... but I woke up in the Broken Lands. So, yeah, getting the anniversary badge on various alts. (Think I only have 80 or so to go...) One logged out in Siren's. And ended up here. I was *really* tempted to /respec to grab fly just to move around more :D So if anyone ever asks what it looks like from the *other* side of the war walls, well....

WIth a couple of basic questions asked by the OP, I'd suggest they head to the top of the forum, click on "More" and bookmark both wikis - the unofficial homecoming wiki being the updated one for here, obviously. They'll serve you in good stead.

Not sure which zones you're seeing not get invasions. Atlas and Mercy won't, because they're starter zones and specifically excluded. Also, frankly, as far as ignoring invasion events? Not having enough interested people, not wanting to deal with them (some invasions I don't want to bother logging on even. Tell me it's a Nemesis invasion, and ... ugh. Zombies lead to burnout quickly. Even Rikti get tiresome.) Or people just doing other things - if an MSR or hami raid's on, or there are itrials going on, that has peoples' attention. As far as distance from the player? Not everyone has a great connection (or PC.) That distance gives some degree of safety and reaction time. (Plus, of course, they're not *supposed* to spawn - at least with Rikti, not sure about the others - if you're "under some sort of cover.") I'd much rather *not* be spawn-ganked by something showing up right on top of me. ANd if you're in a group, well, it gives room for the players to be *in* a group.

While there, do the tutorial *at* The university to get an introduction to the enhancement system. (And a generic Accuracy IO at the end of it.)

... have you done the RWZ arcs? All of them? Just that this would kind of be counter to any and all peace efforts, lore-wise. And instead of defeating and pushing back the Lineage of War (and letting the truth about what happened spread,) you'd basically be justifying a larger invasion, essentially shooting all your efforts through the Vanguard arcs in the foot.

Sorting Options on Character Select Screen
Greycat replied to Tacheyon's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Many different schemes have been asked for before. Still all *for* more sorting options. -
Just a simple no, thanks. I could see that getting *really* annoying when actually trying to run the missions in the zone. (Or take part in events - taking a team there to trick or treat is fun. Under perma-invasion? No freaking thanks.)
-
Well, no, Trip mine is not necessarily - it's just the only way most people can *use* it at the speed of current teams. Solo, you can set up all sorts of shenanigans (that Hero One/vaptain whatserface, for instance, gives *plenty* of options for preemptive trip mining - like for every Rikti ambush except the first (watch your text,) and of course the portals can be pre-mined. But chances for that are few and far between - and yes, minefield setup takes *time.* Time bomb is just hot garbage. Heck, replace Time Bomb with Minefield, which sets some number of Trip Mines in a placed area. More / bigger ones if you have it *and* Trip Mine.

Updating inherent descriptions to be gender neutral please?
Greycat replied to Zappalina's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, I'm used to thinking of they/them as being a default "we don't know who this person will be" pronoun. I wouldn't argue with seeing it changed. But... yeah, kind of low priority overall. (Given the code, it might start making things explode.) Honestly, if we had staff/time, I'd like to see all *sorts* of presuppositions fixed, like the Dark powersets' power coming from "the netherworld," other than the Epic ATs which are designed to be tied to a greater backstory. -
For the other question, yes, I was able to find the COH comics ... fairly recently online. http://www.cityofheroes.ca/media-and-downloads/comic-archive/

It's live.

How often do you *need* to get most of a team, though? That's the thing I see in a lot of these conversations - throwing buffs on people that don't need it and then saying it's hard to keep it up. Be picky and deliberate with your buffs.
-
I don't think CM needs a boost. What I *would* like to see is that if a fallen team/leaguemate gets a rez cast on them and it times out or they don't accept, it recharges much faster.

Except that Comm officers, for instance, are already more rewarding than normal enemies and you *can* interrupt their summon.
-
For most NPCs that summon something (Raider Engineers, Comm officers, etc.) if you hit them while they're summoning - or hit them with a DOT before they can - their summons will fail. This doesn't seem to be the case with Death Shamans. Since I'm on a dark/dark Corr while I'm playing this (part of why this is annoying, with dark being resisted,) opening up with Nightfall (cone DOT) on an unaware Shaman will let him turn, start the animation and summon - even while taking DOT that would interrupt another summoning NPC. Can we get their summon added to the "interruptable" list? Their summoned zombies already don't give XP.

How many Respecs do you use to get the build just right?
Greycat replied to FullEclipse's topic in General Discussion
Zero. Sometimes one. *edit: Not counting the forced VEAT respec, but I don't play many VEATs. I level my characters "organically," I don't tend to plan them, and unless something's particularly bothering me, I consider their power choices part of their story. I'll also use secondary builds, depending on if they need it for whatever reason . -
Well, we already have bonus *damage* versus some types of enemies (Ghost slaying axe vs ghosts, short circuit vs robots,) I'd think (hope?) this could be an extension of that.
-
... given I have a character that's from an (in universe, lore-wise) video game running around in COH, I could see use for this. Though I'd want an FX option that actually did show "Bang!" and the like on occasion.

1. SGs are social constructs. SGs are RP hubs. SGs are utility centers. There are several points where an SG may be more desirable than just a "personal base." 2. Better to ask in Excelsior's forum, down a ways. 3. Base raids were killed on live. No plans announced to bring them back. (Especially with all the things that can be done with bases now.) 4. I'm an RPer. I've got multiple SGs I'm in because of it, as well as my "Catchall" for alts. And I have a lot of alts. 5. Depends on what you mean by "top SG." Does the most raiding? Biggest base? Longest name? Most involved with RP? Farms everyone? Live rated them (as I recall) by Prestige earned, which really didn't mean the SG was any *good,* just that it had people farming prestige. Be specific with what you're looking for, then ask around (again) in your server's forum. Or team a lot, see who you like teaming with, see if their SG has a spot open.

Only because I *literally* just moved into the place on the 1st... and the PC was set up a few days after that.

I have Fraps somewhere. Alternately, /demorecord, /demostop, link the various ones together into one big demo... if that's not broken again.

Is there a way to turn up just the sound of glowies?
Greycat replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
There's also an alternate sound in COHModder, not sure if it'll help or not. -
Getting sorted after a move. Down to one bigger screen and I'm not complaining. Ryzen 7 3700 Geforce GTX1080 (was going to be upgraded with this gen of cards, but... ha, yeah, right. Maybe next year.) 32 Gb RAM Gobs of storage.
