What to pair with a /Electric Armor brute?

Kabuki

Recommended Posts

Heya all, trying to decide what to do for my next brute.

I will be using Electric Armor for the defense set, and am kinda torn as to what to use as the primary between the following options:

Psi... I haven't used it yet but hear good things.

Rad... same with Psi, not sure how well it does against AVs.

Fire... always fun and some AOE potential.

Ice Ice maybe?

Street Justice is also on the table as a slightly less flashy option.

Which would synergize best with /Elec, and would be the most overall efficient for high end content, solo and group?

Thanks for any help!

Titan Weapons, Katana, or Elec Melee are all good choices.  Although I tend to stay away from Titan Weapons on a Brute as it takes a lot of +rech to help build up the Fury with your attacks.  Katana is really fast and Elec Melee with Mu Mastery has a lot of AoE capability.  I haven't tried Rad Melee much either to have any kind of an opinion on it.  I do hear good things about it, but so far it feels underwhelming to me.

I havw a radiation melee/electric armor brute that I quite enjoy.  Kills mobs and builds fury just by standing there thanks to two damage auras.  Was an end hog and somewhat hard to level.

Wow, this kinda got necroed!

I had done a Mace/Electric, but it just didn't grab me and it has languished at level 30-is.

I ended up making a Psi/Electric and I have enjoyed it more, though I don't play it as much as my main.

I tend to pair resistance based protection sets with +def granting attack sets like MA, Kat, BS, TW, Staff the first one can't double stack but Grant's def to all, while the other 4 help you get lots of melee def early

Exactly my thinking and argument. Add a set with a Parry effect that helps you softcap Melee, to a Resistance set. Also, Electric Armor helps a lot with Titan Weapons' Endurance consumption.

For future reference. I'm not sure I would go soloing AVs with it partly because I don't think it's ST chain is that strong, but I don't know the numbers either. I think it does work will with /elec since you get an additional heal and another damage aura so if you want more orange numbers versus soloing AVs, this is were I would look.

I loved my Dark/elec I had on Live and was one of the builds I was going to recreate if CoH ever came back, but oddly enough it never stuck around this time. I may have to create it again some day. Others I would look at are Stone and SS. +recharge and end recovery would be helpful for either.

The dark buffs on test are pretty gross.  Consumption does some RIDICULOUS damage and maul is a very solid cone now.

Keep in mind, the testing is in an infant state. There will be fixes and balances, much like what we saw with tanker testing. Initially Tankers got a base 120 endurance, +100% arc increases, and more I dont recall but basically made them OP. Until a beta patch update becomes a release candidate, take the changes with a grain of salt (at least the expectations of the changes).

I agree but I think at the very least we should expect the set to be a better performer for AOE as that is the purpose of this pass.  I 100% expect the enormous damage of consumption to be cut back but I doubt the recharge will be modified too much.  And the maul cone just feels great now so I don't think that would be touched.  There isn't much else that happened though.  It is just a matter of balancing those 2 changes.  It is not nearly as all encompassing as the huge tanker bomb that was dropped.

I ended up going with Psi/Electric. The damage is not overwhelming, but it is fast... against some enemies it is better, some it is worse, especially at the endgame levels.

I already have a DM/SR scrapper, DM/Bio scrapper and a SD/DM tanker, so I am definitely looking forward to the changes.
