  1. Hi Koven, and Welcome Home! So I'll try and answer the best I can, probably I'll repeat somethings others have mentioned. 1. In CoH there's really 2 types of soloing groups of enemies - regular soloing and farming (farming being many, many enemies). Everyone can solo regular missions. It's easier for some characters than others but it is doable on just about everything. You make your character better through placing enhancements in your powers. There are basically 2 types of enhancements - "regular" enhancements and set enhancements. Set enhancements give bonuses which will make your character more powerful, but as you may imagine, are more expensive. Farming is a min/maxing of these set enhancements to be very good at a specific damage type (fire usually) which will allow you to take on many mobs at a time. However, making a farmer is expensive. I can go further into these but may be information overload. 2. Like was said, there isn't a RL cash shop. There is an in-game currency cash shop (P2W vendor) which has some nice things that are cosmetic / functional, but unlike the name, is not game-breaking. 3. Ask around in game or on the specific server sub-forums here. There are good guilds out there. And one little tidbit of info - a starting player is usually in-game cash strapped. Ask in the help channel about money making tips. Also because of this, know that you start out with 6 available costume slots from the start, and any costumes you make or changes made to any costume prior to level 10 is free.
  2. I don't think i'd change all that much. Obviously an updated graphics engine that utilizes more cores and GPU. I'd even try to have a legacy graphics option to it'd look exactly like it is now (or as close as we could come). I'd try to make as much of Paragon one loading zone without war walls. Yeah yeah but you know as well as I the reason for the war walls is technology and coding issues. They fit a rather decent story around it and kudos to them, but I'd want paragon and the rogue isles try to feel like a big city instead of smaller maps. Flowing hair, facial animations, weather would be part of the new engine too. I'd add a housing system separate from the bases. Basically there'd be 3 or 4 apartment floorplan templates you could buy and decorate. No SG needed. The entrance to which would be an existing building in Paragon or Rogue Isles or Croatoa. I think lastly I would add zone events more subtle than the rikti invasion. Basically on occasion the crime element in a paragon zone or rebel element in Praetoria or say, longbow activity would increase in a given zone. To combat this (or aid this if you're so inclined) you would need to fight the mobs on the street - you would be level scaled for this. Fight them off and the baddies go away for a while. Do nothing and the invasion would increase leading to some zone-wide penalties - including instanced missions in that zone.
  3. I loved monopoly and chutes and ladders and life. But I really really liked Axis and Allies. I also had Fortress America and did some research with Jane's in the library to create a WW3 version on the AA game board with the Nato vs Warsaw pact, China, The Arab League, etc.
  4. 49. The number doesn't bother me much though.
  5. I have noticed many of these things you mentioned, DrZeus. I don't see the changes positively or negatively. The positive for me is I can play CoH and it's relatively similar to what I remember. That's fine by me. Bigger picture I suppose.

  7. Yeah. Sometimes I know the bio before I make the char. Sometimes afterwards. I always write the bio as if the char is telling it, so on my undead char - he just was reanimated and doesn't remember anything beforehand. It's a short bio.
  8. Crane Kick. I kinda use it as my finisher.
  9. I initially wasn't going to reply to this post because I cannot tell if the OP is serious or not, but here goes anyway. I have not experienced the same things the OP seemingly has in that post. Quite the opposite in fact. I am wary when people generalize as much as the OP did. Switch to the help channel and you will see what I mean - there is some actual help going on there. Sure some of it may be a link to a web site because explaining the incarnate system in /help would be rough.
  10. I have also heard this is cooler than being cool, but I cannot confirm.
  11. Obviously not. That's part of the fun IMO. Imagine if there was some formula or algorithm to winning a CC? No, TY.
  12. Newness. Even the mistakes. I'd love to experience COH for the first time again.
  13. My MA/WP scrapper. First is the concept which is similar to Wonder Woman. She's my fav hero. But, I also like the powersets. I just really like MA with it's pretty quick and good looking animations save for Eagle's Claw, but I can deal with that. WP is a very low maintenance secondary. I rarely run out of stamina unless it was drained, and if my health is low, I just find a few S/L mobs to stand next to as she's S/L capped and her regen increases the more mobs that are in melee range. That's all of the on paper reasons. The real reason is more subjective. I just enjoy playing her the most.
  14. I put down randomly. I only use it if I am going into a AE farm or MSR. No other time, but if it extends further then that's fine.
  15. My main is a MA/WP/Body Mastery scrapper. I will post her build, in case there's something you see that you like. I didn't include incarnate abilities but her recharge is high enough to almost perma the 120s Barrier (1 sec downtime). 16. I didn't read other replies so my apologies if I repeat things. I would go for accolades, and do MSR and Hamidon raids, and go for incarnate materials, materials both the MSR and Hamidon raids could give as drops (MSR) and rewards (Hamidon).
  17. Ah, well Civilization games have great replay value for me. That's why they've always been on my computers since the original was launched... 30 years ago? Jeez. Star Wars Galaxies has limited replay values. One for each class (8). After that, not so much but it's worth playing for the class stories alone.
  18. Got back to playing Elder Scrolls Online. It's fun. Bad combat system, but this time that's not putting me off as much as it usually does.
  19. I want to add to that a little. The mere fact that I am able to play this game right now is all I could ask for. If that was it, that would have been (and still is) fine with me. But, you have the infrastructure, GMs, and game updates (among other things) all of which is -way- more than I could have asked for, but here we are. All voluntary work if I am not mistaken. Thanks, indeed.
  20. Well, I didn't seem to be able to avoid the Wards as much as I wanted to. I'd be completely out of story arc missions by mid 32, including the mayhem missions and new contacts. My last red char I did nothing but newspaper and mayhem missions from 32 to 34 which was a chore because I wasn't going to the wards again. Then I found MSR and it was all good. My point though is this quest drought was most certainly not there nor was the wards and I had 0 problem leveling villains to cap via contacts and newspaper / mayhem missions on live.
  21. I just like Blue side better. And I really, really don't like first ward and night ward. Blue I can avoid those. Red, not as easy. Edit: Which brings me to something that I don't get. I don't remember the original Red storylines drying up so quickly on live at CoV's release, but it seems now there isn't as much Red content without traveling to First / Dark Ward. At release of CoV, I don't think there was First / Dark Ward so you went right up to 50 in Red Zones IIRC. I don't know when that was changed but I am -not- a fan of it.
  22. Yeah I stopped. Again. There is a frustration level with that game that isn't present in most other games I play, so I start playing it for a while and the frustration level builds until the game is no longer fun to play and I leave again. Fortunately it's F2P so I'll probably try it again in about 18 months or so.
  23. Actually I never had the flag on. I'm unsure even how to do so. I just started RPing with some people (blue name and all) and it was fun but it became much for me. Not their fault in any way - I'm not saying that. And they're really nice people, but trying to do that every time I saw them was much.
