You will see everyone with your graphics settings so they are on an equal playing field as far as that goes.

It would be based on your judgement, so you would bring your own bias too it as well. Everyone does that hosts a contest.

You aren't being judgemental of anyone. You are just picking what you think to be great costumes regardless of what makes you think a costume is cool.

I've been in costume contests and won. I've been in more where I lost. Sometimes the person running the contest give some influence to everyone that participates. Some do top 3 or 5. Some do the top 7 and invite winners to their team and transfer loot that way to make it easy.

People like to participate in costume contests even when they lose ... well, at least I do.

No, it's not at all an equal field. I get that it's subjective. But you did bring up a possibility: everyone gets a trophy! Except folks with gross character names. References to gross bodily functions should probably not be rewarded. I much prefer avatar names that use alliteration, like my own "Massive Man", who is as tiny as I could make him, who also boasts TW powerset. A shame that the weapon scaled down with the avatar, but I understand why.

I agree wholeheartedly.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

I thought there were only 666 and that the other 333 were justifiable reasons to spend influence.

Why do folks feel this compulsive need to brag about how wealthy they are like it's a problem?

Are you kidding me?  Do you have any idea how *difficult* it is to give away vast amounts of inf?  Especially when we *literally* tell people exactly how to get all the inf they need, and we give them a fishing pole, and a starter fish?

The problem, as far as I see it, is that I enjoy using my brain to accumulate vast amounts of an imaginary item.  I'm working on that.

New inf sink: Fishing Mini-Game.  Can be located on the Talos boardwalk.  Could have tournaments and records, and think of all the lies to be told...

Damnit, Lusca! You're not even supposed to BE in this zone!

How would one do a scavenger hunt? Not like I can leave a hero pack on the ground somewhere?

Paragon City Search And Rescue used to do Easter Egg hunts.  We would each dress up in a mono-color (or gradient) costume with a round helmet and hide throughout a zone.  The first hunter to walk up to you and talk to you found that egg.  We would then following them back to the gathering point for screenshots and handing out prizes.

Obviously, though, this requires a group of people.

...no? Stand in Atlas, say "I have 2 billion inf to give away," and then do so.

As far back as I remember, Yomo has been giving away vast amounts of influence. Either through well-thought out, self funded events or as explicitly as possible (notice their signature about FREEMONEY?). If anyone has backed up their financial prowess claims with action, it is Yomo.

There was a bug, fixed fairly quickly after the release of the Titan Weapons powerset, where the weapons didn't scale to the character, which fo a time allowed small characters to wield absurdly big weapons.

If the issues with glamourizing "the G-word" ( https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/17370-gambling/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-395752 ) weren't so pressing, I'd suggest the Devs implement something akin to  https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/15702-monkey-fight-club-its-not-a-secret-anymore/ in an official capacity.

In the absence of the in-game casinos having functional games of chance tied strictly to Inf, fishing almost sounds like a fun idea.  On top of that, maybe finally get that Hellion Golf thing officiated, and make it so the best set of golf clubs cost upwards of 500,000,000 Inf.  https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/16366-is-atlas-park-hellion-golf-still-possible/  Of course, -everyone- should have access to fishing and golf, not just the ultra wealthy.  I'm just suggesting that there are plenty of places we can charge the notoriously rich for minor luxuries.

Mobile browser forums don't include signatures. In the light of this new information, I'm even less concerned about the plight of the sad haves and the crushing weight of their own wealth. Go to space and measure your inf-peen with the cosmos (generally speaking, not to any one person in particular, other than Jeffrey).

On a grand scale, you're right about that. And he doesn't care who gets it, either.

I'm a lot more discriminating. I have no beef in handing out a tidy sum to someone who's got a clever name or a funny bio. But I'm not gonna hand out inf to anyone who asks for it. The idea of the gift needs to come from me, or it's not really a cheerful gift. I prefer to monitor the help channel and gift folks who are asking questions that show they are trying to figure things out beyond just blind button mashing.

Giving in this game can be difficult, too! I was giving away hero/villain packs yesterday. People keep moving away! You try to chase them down, and they zone out.
I gave away a glad armor 3%, panacea +HP/End, and Shield Wall 5% to a number of players a couple of months ago. A billion inf worth. And it took me forever, because folks are rarely stationary. (not paper, pun lovers. Stationary as in standing still) And the ones that are - Spines/fire brutes who certainly don't need influence, level 50's that ...I have no idea what they're doing standing on the ledge in front of Ms. Liberty, but I check their build info and they're already kitted out, so no need to gift those folks.

god, I miss doing that. I was rich as hell on live.

"Hello, lowbie! I give you the gift... of inf"

I'll get there again! I just need to keep accumulating and converting those reward merits.

Wow I wish I could sell you transcendents for a billion a pop. I compulsively hoard mine and never use them to craft incarnate stuff. I multibox farm tinpex and DA arcs for that. Most of my 120+ toons have 400 or more emps stored, and my emp farming toons have a large multiple of that.

This is my preferred method of giving.  I also hand out Performance Shifter and Miracle procs.  The train station in Talos is the perfect spot.  Level 20 somethings passing through, or standing by the Merit Vendor or SG base or Citadel. A quick look at their powers lets you know if they have IOs.  It takes a couple seconds to throw a couple IOs their way.  Some don't even notice, which is fine by me.
