They'd be fools to tell you not to roll one. Archery, despite being all lethal damage, has super fast animations allowing you to leverage procs better than most anyone else. It also has a nuke that is up each fight. Tactical Arrow MIGHT be the best secondary if you intend to stay are range with its biggest competitor being Plant.

 

Well here's what I would go with, personally. I try to squeeze as much ranged defense into my builds as I can without sacrificing damage. Since I pretty much only play on teams and defense buffs are really common. So that last 9% to soft cap is going to be there most of the time. Glue Arrow doesn't do as much damage as what the program says it does. That's a bug. But if you load it up with procs it's a decent AOE with the added benefit of keeping enemies at range.

Looks like a very fun build & the ranged defense is super impressive.

Does the proc in Spiderlings activate in the summoning area?

My build's broken (mids update put unreplaceable raptor pack in TA's tier 2 and since the build's finished there's no point redoing it just to fix that) but I'd encourage you to try flame mastery though. The joy of bonfire and rain of arrows from out of line of sight is worth giving a shot at least on test.

I have a AR Tactical Arrow build. Again its the Basic Hover Blaster Range cap build. But I am soloing 4/8 on it.  

you can just swap out AR for Archery.

Just  a comment here-- I believe it's been confirmed that Rain of Arrows does not have near the accuracy that Mids/Pines implies and that if you do not slot accuracy in RoA you'll be disappointed in the damage. I know I was.

 

I find electrified net arrow handy for stacking immobilization on bosses, and you can also throw in the debilitative action chance for disorient as a way to stack with stunning shot-- and I think stunning shot is incredibly useful when soloing. 

 

edit-- here's the link on Rain of Arrows. It has base accuracy, no better unfortunately.

Recently been playing my Archery/Tac Arrow Blaster a lot.  Currently 45.  I have not bothered with set bonuses much, but I have frankenslotted the AoE powers for maximum damage and recharge, while getting some accuracy and end reduction to boot.

 

Not planning on soft-capping defense, as I have plenty of characters and it's kind of same-old, same-old to softcap everyone.  That said, I've also slotted up (and frankenslotted) the mez powers:  Ice Arrow (a hold), Stunning Shot (a disorient), ESD Arrow (an AoE hold), and from my ancillary, Shocking Bolt (a hold).  Also a little bit of slotting (frankenslotting for acc and slow) for Glue Arrow.

 

Aggressive employment of these control powers has been very effective in keeping my tender hide unruffled.  I can often hold an entire spawn, including two bosses (ESD Arrow, Ice Arrow, Shocking Bolt). 

 

But I generally can wipe out an entire spawn with Upshot, Aim, Rain of Arrows, Explosive Arrow (with the knockback-to-knockdown IO) so the holds and stun are usually insurance while teamed.

 

It's also hilarious, when soloing, to slow or immobilize something, run waaaay the heck outside its shooting range, and wait for the snipe (Ranged Shot) to reach noncombat damage bonus, then nail the completely helpless enemy.  In my late 30s/early 40s, I feasted on Greater Devoured and Fake Nemesis bosses using these tactics.

That's how i would build that because i don't like to depend on RNG to proc dmg.
Perma Hasten, cap S/L/E/N and Ranged def, 206,3% Recharge so you are free to pick whatever you want for your Incarnates.

Glue, Ice, Flash, ESD, Snap and Stunning arrows suck.  Skip.

 

Slot up Electrified Net arrow as a regular attack.  its energy damage will always come in handy.  This is one of my most used powers since I alternate it with every other attack.

 

Slap a Knockback to Knockdown Enhancement in Explosive Arrow.  I slot mine:  5/6 posi blast, skip dmg/range and 1 Overwhelming Force: KB to KD

 

Staying Natural?  Fighting and Munitions Mastery.  Body Armor is great to hold 3% def ios, 7.5% hp

I only agree that Stunning Arrow is easy to skip.  The others all have various uses and ESD is the opposite of suck.  Its over powered.

+1, ESD is the best opener for a blaster. ESD->Nuke->pew pew what's left.

This is what attuned enhancements are for.  I use attuned sets for my characters as much as possible to preserve the set bonuses when I run lower-level content.  Also, VR and PvP set bonuses still work at lower levels without attuning.

Found this thread and thought I would throw my build out there and ask a few questions.  My goals for the build are to soft-cap Ranged and S/L.  I am currently level 47.  In my initial build I took Assault and Victory Rush at 47 and 49 and I slotted Boxing with 5 slots of Superior Blistering Cold for the 5% S/L defense. 

 

I have been rethinking the build because I wanted more specialty arrow powers (otherwise why bother with TA?), so I dropped Assault and Victory Rush and took Flash Arrow and Glue Arrow in my updated build.  In order to soft-cap Ranged and S/L I needed to move some slots around, which impacted some other powers.  Is Glue Arrow worth it with only 2 slots?  Is 2 slows okay in this power?  I am assuming I won't need accuracy.

I have been rethinking the build because I wanted more specialty arrow powers (otherwise why bother with TA?), so I dropped Assault and Victory Rush and took Flash Arrow and Glue Arrow in my updated build.  In order to soft-cap Ranged and S/L I needed to move some slots around, which impacted some other powers.  Is Glue Arrow worth it with only 2 slots?  Is 2 slows okay in this power?  I am assuming I won't need accuracy.

ranged def cap, almost perma haste, more resist than you can shake a stick at! also  does great dps. I am not someone who has a whole lot to say at any given time but I do love to make builds and I do believe this one will serve anyone well.

With some of the ideas posted along with the new IOs I am looking to rework my build.  

Hover is great as it FORCES everyone to Range Positional Defense..  But I hate the element of having to hover, I would like to run around ETC.. 

But I wouldn't mind Hover when needed for other mission and TF needs. I have run out of jetpack before when I needed it.  Now I buy 2 different jet packs and keep one off the list until the other runs out.

 

When you have the timers listed on your powers and Bonfire kicks in you can see the number sometime jump.  Bonfire is a really good power. Just does a lot for you.  For me having full auto down to 14 seconds is nice. Getting it down a bit more when a proc kicks in is even better. 

 

But some really good ideas here..

I have tried and tried to like my Arch/TA Blaster. He's sitting at 50 and I just can't stand to play him. But looking at these posts has given me some ideas on how to upgrade him. He'll likely never be as good as my favorite Eng/Time Blaster or DP/SR Sentinel, but he deserves a chance to get better, and I should learn to play him better.
