Come on out to Kallisti Wharf on Saturday April 18th for our black, white, and grayscale themed costume contest! Come dressed in theme - emotes, costume changes, and creativity are always a plus!

Where?

• Statesman Plaza in the center of Kallisti Wharf on all five shards (Torchbearer, Excelsior, Reunion, Indomitable and Everlasting)
  • Heroes can reach Kallisti Wharf via the tram
  • Villains can reach Kallisti Wharf via the Smuggler’s Submarine in Sharkhead Isle and Grandville

• The 4 runner-up costumes on each shard will win:

Do costumes need to be entirely black/white and greyscale? my best black and white costume has a gold chest emblem and red sash but the main colors are black and white.

Yes, everything needs to be grayscale. (If a costume piece has gold buttons you can't change that is okay - but it needs to be 98%+ grayscale)

Will the judges be running with Cell Shader enabled or disabled?

Does skin have to be greyscale too? E.g. if the costume does not cover the head.

The skin does not need to be grayscale. Some judges run with cell shader and some don't. I wouldn't be able to speak to everyone's graphics settings. We usually try to do an AM/PM light setting on each shard.

Pity there isn't an Arena in Kallisti. Large circular building, indoor lighting all the time...

How long do these normally last? I've never done a CC before and I have a costume that I think fits the theme well, but I couldn't stay much past 5:30 or so.

Depends on the turn out.  Back in the days of Yore (ie:  Last year, during the population lull), the turn outs were less than 20 people sometimes.  THOSE contests flew by quickly!

The last two?  Hoo-geez!  I can't speak for other Shards, but there were so many people on Everlasting that it took quite a while to get to the winner announcement, and that was with the two GMs moving at a very brisk pace as they glanced at the various contestants.

Out of curiosity, what settings are y'all running on? I assume high/ultra, but just to be sure.

Most are on High/Ultra. They can run anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on the people that show up. We want to make sure to give every costume a fair shot. 🙂

Just to clarify.  The costume GM_Miss has in the video at the end would not qualify because it has purple.  Correct?

It may be a result of nighttime coloring, it looks like the hat, belt and inside of the coattail are violet

Its the shadows - everything is black white and gray or I wouldn't have posted it. lol 😛

Based solely on the turnouts on Everlasting, and the duration of the contests, I don't think the GMs have enough time to read character descriptions.  Although, it certainly wouldn't hurt your chances any.

On Excelsior they lined the Plaza from the pergola all the way to the buidling.

Can't believe I missed this! I had the perfect costume and everything... but spent the day watching Studio Ghibli movies!  Well, there's worse ways to spend my time. 🙂 Looks like everyone had fun! Excellent!
