Pugging does allow you the opportunity to find a really good player from time to time. That said the majority of pugs have some really interesting players on them. I'll even occasionally invite ppl that I'm pugging with to my discord so we can shoot the shit as we play, it allows for some interesting gaming where more often than not I get someone asking build theory questions that give me a new idea for a toon.

Clarion's Radial is a great piece for that puzzle as well if the person can live with 90 seconds as opposed to 120, and doesn't need barrier or ageless. I like stacking clarion with power boost/power buildup depending on the toon. Also works great for Empathy's Recovery/Regen Aura. Otherwise I haven't tried it but I bet you could get Irradiate on a Defender depending on slotting to get up to 50-75% defense Debuff with power boost, before Debuff resistance unfortunately I don't have mids available at work so I am just guessing as I'm pretty sure the base def Debuff on irradiate is like ~21% before any enhancements.

My main on live was an EMP/energy Defender. Empathy is great and all but energy blast kinda meh. If I had to remake an empathy defender my secondary choice would come down to the following: Fire, it has DoT's so from a greedy standpoint I could use for Kill Stealing my friends. Sonic, you have -res debuffs, which can be helpful for a team especially considering defender buff/Debuff modifiers. Rad Blast, -Def in attacks and can slot Achilles, irradiated can take a fury proc, and annihilation procs in neutron Bomb. So you can stack up to three sources of -res on a target plus all the -Def. Electron haze also can take a force feedback proc plus gives you more mitigation. I personally like rad blast like 10x more than Sonic as well. Dark Blast, obviously THD with defender buff/Debuff values is huge. Dark pit kinda sucks is the worst power in the set, life drain although great for dealing damage, the heal isn't really needed as an empath. Also you have 3 cones to work with. As such I usually use this set with other pairings. Realistically I'd probably go /rad.

If you take alpha agility you nerf your own proc chance. You'll want to achieve your recharge need without crippling your damage output.

Who plays CoX in the most unusual way?
SeraphimKensai replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Whirlwind used to be the best power for n the game when it cancelled animations. It's still pretty good with procd force feedback and sudden deceleration procs, albeit pretty ridiculously high in end cost at base 0.65/sec. -
I have an alt named Mediocre Man just for fighting with brawl, pool powers, and temps. So slotting ATO's in brawl and rest sound great.

Change the attack button color.
SeraphimKensai replied to captainstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Incidentally I also used to use custom binds as an emp for PvP to control teammate targeting for fort buffs/cm/ab/heals. This is several years before I found your book on binds and macros, which honestly should have a sticky somewhere on the forums for people to reference as it's depth is unmatched. -
Change the attack button color.

That's literally the only way I can stand to play MM's. -
The best use case for foldspace as a scrapper I think is with Dark Melee to maximize Soul Drain and Dark Consumption, or for Bio Armor pbaoe based click powers as well.

Electrical Blast / Electricity Manipulation Blaster
SeraphimKensai replied to Small Onez's topic in Blaster
This should probably be moved to the blaster subforum. That said elec/elec was my first toon that made it to lvl 14. Way back then in the CoH Beta the struggle was real. Now a days it's a lot easier to increase your survivability and manage endurance. You can even use the new endmod IO sets that also do damage to slot for damage and end mod. That said for soloing an AV, you can if you build for survivability, sap your target, have degenerative -hp, and envenomed daggers, you shouldn't have much issue on even con. -
Res sets on a tanker have a hard cap at 90%. Def sets still softcap at the same values for all AT's, it's just easier to get there. Regen based sets can be great, when paired with the above for layering especially defense. There's not much that can kill a well built tank outside of serious debuffs.

Would I be better off transferring to a US server?
SeraphimKensai replied to Mnemonic's topic in Reunion (EU)
You could. Or you could always try and give the invention origin system a shot. It seems daunting at first, but you can use MidsReborn to make builds offline, and the test server to test builds for free before you invest the influence for them on the actual servers. Once you find a build you like you can work on gearing towards it and still play on random pugs. I do that quite a bit, but all my toons are typically fully IO'd before I really play them as I enjoy making and trying out builds. -
There's no way a sequel doesn't get green lit. The movie would have to literally tank, and early numbers show the complete opposite of that. It's a great film. I want them to go.full on Peter Jackson style LOTR with this movie and sequels covering the rest of Frank Herbert's Dune Novels.

I didn't look too much into the build but I did notice that you put the panacea proc in revive. You'll want that in either health or fast healing depending on if your want to chase a set bonus as in revive it will only proc when you use revive.

Marital Arts/Willpower scrapper is looking for help.
SeraphimKensai replied to Aquoia93's topic in Scrapper
You'll want to adjust your build.the biggest glaring issue is that you took indomitable will at lvl 47. You want that as early as you can take it as it's your mez protection. -
I have to assume this is meant as satire otherwise I need to go get another drink from the liquor cabinet.

I don't think we need these new inspirations. And here's my reasoning: Boost range inspirations, would allow people to stack range, and then just snipe Hami from safety. My guild used to do that way back in the day with centrioles and boost range, there's a reason that was changed, because it minimized all risk. Also in PvP, you'd no longer be able to out run the range of your opponent. Duration...thinking Tier 9s here. Do we just have people pop a pill and have Perma God mode? Also PvP mezes are precariously balanced around duration. Recharge...Same thing here, now Perma hasten is one inspiration away. Boost mag? Outside of trying to hold an AV with it's PToD's up, there's hardly anything outside of a raid that 2 applications of a mez won't hold. This suggestion would be a huge amount of power creep.

You could build a fire armor brute to do S/L just fine. Otherwise if you want a different armor, take a good look at Dark Armor or Rad Armor paired with Rad Melee.

I used to use an em/fa brute in i6 PvP when playing cov. It allowed for some truly devastating damage output.

Selling Enhancements/Recipes to Karsis
SeraphimKensai replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in Bug Reports
So upon additional testing, Karsis' store only becomes available if the player is actively on a Cavern of Transcendence Trial. However you are unable to sell enhancements/recipes. You can buy inspirations. Upon completion of the trial, the store is no longer accessible. Kinda odd. I tried several other contacts and their stores work as usual if they have them. -
Minor issue: After unlocking the Cavern of Transcendence Trial, I clicked on Karsis and went to his store. I tried to sell some junk enhancements and recipes to no avail. Even though the interface appears to allow you to, I was unable to actually sell the item. Buying inspirations works fine. I don't normally sell/buy at contacts, and usually just reload inspirations from my base autodoc and sell garbage there. I'm going to try a few other contacts to see if its more widespread, or just Karsis.

Insight needs to be reworked
SeraphimKensai replied to Without_Pause's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
In my variant, I didn't envision concentration losing any damage from it's effect. That said my proposed version of insight is a much better effect than a chance for a minor psionic dot effect on an attack. -

Insight needs to be reworked
SeraphimKensai replied to Without_Pause's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I agree that insight is pretty wonky in it's randomness. Also though Insight is a pretty weak effect overall, if I had my way I would change it up a to be like: Insight has a 10/20% chance per attack (longer recharging single targets get a 20% chance to trigger, whereas aoes and fast recharge attacks get a 10% chance). Insight now grants a 5% bonus to damage and tohitbuff. The effect lasts for 20 seconds and can stack up to 5x. Insight lockout occurs once achieving 5x stacks, and prevents new stacks until the 20 second expiration. The reasoning for this is that the effect is called Insight, so as you're fighting a target or group of targets over time you gain insight into their abilities and techniques, this allows you to find an opening on your opponent and hit harder as you learn their weaknesses. I left the lockout in because if you hit someone in the head with a hook, they are going to start blocking up high, which then leaves you the opportunity to learn the new weakness when insight's lockout expires down by their kidneys. And I agree that concentration should give you a 5x stack of Insight. -
Its hard to talk about Vigilence.
SeraphimKensai replied to kelika2's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The 30% is great solo. However if I'm playing a fairly offensive based defender I'm hesitant to team as each person on the team debuffs me, so I want them to be able to carry their own weight. I'd be really cool with them getting rid of the scaling teammate based nerf.
