You're killing me smalls. You Do not know what a Brute is? I run a Dark/Invul Brute. Situationally awesome. I can Tank. If you do not believe that then I cannot show it to you. Sorry for your lack of understanding. Would a Tank be a little easier to do that with.... slightly. But guess what. If you are holding agro and not dying it does not matter. The Brute can do that. I have a solid ST attack chain. That adds quite a bit more damage than a Tank. As much as a Scrapper? No. But If I am Tanking AND doing significant damage? This is not a bad combo. But think what you want. You have been around a few weeks. if you think there is no place for Brutes in high end incarnate work you must be right.

I think you have to look at "special cases" quite a bit when looking at this type of work. MOST Corruptors are very good at incarnate work due to heals or debuffs. Now take an Ice/Cold Corruptor... Fuggedaboutit. The Benumb and Sleet powers are so good due to the debuffs, and the pairing of Scourge with Ice's two DoT AoEs.....just wow. Rather than pick ATs you really need to look at the job needed to be done on each individual trial and bring the powers to get the job done, with the AT that has the most powerful and synergistic ability to deliver the powers. This requires an understanding of the Trials and an in depth knowledge of game power mechanics. This is one of the many reasons CoH/CoV still delivers. The complexity is just astounding. No one even tries for this anymore. Most new players from other MMORPGs will miss the details because they never realized a game could have this much under the hood. For instance, How many people realize you can only stack 5 interfaces of the same type on a target, but if you have 5 T4s you can still stack another 5 T3s of the same Interface....?

In truth (in my very slanted opinion) it is most preferable to have a TON of Blasters and Corruptors. For certain trials and badge attempts very specific AT/Powersets are almost necessary (TPN outside crowd control, etc) Then a Tank and a couple helers. To break it down DPS / DPS-Debuff / Heal / Tank. In a >>>>> heavy left to light right mix. Fast results achieved. But I know an SG that does the Really Hard Way Badge every Saturday and ANYBODY is welcome, any AT. Must be 50+3, fully built, tier 3-4 in all incarnates, and certain pets and Destinies preferred. But the AT/Powersets? You choose to run that Force Field MM or KM/Regen Scrapper? You crazy gamer, join us!

Triggered. Bound to happen in this thread. But still, really low hanging fruit. Saying Tankers and Scrappers are desired and Brutes are not desired? Wow. Any type of in depth analysis might have mitigated this. But.. . squanto was offered. Sooooooo This guy thinks a Fire/Fire Tank or a Kinetic Melee Regen Scrapper would be better than any Brute on a Incarnate Trial. After all, any Tank or Scrapper is desired. Any Brute is not desired.

I was warned a fire blaster "burns" through endurance way faster than you can keep up without blues etc.

My only experience with Theft of Essence PROC is in Dark Melee's Siphon Life. A melee attack that heals the caster. A Theft of Essence PROC in there is gold for END hungry builds. Cauterizing Aura is a different animal...
-
Will this proc in a damage aura like the Blaster Cauterizing Aura?
-
I only slapped it in there for the +End set Bonus, will probably reconfigure that power a bit
-
Here is the half baked build I am currently on. This is looking for to be changed. I am new to this playstyle. I am pretty sure the Theft of Essence PROC is useless where it is. I am playing with powers to see what I like and what works. Just starting to play the sets. Which ATs or specific power sets are most in need of a review?
Snarky replied to KaizenSoze's topic in General Discussion
I never went to Beta. From what i read Rage would only crash if stacked. An upfront end cost of 25 was charged. But those who do stack it crapped their diapers and threw pacifiers around the room because they would still have crash (because they insist in stacking). Maybe the Beta version was different. It was thousands of pages of people arguing over a couple small points The Devs ended up abandoning the entire thing -
I completely PROCd burn and one other power (at work now….graverobbing) but I forget which one. Then threw on Winters a purp set etc. It is damage focused build
-
I started a Fire^3 Blaster. From those that know me you know how far outside my comfort zone this is I am NOT going ranged and ranged defense for one. My current MiDs build has negligible defenses and chases damage and a bit of accuracy recharge and bigger End pool The other oddness I am doing is pitting in Rain (situatonal i know) any tips are appreciated

Yet another, another Sentinel improvement thought...
Snarky replied to Due Regard's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The suggestions box. Where all good ideas go to die. True in every universe. There was actually an engineering write up to put a blast shield on the exhaust port of the Death Star. The engineer was told to put it in the suggestions box. -
....because it is a discussion about an AT I enjoy? ...to pump my forum numbers so I will be famous like a Rok Stah? ...to confuse the debate for no apparent reason? ...to elicit strange reactions? you decide.

Yet another, another Sentinel improvement thought...
Snarky replied to Due Regard's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Thoughts…. agreed, it is better going to be another long cold winter -
I meant to preface my post with: “Why are you using Regen?” Regen is, in my opinion, not a synergistic pairing with Dark. Unless it is a character concept necessity I would jump over to Dark or Invul for much better performance

Howard the Duck for Predident!

slapping two half sets of 3 each of Eradication, and/or Scirocco's Dervish, and/or Multi-Strike give interesting ways to pump your Res to Energy/Neg, Smash/Lethal, Fire Cold. I use places like the Damage Auras to fill in the last bits of spackle on a big build and finish out the numbers

LRSF does not require an unlock. Just Morty. But since the SF was not specified it is a 50% chance that is the hang up rather than go looking for all the other hundred possible explanations

I am fixated on two armor types, Dark and invulnerability. So, full disclosure up front. Dark/Dark is a Beast. I have written diatribes on the subtleties of this (what looks to be a straightforward resist set) finely nuanced set. Dark/Invulnerability is the pinnacle of "I do not give a shit" Built correctly (please do not even mention how you can fix the Psi hole, I will hunt you down) a Dark/Invulnerability can wade into anything in the game and be okay. Yes, psi is a problem. Eat an orange and fade into Scrapper tactics. You're a Brute, act like you got a criminal mind. Other than that just out of the box Dark/Invul is near God Mode. With a Hyperstrike Invul build tweaked for global Recharge (Dark/Invul tightens up so sweetly with recharge....) and you are a shining example of what real damage in a tank shell can be.
