  1. I'm going to start off by saying I haven't tried any of these combos yet, but here are my thoughts on the primaries as a whole. I'm pretty sure that (numerically) the only (de)buff set that is better on a corr than a defender is Storm, and that is primarily because Storm deals with extra damage nicely. The extra strength from the debuffs on a defender make Dark Miasma a very powerful contender. Between Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare you can get even level mobs on the to-hit floor. Throw in Dark Servant and you've got a lot to help with higher level enemies as well. Although you can't ever "have too much defense debuffs" there is a limit in most of the game. the cap for to-hit is 95%, regardless of how much defense debuffs you have stacked or how much to-hit you have added to it, you always have a 5% chance to miss. The extra defense debuffs are still going to be nice on enemies that have some base defense. Rad also has Accelerate Metabolism (available very early) which will help your endurance recovery. Rad was probably the best (de)buffing set early in the game's history, but sets like Time and the change to buffs making ST buffs AoE make it a more even playing field. It's still a very strong set though. Time is such a good set... I really agree with the concept of stacking the PBAoE Debuff with the seismic tremors (or whatever they're called). Time has the advantage over the other sets in that it has a very good self +defense skill, meaning it is easier to cap defenses.
  2. I like it. On live I had bind files for each shard I played on for each hero and villain. with 1000 character slots, I now only play on everlasting, but I can see the use of this.
  3. I've got a couple of Dual Pistol Defenders, it's a great set. Most of the time I stay in incendiary ammo, but if you want extra debuffs, then the -dam in Chemical is really nice. I'd think it would work well paired with Sonic Resonance for extra damage mitigation.
  4. just checked on Brainstorm, it does indeed proc from just Phantom Army.
  5. I'm totally against this for the simple reason that it plays toward a meta of "You should only be using Plasmatic because its the best" and also "Anyone using Concussive gets kicked"
  6. I'm sad that this thread didn't get any comments, as I'm now thinking about a Fire/TA but am having trouble with a build as well. I would go with Poison Gas Arrow over Smoke, the to-hit debuff in Smoke is resistable so it doesn't really do a whole lot of good. for Bonfire, I'd slot an Overwhelming Force Damage/Knockback-to-Knockdown instead of Sudden Acceleration for MOAR Damage Flash Arrow is auto-hit in PvE, so no need to slot accuracy in there. so, with those changes, the build would look more like this.
  7. I can't tell if you're serious or not, but it would be highly amusing.
  8. Both gravity and electric rely on knock for control... I don't see how adding -knock to them would be helpful.
  9. No... Shhh! They're on to you
  10. I'm going to *still* have to disagree with these ideas...
  11. I'm late to the party... I give you my Illusion/TA build, with flash arrow's unresistable portion, capped S/L/E/N/Ranged defense, perma-PA, etc.
  12. I give you... O K Boomer A Sonic/Beam defender who is a rogue Goldbricker gone hero. (This concept is even older than the ASF!) Very solid resists. I guess the only thing not entirely in concept is Mu mastery, but I wanted the extra S/L/E resist and Power Sink helps tremendously with the end usage.
  13. I'm not going to be helpful here... Pick whatever primary sounds fun; pair it with whatever secondary sounds fun. The great thing about defenders as opposed to tanks/scrapers/brutes is that play style can be completely different. Electrical Affinity is an awesome set, but like kinetics, it can be very clicky. Dark is less clicky, but it has no end recovery, so it can seem a little end heavy. It is a beast of a power set though. One of my favorite defenders of all time is my Trick Arrow/Archery/Power

    Illu/?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned storm yet. No -Regen but you put out enough extra damage and have enough -resist that it doesn't really matter.
  15. huh, for some reason I was thinking they changed it the other way (ie: redraw used to affect cast time but now it doesn't)
  16. I'm not against it, but just an FYI, the redraw time doesn't actually affect anything. Whether or not you redraw the weapon, the animation time is the same.
  17. I knew you could do it, but I've never understood exactly how it works. Thanks to you and Linea for this.
  18. Actually, Rooted still lowers movement speed inside Granite, just not outside of it.
  19. Well, if you ever exemplar below 27 you're going to not have mez protection. But if your plan is to never go out of granite, then *technically* you don't need rooted. I don't think I'd skip it though.
  20. /Dark or /Water are good. /Dark is particularly good because the tohit debuffs stack well with the resist buffs you give in Sonic Resonance. The reason I say /Dark and /Water is that both of these sets have a self heal.
  21. to end speculation
  22. Just my two cents Water spout is amusing as another havoc causing power. The entire reason my illusion/storm went leviathan was water spout. Coralax is ok, but definitely squishy. Psi tornado is NOTHING like tornado. It is purely a ranged aoe dot attack that has a knock up component at the beginning. Compare it to ball lightning or fireball or fissure, not tornado
  23. This topic amuses me.
