I don’t care much about the Lift/Propel side of Gravity. Wormhole is the defining power, followed by Dimension Shift, and both synergize better with things like patch powers. That’s why I think they fit better with controllers - specifically those with a debuff oriented secondary.

Well I for one am spamming acid arrow in AoE settings. Not sure how to process that being wrong when it feels so right. Mine is slotted 4 damage procs and 2 -res. My main TA atm, TA/beam has Vigor atm to justify filling a couple powers with only procs. The lack of a fire ball type power in the primary probably contributes to the usage of acid arrow instead. And I’m not sure how it plays out but I’m not convinced the -Special on new acid arrow isn’t also somehow worthwhile behind the scenes.

I can see being frustrated for Lockdown’s sake. I’ve never procced it due to long recharge making it such an occasional power. I always 5-6 proc Ice Arrow and Acid Arrow and by that time I need set bonuses from the rest of the set. Think I’ve always wound up with 5 Unbreakable Constraints. -

Weren’t glue arrow and EMP arrow the only ones to change? Glue arrow was never good at procs to my knowledge, and EMP arrow is probably location based AoE to give it more flexibility now that it’s also a buff power. Acid arrow and ice arrow were always the juiciest proc powers in the set and still are, IMO. -
Can we look at getting all the proc monster threads stickied/pinned? They’re easily the most valuable threads in the AT subforums IMO. EDIT: Also I think I just read Myshkin say Acid Arrow - the power that delivers 4-5 damage procs and/or 2 -res procs - is “skippable” now and I’m a little offended 🙂

Agree with reducing the animation time to make it combat viable. As for TP mag, I think we Wormhole users want all TP’s to pull +4 bosses, so I wouldn’t want this to be the only recipient of that piece of the deal. -
Considering people that call brutes useless would be unwise to play brutes and that’s apparently the mindset I’m arguing against... yes maybe I do. or what infinitum said lol

Well the shared experiences of every brute that actually plays the game instead of City of Pylon Testers, for starters. “A data point” (1) with no larger established testing methodology and with all the player’s build philosophy biases in play means absolutely zero.

Not what you’re asking for as a dominator, but I would like to once again rep the grav/traps concept build and reiterate just how satisfying it is to enter a +3x8 mission, lay out ~4 trip mines, whatever caltropses/mortars/traps come up while the mines recharge, and then wormhole to have the *entire* mob obliterated in a second. Even bosses yes. Time efficient for a team? No. As satisfying as concept builds get? Yes.

Well, considering many of the claims being made only make sense in the context of a fully kitted out build, I am assuming that all of the “brutes are useless lol” supporting data was more or less gathered at 50+3.

Yes I am down for some similar additions to sonic and to FF. Just commenting that powerset overhauls in this game are going to happen in the form of several minor tweaks, not redefining powers. Look at trick arrow. Tons of changes, and the only functionality that was totally replaced in the entire overhaul was the removal of -res from Acid Arrow; and they even dumped that same -res into Disruption Arrow to justify the move.

Now that’s more like it. The reality is calling any AT useless is absurd because all of them are roughly on equal footing in terms of being able to plow through this game at max difficulty with no trouble. Brutes, or any other AT, would actually have to be hurting in some way for your prior rhetoric to be justified, and they are very clearly not. The whole thing is just a petty gripe around the lack of a perfectly linear relationship between tanker’s mitigation advantage and brute’s damage advantage.

It’s even more silly than that to understand that difference completely and think it actually amounts to “brutes are useless now” - which is complete hyperbole.

This whole argument is highly silly to me. Even the folks cherry-picking data trying to prove the ridiculous claim that brutes are literally useless now have posted their very own tests showing that their brutes are still doing more damage.

There is no way you can achieve all of those things at once on just any defender build. Time defenders definitely. But most builds with that many procs can’t possibly get that much defense and recharge too. So let’s not treat outliers as norms. -
Resistance Debuff Enhancements/IOs

Resistance debuff is already one of the most powerful tools in the game with zero enhancement. Not seeing this as a viable change unless the debuff base values are nerfed, which I don’t think you want. -
I’m not opposed to an alternate animation option here and there, but I don’t think unique animations should be decoupled from their powersets completely like this. If you want the martial arts animations, you should play martial arts. It’s that simple to me.

I can understand why people would think procs aren’t ok right now, but it’s not like they don’t come with a sizeable cost. Good luck slotting ~25 damage procs and all the other goodies AND playing the high +recharge + soft capped defense forum meta all on the same build. (Proc monster tanks are an outlier to this statement here since they can’t exactly be squishy) -
I don’t have mids so good luck with those data chunks, but I have 5 vet level 100+ /fire brutes including dark/ (as well as rad/, spines/, ice/, and fire/). I can confirm for you that the loss of a second damage aura is not that big a deal - it’s maybe slightly noticeable but burn is still your main damage, and epic/patron aoes are more than enough to cover for the lack of a short recharge click PBAoE attack. EDIT: I also haven’t respec’d since the touch of fear change, so not sure if that power’s new AoE changes much. Looks like a tiny radius but maybe it could be proccy, idk.

It’s a fact that this is a highly disputed opinion. I’m coming around more and more to tankers myself, but I still find the “brutes are useless now” narrative to be a major stretch and know I’m not alone here.
