know someone would.
  9. If you mostly solo you should play Brute or Scrapper. If you team some Brute or Tanker. If you team a lot, and want to play the role, then Tanker. Tankers just have far more survivability than is necessary for soloing and, because of their low damage output, soling with them can be slow and boring. Brutes have a mix of toughness and damage output that is great for soloers.
  10. Yes, I have seen that the developers are pretty good at responding to reasonable questions. In one of the recent Feedback threads I specifically asked, "Other than that, can I ask what the point of changing the power availability for the non-Epic & non-Arachnos ATs?" And both Captain Powerhouse and Faultline responded explaining their reasoning behind the changes. And I've seen them explain the reason behind other changes as well. But I really do think, and I'm sorry to keep harping on this, that having the reasoning explained in the OP of these threads will go a long way towards derailing unfounded criticism and speculation, as well as reduce the need to even ask those questions. And yes, there's always going to be people that will say "I understand the reason and I disagree anyway" and/or "I know what the devs said, but here's what I think the real reason is." So there's no reason for the DDL to respond to my post with a "Well, ackthually..." Yeah, I know. But refusing to give explanations simply because some people might ignore them just doesn't make any sense.
  11. You know the one that really bothers me? "You know what happens when you assume, don't you?" I absolutely hate it when people say that, double hate when they say it in that &$%((# up sneering voice, as if somehow that ancient word game is some kind of nugget of wisdom instead of the messed up line of utter stupidity that it really is.
  12. I was just about to post this very thing when I saw your post. I have two level 50 tanks that I love playing. Invuln/EM and Will/SS. I love playing the Will/SS because Super Strength is just hilarious fun and I really enjoy not having End issues. He's tough, but the moment enemies start piling on the debuffs he crumples. My main is Invuln for a reason. It's much tougher than Willpower, especially with the right IOs.
  13. I find it concerning that players get constantly attacked by other players on this forum anytime they post anything about the HC staff that isn't complete, undying praise. I understand that some of you completely worship the HC staff. That much is obvious by the way you attack any player who so much as asks a question about anything. But do you really have to keep attacking other players? And why do the mods continue to allow it? Well, I guess we'll never know.
  14. Yes, I know. You do realize that, in that post, I was not talking about the Homecoming forums, right? I was talking about video game forums in general over the past 20 years. Have the Homecoming forums been around for 20 years? You know, as a teenager I never liked it when older people, who had no idea what they were talking about, tried to correct me. Now, 40 years later, when I'm nearly 60, I like it even less. Well, I do hope that you got feel better now that you got your "mom fix." Peace.
  15. But how would I do that? In the OP you said that the travel powers would be removed from their respective pools. So how would I pick another travel power if it literally isn't in a power pool anymore?
  16. So I actually have more than 1 character that has both Fly and Super Speed. Using your new power pools how would I do that?
  17. Oh, ok. I understand now. So the developers recently changed the Travel Power Pools to make Afterburner et al. into these inherent/pop-up powers. Now you're proposing that they change them back into normal powers. I'm not sure why they would want to do that. What would be the point in doing this? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm basically just asking how would it improve the game?
  18. So you're talking about making the Travel Power Pools smaller, thus making it easier to get the "good" Tier 5 power, while making a (or the first) travel power an inherent? Assuming that I have correctly understood your suggestion, what is the goal of this change?
  19. Thank you for saying that. This is exactly the kind of info that players want to read. Not details. Not deadlines. Just "this is what we're working on, no idea how long it'll take." We know you guys are a small team and that: New Content = (Mountain Dew * Time)/Spaghetti Code.
  20. @Cobalt Arachne First of all, thank you very much for posting. Not just that you posted, but for what you posted and the great detail of information that you posted. I am not condoning uncivil behavior. However, I do believe that the last 20 years of posting on video game forums has conditioned people to be rude because we've been trained that that's what works. I've seen it many times on many forums for many games. Calm posts with precise mathematical models showing why the changes won't work get ignored. But after the changes go live, and the mods spend a week fighting a losing battle against the fires threatening to burn down the entire forums, the devs announce that they'll roll back, or lessen, the changes. None of this is your fault, nor the fault of the Homecoming team, of course. However, this is exactly why I think that a dev blog, or road map, or some kind of post regarding the devs' point of view on the game, on changes, on where they want to go with things, and on eventual goals would be very helpful for at least lessening the amount of forum flamage and vitriol. You mentioned that some feedback gets ignored because it doesn't challenge the specific reason behind the change. Ok, but many times we don't know the specific reason behind the change. If you want us to respond to the specific reason behind the change then that information is going to have to be spelled out in the OP of the feedback thread, it usually isn't. Anyway, I hope you don't think that I'm attacking you with this post. Nor am I angry in anyway. This is just my attempt at constructive feedback. If you've read my post to this point, thank you again.
  21. Too many missions. Too many repetitive missions. Unclear story. The fix would be to clean up and streamline the missions, and simplify the storylines. Even if only by having a bolded TL;DR at the botton of the NPC's wall of text. My suggestion: adding more variety to Scanner/Newspaper Missions.
  22. Thanks for that! 😄 And what you said about EA is exactly what I was saying, and what Billz was saying when he still posted on the forums. Which is that if EA's numbers are too good for a Tanker then they're too good on a Scrapper and Scrapper EA should be nerfed. But if EA's defense numbers are fine for a Scrapper then they'll be ok for a Tanker as well. Same thing with Super Strength. Either it's just fine, in which case port it, or it needs to be fixed and then ported.
  23. Ok, so Page 5 has dropped on the live servers. Sentinels have been buffed. Masterminds have been buffed, and Dominators got another powerset. So now I think it's time to mention that now would be a great time to port Energy Aura to Tankers!
  24. Ok, I haven't seen any suggestion about the Insta-50 button costing 100million INF, that's a different thing I suppose. As for name camping outside of people's heads, I've read posts on this forum where people have flat out said that they've got a bunch of name camping characters. There's an entire thread where people are trading the names that they've camped. And, when the devs revealed that they were testing a name reclamation system, the name campers lit the forums on fire for a couple of weeks. So please, don't waste people's time with your imaginary notion that people aren't name camping. It's a proven FACT.
