  1. It's also one of the reasons that "PvP anywhere" is still a cylindrical metallic container full of of annelids even -if- it's easy to enable. Like, would people flag themselves for PvP in PvE zones just to get the PvP Set Bonuses? Would flagging yourself for PvP in a PvE Zone simply not activate the Bonuses? Is there a possible alternative? Questions that are unlikely to be answered any time soon. At least on Homecoming. . . . have any of the other servers out there enabled self-flagging PvP?
  2. Or, OR . . . and hear me out . . . You -sit- corrected! Wait. Shit. People can view these forums on their cell phones these days, right? CRAP! Abort! Abort! Potential pedantry failure detected!
  3. No, @cranebump. It's Impervium. Regarding the MediPort system, as I recall from a level 25'ish story arc, it wasn't for almost ten years before a public health care version was being introduced for the general population, and only for those who were at-risk (which, honestly, given Paragon City is . . . well, everyone! But the arc, if I recall correctly, suggests that they meant those with health issues and the elderly). Prior to 2012, only registered Heroes were able to use the MediPort system (officially and legally, anyway). But maybe I'm not remembering correctly. I tend to know the Redside lore more thoroughly.
  4. @BurtHutt . . . that typo at the end of your third sentence in the second post . . . Oof. Suppressing that laugh hurt. I think I sprained an internal muscle. Buuuuut . . . a Sidekick-(Hench)Pet System would be pretty awesome, but I'm not sure Pool Powers (Epic or otherwise) is necessarily the place for it. I'd suggest it as a whole independent system unto itself.
  5. Well, if Crey was involved, cloning sounds like the most plausible story.
  6. And now you've lost me. I don't like those animations either, but it wasn't stupidity that lead them to those decisions. That was calculated design, with an intent to appeal to a particular demographic. You, I, and other players might not -like- that decision, but it doesn't mean that it was made out of some lack of intelligence.
  7. The writing's been on the wall, lately, @Burnt Toast. While the Homecoming Team haven't said much, the people presumably in the closed beta are getting quite trolly as of late. Barring some complication, the posting habits of certain users indicate something is slated for announcement soon. Not, "Soon™" mind you, but legitimately soon.
  8. Right there beside you on that one, @Player2. I'd do bad, bad things to get a non-ridiculous set of animation options for Dual Pistols.
  9. Now we just need a super-powered despotic megalomaniac to seize control and institute sweeping societal changes- ... You know what, on second thought . . .
  10. And it has no affect on Everlasting. . . . 'cause everyone's already a cat-person here.
  11. I also enjoy getting the Psionic Damage Procs in Provoke, Intimidate, and Invoke Panic. Not for any kind of performance metric, of course, but just for the conceptual joy of being so cutting with one's insults that not only do they do emotional damage, but inflict tangible physical damage too!
  12. Oh, no no. This was one of the nice days where the fog was just (mostly) water vapour! And frankly, we have the pollution-stained skylines during the sunny days here. That's when it's the worst of both worlds!
  13. All the same . . . Provoke leads in to Intimidate, Invoke Panic, and Unrelenting. If you've got the room for it, or the theme, I recommend checking those Powers out! Yes, a To-Hit check on Provoke is decidedly inferior to the Autohit of Taunt, but sometimes small sacrifices must be made in favour of greater rewards later.
  14. My city was covered in fog, for the first time in several months. Honestly, I was just happy to not have the sun annihilating me with unshielded radiation for a change (and yes, this is hyperbole, but the sentiment remains true).
  15. I wonder if there's also some generational factors at play in this. While mostly anecdotal, I've seen behaviour which suggests to me that younger people these days are adapting to being more capable of "bigger picture empathy," possibly even thanks to having grown up so deeply entrenched in social media. I know old fogeys are likely to be quick to dismiss this, as it's tradition for an older generation to decry the perceived failures of younger ones ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD0x7ho_IYc ), claiming ye olde excuses of "in my day, we had conversations face to face!" . . . but frankly . . . the capacity of 20-somethings and teens to extend their "monkeysphere" beyond the 150 is something I feel confident in. Whether that's related to their neurochemistry, their access to technology, or their generally higher level of education (as I'm basing this on a perspective largely steeped in North American Privilege), I can't guess. Likely a combination of factors, as it is with most things.
  16. I'll also support efforts toward something along these lines, but will hazard that it could require a significant amount of work to "do it correctly." Like, whole-new-game-expansion amounts of work. And the Homecoming Team has demonstrated a dedication to the "do it correctly" mindset (notwithstanding whether one feels they've actually managed to pull that off or not). Not to get too horn-tooty, but I said a great deal on the subject back during: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19655-weekly-discussion-53-how-to-increase-villain-population Specifically: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19655-weekly-discussion-53-how-to-increase-villain-population/page/7/?tab=comments#comment-222758
  17. You're absolutely right, @MunkiLord. I've worked for some right sodding bell-ends in this industry, and the sheer amount of disregard that people at, or near, the top have for those who are actually DOING THE WORK is inexcusably despicable. I just hope the spirit of the Rogue burns strongly in the hearts of the Homecoming Team, and that they won't let that worst case scenario come to pass. . . . but I already mentioned in this thread what's been happening to my idealistic optimism as of late . . .
  18. @krj12, you are not alone in your hopeful aspiration! Regrettably, as it stands, the version of the code which the Homecoming Team is working from can not be shared without rather severe risk of litigation. As we've seen (or at least inferred) from the decidedly limited information surrounding the rules related to no streaming or video uploading, there are things which the Homecoming Team are not expressly stating. This is very likely related to a non-disclosure agreement, ideally with ncsoft (or disturbingly unrelated to ncsoft . . . we just don't -know-). However, as we've seen with new members being inducted in to the Homecoming Team, they -are- working on some things. I've made efforts to encourage as much disclosure related to their selection process, design philosophy, and intentions for the game . . . but the Team has been largely quiet on all of that as well. Something which is personally disconcerting. Frankly, I am confident that if the Homecoming Team gave some clear direction and delegated, then yes; we would absolutely be able to make immense strides in development as a collective community. If that's ever going to happen . . . I lose a little more hope every day. The best we have at our current disposal is to consult OuroDev or other sites where other versions of the source exist. It's even been implied that an early branch of I26 was leaked months ago, but as far as I'm personally aware, that could just be rumour-mongering. If you have the free time available to you, I strongly recommend getting as much learning from OuroDev as you can. Lard knows that if I wasn't involved in a protected series of very severe issues related to my current career, I'd be dedicating more time to chewing through that repository myself. Instead, when I get home from work, I barely have the mental and emotional wherewithal to even log in to -play- the game these days. But the short of it: Yes. Open source is an ideal worth striving for! It's unclear if the Homecoming Team agree, but that shouldn't stop you or any of us from picking up a copy of the source ourselves and trying to contribute. Maybe the work you do won't be accepted by Homecoming, and that's frustrating and demoralizing to be sure . . . but maybe one of the other servers will at least appreciate the work you do.
  19. Dang. Ok. That explains it. Phooey. Looks like you and I have several characters who would get along famously!
  20. . . . wait, which Shard are you on? How have I not run in to you? Or have I, and just terribly forgot?
  21. Could give Scrappers and Stalkers Surveillance instead.
  22. Yup! https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/22107-super-packs-lagging-horribly-when-opening
  23. Profit isn't the only reason to want to make the game more visible. For whatever reason, streaming is "the thing" right now, and the ideal means by which Homecoming could increase its playerbase.
  24. You have to be flagged as a Vigilante, and any of the regular Pillars will do the trick. Level Range of 25+
