  1. What is going on here? Is Tanker Savage Melee different from Scrapper and Brute?
  2. The criticism wasn't about what kind of question it is, it was about the ambiguity of the subject. Perhaps if you put more examples like "or give a ToHit check to a targeted toggle if [insert condition]". Considering the turn your thread has taken, people are now not discussing "Is it possible?" but other aspects of your inquiry which are fully in the realm of rationality of the suggestion. So, is that what you wanted? You should have probably clarified.
  3. Luke Skywalker and Lando agrees. No one should need the force or extreme luck to blow up an object.
  4. I'd say that has no business being in a support set that's usable by a controller.
  5. Rather than a buff to fury generation, how about a look at fury degradation?
  6. Wow, how many pages of characters do you have? Although I used to have a lot of characters on live, I've only gotten around to making around 20 characters built up and 4 more on pineapple I plan to roll up if the new Tanker changes go live.
  7. I think my 1st Praetorian was actually an older version of another character from Primal. But overall, I agree with this statement: For me, if I'm making a Praetorian, I tend to make part of their backstory conform to the setting rather than the other way around. At some point, Praetoria was as wild and varied as Primal but events just divided the timelines. So my deamon-werewolf guy ended up just being under the boot and control of the Praetors and he respected their strength and agreed to work with them. The part that conforms to Praetoria is he's been under observation and service for many years. He's a Loyalist, btw. I don't think it takes too much to make outworld origins work. The simplest way is putting a bit of "history" to it.
  8. You probably didn't do yourself any favors starting off with /fire but mind/ should have you covered. I don't see why you can't sleep the werewolf or if its a boss, use levitate while you're stacking holds. I rarely put KB protection in my squishies until later (like lvl 30+) and it's manageable. Until your build matures, use Domination defensively. That is, if you're dry on END, pop Domination. If you miss your hold and you get KB'ed or mezzed, pop Domination. If you see multiple bosses about to engage you, pop Domination. Later when you get more recharge in your build you can afford to use Domination offensively. I have no idea why you'd have trouble as mind/ is quite good solo. I know the ToT mobs can be tough (I think their level is not what you'd encounter in instances) but so long as you can land your controls, it should be normal barrel fish shooting.
  9. Can we get anime highschool of the dead boob-reflex too? /sarcasm
  10. I do believe I didn't say that. I said LOOK INTO IT. It might only seem that way until you put forth the bit of brainpower to contemplate these variables. Well first of all, this is a beta thread on experimental test changes. Not a nerf. Secondly, you should be losing sleep or at the least expending effort, if you're actually testing anything. This isn't the thread to sit back and enjoy the freaking game lol
  11. It's a good power. As a Stalker, you're going to have to chase runners and CE makes that even easier and although it's a Knockup, sometimes Mass Levitate does cause foes to drift away from me a bit and CE is insurance that they don't get up and run off. It also has -damage which can be very useful. Also you don't have to really dedicate any slots to it which is nice if you want to conserve slots. But you're also correct in that CE will stop you from returning to Hide and interfere with Placate. This can jack up your opportunity if you're trying to stack hide-crit + insight on Greater Psi Blade on those resistant foes. Funnily enough, my Psi/Ice Stalker is also 41 but he's been there for a couple weeks as I stopped playing to move and then when I got to the new place, started playing a NB/Regen concept character heavily. Anyway, I tend to lean on "I'd rather have it than not" and just use it less like an armor toggle and more like a control, i.e. I turn it on when I know I won't be going into Hide anytime soon and turn it off only when I want to use Placate and GSB with insight. It requires some extra foresight in my strategies but it's not impossible. Also, you can cancel toggles during animations, if you're interested in trying that strategy.
  12. Quantitatively, one would then question this rather than tip toe around it or toss your hands up and surrender. If it's a small nerf for one but a huge nerf for another, then that another must have been getting a disproportionate benefit from something thus it's going to warrant taking into account. It does no one any favors to just ignore it. Like, if we could find something that is only a minor nerf to every build but Titan Weapons which would actually be strongly nerfed, that MIGHT just be something to look into.
  13. No, you lose Taunt for Placate.
  14. Interesting how long the "SS for Scrapper" thread is but not much talk about TW for stalker. I imagine the PBAoE (what was it? Whirling smash or something) would be the power to drop for Assassin's Strike. Build Momentum would be replaced with Build up... Not a big deal since Assassin's Strike would be fast to gain momentum. Considering how much control a Stalker has over their crits, it might be a bit much...
  15. Not sets, just that ONE enhancement. Might get some interested in working toward a reward/goal like collecting 100 merits and socketing it in any one of their attacks.
  16. Maybe I'm not picky or I take to heart the saying "variety is the spice of life". I like redside. I like goldside. I like daylight. I like nighttime. This change for a month has me more curious what they'll do for the next holiday event rather than worry about possibly considering a virtual night is going to swing my mood meaningfully into an undesired state (because it won't lol). In fact, I wonder if it's possible to play with the settings so that caves actually look pitch dark outside of light sources.
  17. I'm no psychologist but I wonder if such a disorder was a thing around 100 years ago. Rather than assume it's a condition, I presume it's a symptom of something else that might have to do with human kind's disconnect from nature. Or perhaps its just current habit to categorize every spectrum of emotion into some kind of label.
  18. I never understood why people get so moody so quickly when things shift into "slightly different" territory. Same thing happens when it gets really hot or cold: "This weather is painful! I'm drenched in sweat!", "Nope, it's freezing. I'm staying inside!" Or gosh forbid, both: "I hate this place! The weather is so bi-polar!" Here's a trick to help you get by with the change to night (or acclimating to changing weather). Just remember, it's only temporary. Embrace it. When daytime comes back to Atlas, it will look all the more bright for it. Of course, this whole subject could just be hyperbole (I'll bet it is) and no depression is being triggered at all and someone just wanted to chat about people's feelings about the new day/night cycle. That's probably the case in general and me being the person to constantly think and consider what people talk about to such a debilitating degree that I can't reliably hold a random conversation about trivialities because of it.
  19. I created a concept for a Dragon Lich (that is, his kind are humanoid dragons. Where he's from, liches are called Judges) and they trap and summon undead dragons as well as modify their own body parts to take on the attributes and abilities of those dragons. One such spell swaps out his "throat" so that he can breath different elemental breath attacks at his enemy like all those cool elemental dragons of fiction. The game limitations allow him fire breath, ice breath and poison breath. Currently a Brute, I'll likely remake him into a Tanker but he uses three different elemental breath attacks and it's just fun how the concept fit together. Too bad there's no "wind" breath (could be a control), lightning breath, miasma breath. I probably wouldn't recommend such a build to anyone as the breath attacks are kinda long. So if you don't enjoy seeing your character shoot stuff out of their mouth alot, you probably would get irritated.
  20. Have you ever used the vet power Sands of Mu? Well, Dark Melee has an attack just like it called Shadow Maul that you can enhance. Remember how much you needed to shuffle to hit more than 2 targets with Sands of Mu? Well Tanker Shadow Maul can hit 5 targets rather easily on test. Run that through other powersets like Spine's Ripper, Electric Melee's Jacob's Ladder, Ice Melee's Frost, etc as well as some of the PBAoE attacks having a higher cap and area. There will be exceptions though. Know how Super Strength's Footstomp and Titan Weapon's everything had some pretty knarly AoE effect? Those set's won't have as drastic of a change in feel.
  21. Using Fear to control mobs is a bit of a hit-or-miss as fear doesn't quite perform well without something else to hold them in kind of like stun but worse. You said you didn't want a damage aura and I'm assuming that is so fear isn't broken as often and allow the foes to hit or run away...I'd actually say you're better off aiming to add something into the mix to immobilize or slow them down instead. You might be able to work with Spines as it has a slow and immobilize component to it. Or using Ice Armor and it's knockdown patch to slip up those that try to get away. Another possibility is to use something other than Tanker. Defender, Corruptor and Controller have far more options to fear mass amounts of foes and can be built to be defensive as well. Yet another option could be Stalker who will have a high chance to Fear in an AoE when using Assassin's Strike from hide. It also tends to focus on single target and has no damage aura. Beyond all that, I actually created a concept for a melee set and started from the premise that it incentives using fear and sleep on your foes. Tell me what you think:
  22. Katana has a no redraw option. You're really only looking at the beam rifle redraw everytime you swap from using a katana attack.
  23. There are some interesting quirks for Stalker Dual Blades. For example, you don't really need the Empower combo since Stalker can auto-recharge its Build Up which is a large damage and ToHit buff without a ToHit check. If you DO want to use the Empower Combo, it does get a little bonus buff since you likely won't keep it up. It has double the bonus to damage than other ATs which, you CAN stack it (it's trivially easy to use BU > AS > Placate within 15 seconds especially considering the in-combat AS animation is quick and snappy). Part of the appeal of playing a Stalker isn't about the heights of its DPS but the strength of its bursts so if you LIKE to pull off 180% damage buff using BU+Empower+Guassian Proc you can, but It's a throw-away combo that you don't need. I'm sure you can get a decent damage buff for a longer amount of time for Brute/Scrap/Tank but you won't get as high, again, that's the appeal of Stalker. Something else that's a bit unique for Stalker combos is their Sweep combo, if you land Ablating Strike which is a single target attack, it will trigger an auto-hit AoE (at least I don't believe it ever had a ToHit check) and it's a nice opening salvo or AoE shreadder if you've got a nice scrap going and you have the Assassin's Mark proc to get you lots of BUs. Just every time you see Build Up get instantly recharged, BU > AS > Ablating and continue. As for ignoring a set's gimmick, that isn't uncommon. Lots of people suggest ignoring Psi melee's gimmick or dual pistol's gimmick. Heck, Stalker Staff pretty much is excluded from the gimmick and it's all the better for it. I wouldn't advice ignoring combos on a Stalker, you just don't need to constantly use combos or all of the combos. Frankly, you should be able to ignore a gimmick if it suits your style or the circumstance of the situation. I will say though, the lit up rings is rather confusing when Assassin's Focus uses the same UI indicator so maybe they can change that.
  24. And like I said before, selling those TOs and DOs that drop or the cost for 6 or so Acc DOs is chump change. For the cost of buying the DOs at lvl 12 and 17, it's about the price of 1 crafted lvl 25 Acc IO. We're talking about 40k for some Acc DOs for your attacks while selling a DO nets you around 1/3 of the price of 1 Acc. And my advice goes along with my previous advice to join a low level TF and complete some story arcs to get some merits. Having some extra accuracy will make doing that far more enjoyable. And this is coming from a player that LOVES playing low levels more than high levels. To newbies that have no inf and aren't familiar with the game, I think you're overestimating how quickly one passes into post level 22 territory. And frankenslotting or attuned IOs isn't really in the equation if the target of the advice has little money. It's not about maximizing accuracy, it's about better QoL in the low levels for a new or less seasoned player.
  25. ~sigh~...making me do math... It does...until you get to fighting +1 foes. Then your hit chance drops to just under 90%. If my calculations are right: Hitchance = clamp(AccMod * clamp(BaseHitChance + ToHitMods - DefMod) 0.81 = clamp(1*clamp(0.65 [65% chance to hit +1 foes, down from 75% of +0 foes] + 0.16 [+12% from Hydra and +4% at level 14] - 0)) Throw in the possibilities of +2 or +3 foes and you drop to 70% and below. Throw in foes with +defense, ToHit debuffs, Endurance drains and you will start feel every miss. 2 Acc DOs in an attack gets around 30% Acc and pushes those +2 situations and you're back into the 90% hit chances. For all I know, I'm doing the math wrong but the only reason to suggest not to put accuracy DOs in your attacks early on is if you're hardheaded and want to win a forum debate because you're literally shooting yourself in the foot to try and make more accuracy look bad. It's not. Slot DO Accuracy.
