TALK to your teammates before you start running content with them. Come to a consensus on how each member will conduct themselves, or simply solo content...

I played around with the various "path auras", but couldn't find one that is a neat clean circle. The "seismic" option makes a fairly neat circular cracked effect centered around your character, so maybe give that a try...

One issue is how certain travel or regular powers would interact while underwater - Champions Online basically forced every travel power into some form of "flight", and ignored all other powers - so fire and electricity still behaved normally, etc. If our powers were left unchanged while under water, then besides a graphical difference, what would be the point? I mean, would you just want to see a screen-wide rippling/blur effect? Perhaps some bubbles rising around you? What kind of changes would you expect while under water?

I wonder how much of that was the "petless mastermind" part, though...

Acrobatics offers mag 2 hold protection. How useful is that?
biostem replied to EnjoyTheJourney's topic in General Discussion
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought players had an inherent mag 1 protection, so the 2 from acrobatics would mean that an enemy would need to land 2 standard holds in order for them to affect you, (working on my understanding that the mag of a mez effect must exceed the mag of any protection that you have, in order for it to take effect)... -
Plant manipulation has the "toxins" power, which adds toxic damage to all your attacks. If you're rolling a defender or corruptor, you can take the poison set, which while needing love, fits the theme. I'm all for more options, but in the short term, recoloring fire blast or water blast are probably your best options. Heck, the -def of radiation blast could be explained as your acid deteriorating your enemy's defenses, or even beam rifle could be explained as some sort of "toxo-blaster" via the disintegration effect...

My take-away from the Lightyear movie is that it is the movie or TV show, which inspired a children's cartoon, which in turn the toy from Toy Story is based upon. So think of it like the 80s Ghostbusters toys were chiefly based upon the Real Ghostbusters cartoon, which were loosely based upon the live action movie...

I'd say no more than a 3-5 second phase or capped defense for a very short duration. Another idea would be the temporary pet that taunts enemies and you give off a weak placate as well...

I would think an AR or Beam Rifle/Ninjitsu Blaster would work best - you get gun attacks, sword attacks, and can dip into fighting for bare-handed combat. You also get the wrist dart, which is similar to what some Vahzilok and Knives of Artemis use. You could also delve into Sorcery or Force of Will, if you want to add a few non-weapon ranged attacks to your repertoire...

I wonder if Infiltration could be given the Mystic Flight or Experimentation SS treatment, and given a sub-power - maybe something like a very short-range teleport or a decoy power, where you deploy a duplicate or some other object/device, that distracts enemies, (make it unslottable and on a long cooldown)...

Champions Online couldn't pull off wall-clinging, and their swinging powers basically use "magic skyhooks". DCUO has a clinging power of sorts, but it gets very quirky with how some surfaces have tons of minute details that make you rapidly change direction and angle. I just don't see such a power coming to CoH. That being said, I would love to see something like a permanent and enhanceable version of the jump pack or steam jump powers. I'd also love to see some sort of double-jump power. I also wonder if some of the tech wing options with jetpacks could be modified so we can only have the jetpack part of it, without said wings. I also wonder if we could get something like the flying disc power as a flight variant - perhaps where it simply looks like we are running in the air on some sort of magical or technological sigil/element.

Lifestyles of the Rich and (In)Famous - what would you do?
biostem replied to ThaOGDreamWeaver's topic in Off-Topic
The real world doesn't work like movies or video games - trying to build a lair or actually engage in superheroism/villainy wouldn't last too long. You'd be far better off trying to start a charity that could both help people and keep your memory "alive" after you no longer are, or create a product line that is extremely exploitative but nevertheless sells really well, (if you want to be villainous). If we're talking about a scenario where things are a bit more fantastical, then what I'd want to do is to create some sort of powersuit/life sustaining tech for myself, and I'd sell/give away less powerful versions of it to help the crippled/paralyzed and/or supplement construction workers, etc. I'd probably avoid directly producing military products, and create a fairly cohesive PR campaign talking about our "tremendous breakthroughs" that allow a person to lift and move at a normal rate, (no overtly superhuman stuff). Realistically, though, I think I'd be too chicken to participate in the heroing directly - I'd probably stick to telepresence and/or drones instead. I've been rewatching "Thunderbirds are Go!" lately, and something like International Rescue would be really cool to implement as well... -

Bit of a tangent, but even if she was attending school in like the 70s or 80s, would a technopath still be really really useful? Doesn't make sense to me why she was sent to the sidekick track... -
So I did some testing, and it seems that when a character or enemy is under the effects of a buff or debuff, it plays an effect. I think it's tied to simply being under such an effect, and not the source of said effect. For instance, here is a low level of character of mine under the effects of a medium yellow insp, the P2W def/rec buff, and an enemy hit with a T1 Sentinel attack, which applies a dmg res debuff...

I think those fall under a separate thing, though. If I am wrong, please correct me, but I believe that whenever you are receiving a tohit buff, you get such an effect, like whenever you are slowed, a little effect plays around your feet. I think it would require an additional change beyond just changing leadership...
-
Are we talking about the glowie effect on your head, or the generic buff icons that display whenever someone is under the effect of a tohit buff, etc? I was under the impression that those buff effects are separate from the actual power, sort of like how hitting an enemy with an attack that debuffs them will show an animation on said enemy...

Are you excited about the future of the MCU?
biostem replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I should have been clearer - I meant "nearly useless" in terms of combat effectiveness. I mean, a mutant whose power is to mend small breaches in things could be really useful, especially if it worked on people too. Someone who could influence the production of lactic acid might have some really specific use somewhere, but they're not likely to be called to stop the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants... -

Y'know what'd be interesting - to see a movie that delves into a metahuman with a nearly useless power, but with an obvious visual difference, and have them trying to cope or fit in - but don't make it where all normal people are evil or mean - something like what the early days of quirks would have been like in My Hero Academia, or maybe a Morlocks movie... -

Are you excited about the future of the MCU?
biostem replied to DougGraves's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
I think, going forward, MCU writers need to avoid some of the plot elements that are now kind of cliche - no more "giant energy beams into the sky". No more evil copy of the hero. Let's instead, adopt the original evil overlord checklist and see some villainous competency. Events don't need to be extinction-level to be meaningful, and people don't need to act incompetently in order for the hero/villain to succeed or fail...
