Disable SG base passcode access in PvP zones
arcane replied to macskull's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I was listening to Death in June's Rose Clouds of Holocaust and Dead Can Dance's Garden of the Arcane Delights a lot one month basically. -

We've already memorized this narrative of yours like the back of our hands, thanks. Still just your opinions. -
Disable SG base passcode access in PvP zones

Nice necro. Good to know Bentley has been acting like PvP'ers are subhuman for a year or more lol. -
Switch "Echo" zones to free for all zones
arcane replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It’s obviously still something of a dilemma or else Bentley would have nobody to call a scumbag. -
Switch "Echo" zones to free for all zones
arcane replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Right, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re going to need to pick one. Vilifying PvP’ers isn’t going to change the fact that that’s the badgers’ dilemma to solve. -

If your playstyle mandates you get all badges, and some badges require consenting to PvP... I’d recommend either buckling up or rethinking your playstyle. -
Switch "Echo" zones to free for all zones
arcane replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah none of that is consistent with the GM’s definition of PvP. They’ve stated over and over that you consent to being a PvP target the moment you step into a PvP zone, read the dialogue box pop up, and choose to proceed in spite of the warning. We need to try to agree on basic definitions before just cutting right to insulting people. -
Switch "Echo" zones to free for all zones
arcane replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
PvP is any use of powers by a player against another player target in a PvP area. The player’s target consented to said PvP when they entered the zone or arena match. This has been established over and over whether you were listening or not. And, again, I don’t know of anyone who *only* engages with people that don’t fight back. I suspect those people don’t exist. As far as I know, ganker is just a belittling slur for PvP’er that is typically used by people that resent being attackable in certain zones. -
Switch "Echo" zones to free for all zones
arcane replied to Glacier Peak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Since launch I have never met a PvP’er who refused to target anyone but PvE’ers. I’ve met plenty that don’t discriminate at all when deciding who to PvP, but that’s obviously not a bad thing. Either way, none of it justifies calling your fellow players scumbags. And no the comment was not civil. -

Why don’t you really tell us what you think about PvP’ers instead of being so gracious and civil. -
Discussion: Disabling XP No Longer Increases Influence
arcane replied to Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
I, ofc, have no data. Only general ideas of what things used to cost vs now. Just pointing out that we have no real means of doing the full calculation. -

I still don’t understand how the significantly reduced sale price of recipes is being accounted for in the income comparison analysis. Although, I do understand that’s effectively mitigated by the reduced purchase price of items you actually need. Thanks for giving us some real data though. -
get to work

One of the most bizarre statements ever when you think about it. Let's think about some of the most "radical" changes for a second. Aggro caps. Enhancement diversification. HO's nerfed early on. Etc. etc. etc. Really???? We should just be able to opt in and out of all of these????? That's the most absurd assertion I've seen here in awhile unless you didn't mean what you just said. City of heroes has a tiny enough player base as is. Even if this came anywhere to close to being a good philosophy from a development perspective, we don't need the player base fractured any further if this is to remain a multiplayer game.

As someone who mained dark armor on live since i0, I'm generally not crazy about the idea of giving it a particularly powerful ability to solve all of its endurance problems. I'm the kind of person that thinks a powerful set having one or two major cons is not going to be the end of the world. That being said, I like the idea of putting it into oppressive gloom; at least that way you have to use both dark regeneration and oppressive gloom to get an ideal equilibrium, and oppressive gloom is something I'm normally reluctant to run because those tiny red numbers are a bit upsetting when it's doing almost nothing good. I don't really want dark regeneration changed. It's so immensely powerful that it deserves a real cost. And if a lower endurance cost were implemented and the heal per target were reduced to mitigate the reduced cost, the set might be harmed when fighting AV's, etc. Agree the two mez powers are pretty bad. Agree with making them better somehow. Agree with more -ToHit in Cloak of Fear.

I’m pretty sure any “for every foe near you” power is going to aggro foes. Not taunt them but still aggro them. Maybe I’m wrong.

I was referring to Noyjitat’s suggestion that multiple versions of zones be made. Something I vaguely remembered reading earlier but didn’t do a good job of referring to.
-
I don’t think playing different parts of the same game is quite comparable to requesting multiple versions of major mechanics for the same parts. PvP is the only example here where the mechanics change radically, and it’s been well documented what a tremendously detrimental idea that was. And managing multiple sets of mechanics at every level of gameplay soaks up dev time, so yes it would affect everyone.
-
I will say that this could arguably be balanced if you basically made skulls/hellions minions worth practically as much as underlings from a stronger enemy type and so on with xp scaling by difficulty across the board. That said, clear no vote due to reasons already detailed. Primarily because (1) that’s a ton of dev time better used in hundreds of other ways; (2) it would likely break the game in numerous ways; (3) just don’t like it. Also, people suggesting that we do things like this but make it optional by setting up different shards etc... all these opt-in and opt-out suggestions are getting out of hand. At the end of the day everyone needs to be playing the same game, and an elaborate multiverse of dramatically different mechanics by location just sounds like bad design. Heck, dramatically different mechanics already killed PvP on i13.

I would just recommend you try it all. Alts have never been easier to level and manage. I’m coming up on level 50 number 40, and I know that puts me well behind many people I play with.

Titan Weapons specifically needs a “Clunkiness” score so it can fail in a category.
