    Ranged Blaster

Sounds like you’d like Archery. All ranged, great AoE. One of the fastest recharging (and not PBAoE) nukes in Rain of Arrows. Bind it to a button with “powexec_location target” and let it fly.

    Dark/Invul

My main on live was also Dark/Invuln. Such a beast even before IOs. I've replaced him with Dark/Shield on Homecoming, but he is not forgotten!
  3. I don’t have a build handy, but Staff/Dark is a great combo both thematically and practically. Using Staff’s Form that reduces endurance costs helps while leveling the very end hungry /Dark. Plus the +Def from Guarded Spin is always welcomed on a mostly-resistance set. I was considering rolling this combo on a Tanker soon to take advantage of the new AoE changes. If I get a chance later, I’ll try to make a build for a Scrapper.
  4. Hey Sovera. So I finally came around to rolling this combo, and it's the fastest I've taken a character to 50 on Homecoming (You know you're having fun when you've only made one alt in the time it took to get a toon to 50). Thing is an absolute blender. Claws is probably my favorite set in the game too. Perfect for exemplaring or high level. Here's my build. Don't have the winter or purples slotted yet, but everything else is. Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 5. As others have said, relying on an IO is not ideal. And it really does not proc as much as it should. My /DA brute doesn’t have endurance issues though. Cloak of Fear? Well that’s the thing. I don’t even take Cloak of Fear on my DA characters because it’s so absurdly expensive for what it does. It needs a complete overhaul. As for the taunt thing, that’s just me being a shameless Scrapper lover lol. Threw that in for kicks.
  6. One of my mains is a Katana/DA Brute. I agree that the only two things that should be touched (if at all. Please fix Regen first, DA is fine) are the endurance issues and Cloak of a Fear/Oppressive Gloom. Anything more than that, and we’ve got ourselves an OP set. DA is currently one of the sturdiest sets out there with the best heal in the entire game. It’s genuinely difficult to die with a good build. Reduce the toggles to .21/sec like Shield, and lower the cost of Dark Regen by a small percent. That’s fair. Oppressive Gloom and Cloak of Fear is where we’ll have to get creative. Couple bad ideas below: OG: Have a built in taunt, and maybe reduce defense of enemies around you. Could keep the - Health aspect as it’s unique. Cloak of Fear: keep the -ToHit, but remove the actual Fear effect. Might have to be renamed. Reduce the endurance cost to something not absurd. Just spitballing. Definitely powersets and even ATs that need love before DA though.

Solid resistances and recharge. If Psionic attacks get through, they'll hurt, but Siphon Life is in your attack chain and should keep you healed up. Ideally you'll jump in to a mob use Soul Drain, then Shield Charge and Fireball. Begin with your single target chain on bosses that are left and use Fireball whenever it's up for mobs. Hope this helps!
  8. It depends how tanky you want to be. /Fire definitely trades some sturdiness for its insane DPS tools. It has no built in KB protection, no native defense, and more resistance holes than other resistance secondaries. With IO sets, you of course can cover these flaws, but you’ll never reach the levels of defense of other sets with the same investment. That being said, my SS/Fire Brute is an absolute blast to play, and with a solid team, you will be absolutely ok. Frankly I think you answered your own question in the original post. Claws/Bio is incredibly sturdy in general content and an excellent farming set for S/L. I plan to run this combo on a Scrapper soon. I’ve heard great things about it from both people in game and on this board. I believe @Sovera specifically had experience running this combo with (in Borat voice) great success.
  9. +1 for DM/Shield. Biased as my main is one, but it’s such a strong combo. DM gives you Incredible single target DPS, utility with its -ToHit, heal, & Dark Consumption, and Soul Drain is one of the best “build up” powers in the game. Shield is IMO the ‘best’ secondary for a Scrapper besides Bio Armor. Its main weakness is filled by DM’s heal, and it fills out DM’s AoE weakness with Shield Charge. Against All Odds gives you a taunt aura and increases your damage even higher after Soul Drain to boot. As Mitchman said, grab Fireball from the Epic Pools later and you’ve got crazy single and AoE DPS. However, I will say if AoE damage is your big focus, you’ll be waiting awhile. Not counting Dark Consumption and Soul Drain, you don’t get an actual good AoE attack until 35. And Fireball needs two pre powers in the epic, so you won’t be adding that til 44 at a minimum. Exemplaring can be pretty rough if you don’t build a specific build for it. I did Synapse the other week and had just Smite and Siphon Life. It was pretty brutal. You should have zero problems soloing with this combo starting at lvl 1 though. And once you’re a higher level and built out, it’s one of the best soloing combos in the game. AV and even TFs such as an ITF can be soloed. Happy to help with a build if you decide to go this route!
  10. Just rolled my new DB Scrapper as /Elec over /Energy for this reason alone. Feel like it couldn’t be that hard to add the option if it’s already there for DA.
  11. Hello all. Normal Scrapperlock main here who has recently become obsessed with Dominators. Don't know how it took me this long to take one this high a level. He's currently lvl 31. Anyway, I absolutely love the build I have put together for my Dark/Dark/Soul Dom. Was so happy when I saw the end product. ...that was until I noticed I forgot to take Heart of Darkness. Midnight Grasp might stand out as well for some, but I will be in melee range often for my PBAoEs. Should I pick up Smite instead of Living Shadows at lvl 2, then drop MG for Heart of Darkness? Never had an issue like this selecting a power in my builds normally. I'm losing it people!

    km /?

I’ll throw /Shield in to the mix. Stalkers lose one of KM’s AoE attacks, and Shield Charge helps fill the gap. Build Up -> Shield Charge -> Auto-Crit Burst combo is awesome.
  13. Hey all. Rolled a SS/Fire Brute, and I'm loving his look/the combo. Believe it or not, it's my first Super Strength toon I've ever made, including Live. Anyway, he's only level 21, but I've began planning his final build. I've found some topics surrounding SS/Fire, but they're mostly focused on farming. I will make a separate farm build for him most likely. My plan for this build would be being able to do most content without any problems at all. Built him for cap melee defense and high resists. Recharge is great with Foot Stomp Forced Feedback. Can someone take a look at my build and let me know your thoughts? Appreciate anything in advance. 14. It’s hard to not recommend Shield Defense every time. Great defense and resists, a taunt aura that buffs your damage, an AoE nuke. The set is amazing. CoH isn’t a game of “best” powers. But for Scrapper secondaries, Shield is a tier above for me. Just wish I could use it with Claws... Anyway, as you can imagine, I vote Shield. Extra damage from Against All Odds and Shield Charges smashing damage will helps when you run in to heavy Psi resist enemies.
  15. Not specific build tips or anything, but a couple of specific Claws things: - I highly recommend putting a KB->KD IO in Shockwave. You want the enemies bunched up to continue the AoE carnage. I’d move the full set you have In it to another power. There are a few 5 set bonuses that are great to put in its place. - Consider putting the Critical Strikes set in Follow Up. You’ll be using it in both single target and AoE attack chains literally whenever it’s up. I find it in Burn is consistent, but in team settings, you sometimes can’t even get burn off before things are dead.
  16. One thing I’m seeing right away is you’re using Efficiency Adaptor instead of Performance Shifter in Stamina and Physical Perfection. The Performance Shifter Chance for Endurance IO is the best End recovery IO in the game. Slot one of those and one Performance Shift - EndMod instead of Eff Adap in both powers. Also replace the Numina’s - Heal in Health with Panacea - Chance for +Health/Endurance. Those enhancement changes will be very noticeable. I’d consider dropping Assault possibly too. Personal preference, but I never find it worth the endurance cost while on a melee toon. Hope this helps!
  17. There's definitely pros and cons to both. I'm currently leveling an AR/Devices Blaster. Very fun and also very thematic. The buffs to Devices have been huge. There's also some synergy with Targeting Drone and Sniper Rifle. When Targeting Drone is active, Sniper Rifle (and Sniper Rifle ALONE. No other snipe power) gets a big damage boost. It does stupid damage. Especially a sniper shot outside of combat. Field Operative is also one of the best sustains of all Blaster secondaries IMO, giving you stealth, regen, and recovery in one. Much better than having to hit another click every time like EM's sustain. However, EM's synergy with AR is very nice too with Boost Range as eknudson said. And some people dislike AR/Devices not having either Build Up or Aim. EM has Build Up. With EM's strong melee attacks, you'll be more likely to jump in to the fray as well. Definitely more of a Blapper set. Both excellent combos IMO so it's really up to what you'd prefer.
  18. Apologies for the second comment so soon, but I completely forgot to mention Ice Melee so I'm glad you did. Another very slept on set. Frost is devastating, especially right after a Critical Strikes proc. I love my Ice/Fire Scrapper.
  19. People always sleep on Claws for some reason. KB->KD IOs took Claws to top tier AoE easily. Pure Lethal damage is probably what scares some people, but you shred mobs so fast you won't even notice. Anyway OP, for what you're asking for specifically, I think you want War Mace. It has *technically* three AoE attacks in Whirling Mace, Shatter, and Crowd Control. I say technically because Shatter is a very slim cone, but it's very easy to hit multiple enemies if you line it up. Whirling Mace is your typical PBAoE. A little slow tbh. But the real bread & butter is Crowd Control. This move is just straight up fun to use, and it's devastating on top of that. I forgot the size of the cone off the top of my head, but it's so damn big. And you'll be constantly knocking enemies down with it. As for single target, you have a great chain consisting of Jawbreaker, Clobber, Shatter, and Pulverize (not that exact order). Clobber does hilarious damage. Like one shotting enemies damage.
  20. That, and I'd love to have the changes from Sentinel Regen ported to other ATs too. The dead horse is a bloody puddle on this subject, but Regen needs some assistance.

    Kinetic melee

Fair points all around. I guess I haven't noticed the ST gap issue as I mostly play in teams and using Burst in between ST attacks helps with the chain. I've been using the T1 attack still too if I do have a gap, and it indeed is quite weak compared to the T2 and T3. I'm only lvl 37 on this toon so far, but my plan was to grab Zapp and Ball Lightning as you mentioned. Looking forward to adding an additional AoE attack to the chain. I do wish Burst's radius was 10' as opposed to 8' too. I don't think that would make it OP by any means.
  22. Wanted to sing praises of Kinetic Melee here. Got a KM/SD I’ve been leveling, and it’s a blast. Kinetic gets a bad rep for long animations. However, the DPA for the main attacks is actually pretty great, and you can technically have your full single target attack chain by lvl 6. Some other pros: - Fastest out of Hide animation for Assassin’s Strike. Seriously it’s stupid quick. - Fast single target attacks make for getting stacks for AS easy. - Burst auto-critting from Hide. Only AoE that has that. And it’s way too fun. Only cons so far? You lose an AoE for AS. However, the auto-crit Burst makes up for that for me. And I rolled Shield as my secondary for Shield Charge for that reason.

    Kinetic melee

Just wanted to update on this build. It’s amazing. I’m shocked Kinetic Melee hasn’t gotten more hype on the forum for Stalkers. Burst auto-critting is way too fun, it has the fastest Assassin’s Strike animation out of hide, the first three attacks are quick and strong which leads to fast stacks. Most fun I’ve had with a character in a long time. Highly recommend leveling yours up when you can.
