  1. To be fair, this is a problem primarily caused by new players not knowing the ludicrous difference in inf generated by playing as a level 50 character v. playing as a level 1. Honestly, I'm not sure why inf drops scale so dramatically. Perhaps the real solution to sticker shock is to change the rewards so that defeating a minion at 50 drops about the same inf as a minion at level 1, dividing everyone's existing inf by 1,000 (or whatever value is appropriate) and starting again.
  2. This isn't directed particularly at you, just this as a jumping off point: People need to remember that using the market does not make inf. Marketeering is fundamentally different from farming in that it actually removes inf from the game via the 10% AH tax. And otherwise, the market is just moving the same inf around between accounts. It does not cause inflation. Consider this: if we stopped all inf drops, and kept recipe and salvage drops, trading on the market would eventually drain all inf from the game. Farming (not just farming though, all mob defeats etc) actually adds inf to the game, and so is an inflationary force. Farming and marketeering have diametrically opposite effects on inflation in the game economy.
  3. If this was true (I mean, it clearly isn't, but say it was) then surely all the recipes that drop while you farm will then be worth much more, right? So if purple recipes are suddenly worth 100 million inf, then every purple that drops for a farmer will net them 100 million. These vastly inflated prices we'll apparently see will benefit the people who generate the most recipes -- i.e. the farmers. Seems like a win for them.
  4. Also, they should then have to /em drinking a cup of tea for at least five minutes before they can manage to do anything else.
  5. I'd like to offer my arc Zombie Ninja Pirates! for consideration (#18051). It's a not entirely serious tale of salty sea dogs, zombie ninja pirates in a bottle, and a girl from the circus.
  6. I don't think anyone has mention this yet, but the last five price display is very buggy at the moment. There is a significant amount of cross-wiring going on, so the last five prices you see might well be from the actual item plus a completely unrelated one. If you see something where some of the prices are in the millions, and some are in the thousands, that's probably the cause. But if it's an item where the prices are the same order of magnitude, or where one items sells a lot more frequently that the other, the prices might look consistent but still be misleading. Hopefully the HC team will be able to fix it at some point, but until then, buyer AND seller need to beware.
  7. When I saw the thread before the fix, I was very disappointed to find it wasn't a thread about marketeering.
  8. This sort of 'decent IOs with the nice uniques' build is exactly the sort of build that my duo partner and I are running. We're going through Dark Astoria at the moment, and we're deliberate not slotting Incarnate level shifts because they make the game too easy. It seems like a shame to be running content specifically designed to get Incarnate salvage, but not be able to use that salvage to make cool shiny things because it makes the game significantly less fun to play.
  9. This isn't quite correct: the badges are usually split between two levels of IO. So for example, Warhead is the badge for creating level 25 and 30 Damage and Knockback IOs. You need to create 8 level 25, 8 level 30 and one more than can be either level. But those 17 IOs could be all Damage, all Knockback, or any mix of both. The important thing is how many of each level.
  10. Ron Hughes and Juan Jiminez don't have their own story arcs, they use the same pool of shared missions for KR. Since you don't have those two, I would guess that you have instead been introduced to Linda Summers, who is the third contact in the pool there. AFAIK, for those types of carbon-copy contacts you'll only ever get offered one of the set, because they have the same missions.
  11. "It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating."
  12. I generally hate voiced NPCs in games, unless it's one of the rare cases where a) the developers could afford to employ actual skilled actors and b) the writing is high enough quality that you want to have to listen to it slowly instead of being able to skim over it. And even worse than voiced important dialogue is voiced background comments. They always end up being repetitive and grating. It's one thing to have NPC dialogue ticking away in the General chat box where I can glance at it if I feel like it. But I would find it extraordinarily irritating -- and not very immersive -- have to listen to an endless stream of "I heard that F1ame VVarri0r took down a Council base!"
  13. Yeah, nobody 'worked hard' to get judgement on HC. The Incarnate system requires no unlocking. Threads and Incarnate XP drop in regular content. There are bucketfuls of threads and emp merits handed out during the first vet levels. Characters don't work for the Incarnate system, it just happens to them. In fact, the most challenging thing about the Incarnate system here is finding the damn scroll bar on the Incarnate crafting window. Since HC has a reasonably large and fairly stable playerbase, perhaps it's time to return to the original system of Incarnate xp and salvage dropping only in Incarnate content.
  14. Yes, I hope we might get an uptick in new returnees, as people who don't normally keep up with gaming news start looking around for new things to play, or browse gaming sites, and happen to stumble across info about the game's revival. This was how I found out last October -- I randomly went to check up on progress of the successor projects, and suddenly found all these people talking about CoX itself being back.
  15. Do you also only play the highest DPS set for each archetype? Because if you don't, you aren't doing as much DPS as you could.
  16. Yes, Dual Pistols/Martial Combat is crazy amounts of fun! I don't know how well it performs against other sets, but I also don't care because the animations are so enjoyable. I never get tired of kicking mobs into the distance and shooting them while they're still mid-air. Burst of Speed + Hail of Bullets is a perfect combination, and the PBAoE slow in Martial Combat adds an extra dollop of awesomesauce. I love watching mobs flail slowly around me while I pick them off and ponder which of my fine selection of AoEs to deploy when the survivors finally arrive.
  17. One thing you need to remember about CoH is that almost all of the content takes place inside instanced missions. So even if there are a lot of people playing on a server, you'll still see relatively few of them running around in-zone. It can look a lot emptier than it really is.
  18. Reunion is hosted in Germany.
  19. Welcome to the game! Reunion is pretty busy at peak Euro times, and English is the language used almost all the time in the main channels. As someone said above, joining the Looking for Group channel will be your biggest route into finding teams, and I see plenty of low-level content being advertised on Reunion. Some low level stuff you might see advertised are: DFB (Death from Below) - a quick, short task force (TF) for sub level 20 characters to get XP and some nice low-level buffs to their characters. The minimum level is 1, so you can jump in literally from the moment you materialise in Atlas Park. Posi 1 (Positron's Task Force 1) - minimum level 10. 1 - 1 1/2 hours Posi 2 (Positron's Task force 2) - minimum level 11. 1 - 1 1/2 hours Synapse (Synapse's Task Force) - minimum level 15. 2 - 3 hours Frostfire team, or Hollows team - a group doing story arcs in The Hollows hazard zone. While you could join at any level, it's good for around levels 5-15. You might also see people advertising for teams doing missions in in Kings Row, which is ~5-10. The completion times are very rough estimates, and might be longer or shorter. If you see someone describing their TF as 'speed' or similar, then it will be faster but will get you less XP, as they're probably after the badge for completing the TF. One thing to note is that once a TF is started new players can't be recruited to the team, so it's not a good idea to join if you think you might have to leave before they end.
  20. Lucent Legacy of Light – Defeat 200 Legacy Chain Lieutenants Ember Legacy of Flame – Defeat 100 Legacy Chain minions There's an area in NE Mercy with glowing runes on the floor, which is a location for Lt Harris's arc and is full of Legacy Chain, including Lieutenants. It's one of the later open world missions and constantly spawns new mobs, so it's a super quick way to get both the Legacy Chain badges.
  21. Oh, bid what you like, it's your inf. Unless you STOLE it from other players by listing drops for more than 1 inf, I guess. In which case, I dunno. Give it away to the NPCs in Atlas who have been fundraising for displaced Galaxy City refugees for about ten years?
  22. I'm not saying that listing for one is merely reasonable. I'm saying it's clearly the only morally correct thing to do.
  23. You know, if you think about it, listing drops high is far worse than flipping. At least a flipper paid something for the item they're reselling. I paid zero inf for that piece of yellow salvage that dropped. I just went out and punched ersatz Nazis for fun, and the yellow salvage was literally a freebie side effect of enjoying my character. Oh, but I earned it, people claim. Really, though? It was really that much harder for you to fire off a Judgement in the middle of the ITF and have a yellow salvage drop that it was to bid on the auction house? Flippers get margin, if they're lucky, and are vulnerable to changes in the market prices, but every inf from selling a drop on the AH is pure profit sucked from the veins of our fellow players. TL;DR: Listing drops for anything other than 1 inf is blatant profiteering, and everyone who does it should be ashamed of themselves!
  24. I had no idea that was the case. That does make them a lot more attractive, indeed.
  25. I've watched all the films, although I caught up with the early ones retroactively after, hmm, somewhere around Guardians of the Galaxy, I think. It's pretty much my only form of interaction with Marvel superheroes. It was quite interesting to suddenly understand things about CoX, like why there are quite such stupid-looking horns in the character creator, and why Archery exists as a powerset in a modern world game. Who is your favorite hero? - This is a very hard question to answer. Most fun to watch, best at heroing, person I would most like to hang out with and chat? I'm so paralyzed with indecision now that I'm just going to say Ant-Man and move on. Who is your least favorite hero? - Bucky Barnes. I don't have anything specific against him, he's just sort of...there. It's like they never really figured out what to do with him beyond a MacGuffin. Who is your favorite villain? - The Civil War dude. Zemo. Also Loki, until he got a bit redeemed and much less fun. He's great in Avengers, though (stupid horns notwithstanding). Who is your least favorite villain? - The robot dude in Age of Ultron. Not that James Spader doesn't do a bang-up job, but he was just sort of randomly evil and lacking in motive and logic. Who is your favorite actor? - RDJ. He's never anything less than 100% giving it his all. I love the quote from some thing with Chris Evans where he says, "Downey comes to these movies and gives a f*ck. He gives a f*ck. It makes you feel like, 'Should I be giving more of a f*ck?'" Who is your least favorite actor? - I liked Chris Hemsworth at first, but as time goes on he's less Thor and more Chris-Hemsworth-with-a-hammer. I still like him, I just find it grating. I semi-agree with the point about Mark Ruffalo, but I think he's fine in some things and much less good in others. Maybe it's down to the director? What is your favorite movie in the MCU? - The one I've watched the most times is probably Avengers. I do like Winter Soldier, though. And Civil War. And Black Panther. Also the Ant-Man movies. What is your least favorite movie? - I think the one I enjoyed least in the cinema was probably Thor: Ragnarok. And I didn't hate that, or feel like I'd wasted my money, I just enjoyed it least. (Although honestly, my answer to almost all of the 'your favourite' questions is some variation on Venom. But clearly that doesn't count.)
