If you could radically overhaul 1 thing....
FoulVileTerror replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
My laundry list of ideas is a bit too long to get in to, though if I had to choose just one . . . It would be to implement an alternative or three to the damage-as-only-means-of-progress meta. The key one being a Resolve mechanic. Essentially a different form of "HP" that is decreased with Controls and Debuffs, which would cause enemies to surrender when depleted. It would be slower than DPS'ing things, but would offer rewards in the form of granting Reputation with factions and various NPCs, in addition to the usual Experience and Inf. It would also provide significantly more roleplay potential. All the tech's already here, honestly. By the time the Legacy Devs implemented the "NPC drops to a knee and becomes non-hostile, clickable, and chattable" code, this dream could become a reality. Of course . . . it would just take an amount of work that would require a whole professional team and months, or maybe even years of time. Part of why I'd like to see the development changes I keep harping on and on about regarding work delegation and clearly established design documents. If not for my dream, then for any of the other ambitious projects which are technically possible, but just need the oversight to become feasible. -
If you'd like assistance earning some of these for yourself, @PluckySidekick, I'd be happy to help. My main account in-game is @VileTerror

Just now on Everlasting General Chat, we were discussing the lack of Badge for defeating Luddites, and spitballed some ideas. "Snuffer" was brought up from the old City of Villains Beta, but that one was declined back then for pretty obvious reasons. "Technophile" and "Extinguisher" as well, although it was said that those already exist for other Badges. Someone said "Technophobephobe," which I thought was hilarious in a special way. But then Umbral Blaze suggested something perfect: Torch Breaker So! What do you folks think? Defeat 25 Luddite Torchbearers, and get yourself a shiny defeat Badge?

Electrical Affinity and Traps. While not "100% persistent," the cooldowns on their Control Protection Powers is low enough to get consistent performance out of them.

Who was it that did the math on the Mecenaries' damage output? Could someone do a comparison if we added an extra Soldier? Would that improve the ranking of the Set, or would it still be at the bottom compared to other Mastermind Primaries? How much +Dam would the Medic have to give in a Combat Serum to elevate the Set to midling compared to the other Sets? Also, I was thinking about the potential argument against allowing Mercenaries to have 7 Henchpets for Bodyguard as opposed to the usual 6 . . . but that only translates to a Resistance improvement of 2.7_%. That couldn't possibly be cause not to permit it, ney?

Yeah, and I've only been married once, and am still married to that same person. It's a little funny to me, honestly, in a slightly sad way: Other than a few roleplayers and the Pride community, I've not really come across many of the players from my Legacy days. And other than the person who informed me of the initial SCoRE leak and played on Homecoming for about two months then disappeared, I've not run in to much of any of the people who were a part of my core play group or intimate connections. But I've made new connections and relations, so it's all fine. Get a little nostalgic from time to time, but enjoying myself with new folks is wonderful too!

I think the Amplifiers are a huge boon for non-Get-To-50 players. After all: The objective of the game isn't to get to 50. It's to enjoy yourself (while doing no harm to others, of course). To that end, the Amplifiers might not be useful to the level 50 crowd, but that doesn't diminish their purpose or importance to all the other players.

Eco-Friendly Powerset Recycling!
FoulVileTerror replied to Alchemystic's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Actually, probably super-easy. Barely an inconvenience. Make all the Powers summon Pseudo-Pets which act similarly the Trip Mine Power, but their Self Destruct Proc is flagged as requiring a secondary Trigger, which would be delivered by the Player's "Remote Detonate" Power. I'll keep that in mind as a variant if the Standard Load / High Explosive idea I'm working on right now ends up being super unpopular.- 792 replies

Telling who has been active in months?
FoulVileTerror replied to aeb's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I used to do what @Zepp suggests way back during Legacy when the limit on the Global Friend list was lower. Maybe two or three people ever came back and got in touch, out of . . . god, can't even remember. Most of the players on my list outlasted me, though. I threw in the towel somewhere between 2009 and 2010. Basically right before Going Rogue was released, whenever that was. 'course, back then, I think Global Emails weren't a thing yet, so I was doing it through offline Global Tells which are notoriously less reliable when it comes to reaching their destination. Now with unlimited free accounts, though, I can organize Global Friends by priority on multiple accounts. My main account has 'em all, but one or two other accounts of mine have a redundancy, or -all- of my other accounts if it's someone I really like. So, if I ever get to the point of needing to cull again, I'll have back-ups in case those players return. It may also be worth bearing in mind that many players on your list may be operating in Global Hidden mode, for whatever reasons. I have a few people on my list who are perma-hidden, and will only chat with the players who they want to during a given play session. -
Pay2Win - Skip Levels - Infamy Sink
FoulVileTerror replied to Taboo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Or! Or! Or! The cost-per-level is 20% of all Inf earnt, plus 10% of all Inf collected from the market, plus 2x the excess Exp from the Boosters, collectively from all characters from any accounts played on a shared IP Address, MAC Address, and system hardware profile. WITH the requirement of the Accomplishment Badges on at least one of the characters on the specific account buying Levels. -
Had a massive old post queued up that I had been working on for days. Dragged my mouse slightly while right-clicking. My browser's "convenience features" assumed that meant I wanted to navigate back three pages . . . . . . . . . . . . yeah.

In regard to "must be over a thousand" . . . there are just over 2,000 combinations of Primaries and Secondaries for all Archetypes. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19712-should-i-continue-the-archetype-challenge/?tab=comments#comment-222366 Soon to be more, if the rumours about a new Sonic Set for Blasters is true.

And I can scarcely imagine how the Pets and Henches operate during base raids. Pathing for AI in bases is a nightmare on a good day.

Fletcher? Hmm, that's taken already . . . Pluck Yew? Ah! That one's free at time of posting this. Straight Shot? Also free right now.

Sorry. Upon reflection, I realize my post was probably less-than-helpful. While, yes, as @Zeraphia says, there's a call for outer space and similar themes to get some representation . . . ALSO as Zeraphia says (paraphrased); it's off-topic. So, apologies for that tangent. Water-wise . . . hmm, there's a lot that could be done. Honestly, depending on how well its implemented, it could even be far more interesting that outer space. After all, marine biologists love to say that we know more about outer space than our own oceans, heh. Just imagine what be'tentacled horrors we could conjure up in BOTH settings! Oo! OO!!! War of the Tentacles! The Tentacles from Outer Space attack our world, forcing the Tentacles From Below to rise up and strike back! . . . Has anyone made that movie yet? Someone needs to make that movie! I feel like it would probably be an anime . . .

Eco-Friendly Powerset Recycling!
FoulVileTerror replied to Alchemystic's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ah, yes, but then the Powers wouldn't be quite balanced to existing Sets. I'm trying to write up stats for Tactical Grenade which are largely based around the regular Control Sets' highs and lows, but while still trying to keep something unique and fresh in the mechanics for those players who don't play this game for anything other than just a combat simulator. You know the type; people who think it would be pointless to have two different Sets with the same damage type available to a single Archetype, regardless of the themes and animations. I may not be able to understand those people's perspective, but I'll still try my best to ensure the work I do is inclusive to them.- 792 replies

Eco-Friendly Powerset Recycling!
FoulVileTerror replied to Alchemystic's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Quite fair, Tyrannical. Especially since it seems to have migrated to the phase of arguing over what people said, intended to say, and what other people's interpretations of those are. SO! Work on the Tactical Grenade Set is moving slowly, I must regretfully admit, since I'm still overwhelmed with day-to-day awfulness at work . . . But is there anyone else out there working on any of Tyrannical's other low-hanging fruit Sets? I think it would be awesome if someone takes a stab at another Naturla-friendly Control Set, in particular.- 792 replies

Is work on page 6 ongoing or stalled?
FoulVileTerror replied to aethereal's topic in Open Beta Testing
I wish I knew. The most we got was from Jimmy a little while back: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/19111-is-work-on-page-6-ongoing-or-stalled/page/5/?tab=comments#comment-241660 -
Thanks to her weekly pilates session.

Heck, running Summer Blockbuster is worth roughly 8 million Inf last time I checked, and that's available at level 15, takes less than 15 minutes to complete, and is infinitely repeatable.

September Magic Themed Costume Contest!
FoulVileTerror replied to GM Miss's topic in Events & Contests
Basically it's hacking your client so that you can use Paragon Chat/Icon-style costumes on Homecoming. It's frowned upon to the point that repeat offenders might have their accounts actioned with a suspension or ban . . . or so I've been told. A previous official monthly costume contest winner was found to have used such a manipulation to get Arachnoid claws on their back. They had their win revoked.
