  1. Good question! First off, mainly I'm just aiming to make him more effective at, well, anything. I tend to level up willy-nilly, like hit the next level, go take a look at powers and think "I'll go with that for now" without giving it too much thought (it's only lately I've started trying to have a build ready to go before I even roll a new toon) and while he's playable enough, he's not, you know, super great. He needs more survivability for instance, I think his current defense numbers fall into like +/- 20% or so. So, in no p[articular order: Survivability Reasonable damage via procs (I don't usually go for single target work, so we'd be looking at mobs) Recharge is always good for Controllers Other factors previously mentioned (keeping Invisibility, wanted a Fly, etc.), so "not jettisoning anything that ever mattered to me about the toon just to chase numbers"; I know he won't be BEST zOMG, but I want better. I did some more work on the build last night after taking him on another MSR, and assuming Mids wasn't glitching, I think I managed to put something together that might work, which I'll post when I can (I work 12 hour shifts right now). Even still, I'd still appreciate some of you fine folk giving it a once over to make sure I didn't make any obvious mistakes or miss better options. Oh, and I want to (and did) keep Resurrect, teams that face plant a bit get real frustrating real quickly without it, and, apparently, you'd be surprised how often I've had to use it.
  2. Some of those weird extra slots were because I'd get stuck at assigning slots at say 38 and needed to drop them somewhere, you know? In fact, perhaps every one you mentioned there where victims of this; it's been awhile since I made this before giving up, which is why I dumped my failure here for the collective laughter and derision of the forum, ha ha! That's not a bad idea for Fortitude though. I may have missed an opportunity to skip a LotG recharge because one of the sets had a +6.25% as well, but again, I don't recall anymore - so I'll keep that in mind too, thanks.
  3. Been kicking around retooling my Darkness Control / Empathy controller and I can't seem to get him to where I want him, partly due to a couple of constraints I have in place: I want to keep Invisibility, and I need to squeeze in Tough/Weave and Maneuvers/Tactics (I assume) and I'm trying to do some Proc Monstering along the way. Problems I've run into include I ended up without any kind of Fly (Mystic Flight would be fine), slots that I had to drop somewhere that weren't truly necessary, perhaps skipping a power or two I shouldn't have, and I was hoping to keep him worth exemplaring down. The current state of my work on his build is really not the best, and who knows what opportunities I may have missed. Does anyone have any advice? Also, need help choosing proper Incarnate powers. 4. Yes, it does. There's only so much space for letters on they grey button (four or maybe five?) so I just abbreviated "target near" to TN for my purposed.
  5. I have no interest in binds and learning binds, as I don't want to have to look down and find the key I need for whatever, so I made myself a macro to target the closest enemy, [/macro TN "target_enemy_near"]. I prefer clicking things anyway. Every character has one of these.
  6. Plenty of us do use it, as noted in this thread.
  7. Thematic, for one. It would make sense for say someone who's discovered they can control weather to start with a strong breeze rather than a full-blown hurricane tutu, just like blast sets start off with little blasts instead of complete nuclear melt-down explosions. Beyond that, if you want to start nitpicking about whatever "role" it may or may not play, then I have a feeling you're going to unravel a lot of powers across multiple sets. And if every set had to stick to a template of "two blasts, one small then one big; one stun; one heal; one AoE" or whatever, the game would get dull fast. I just leveled a stormie Defender and liked Gale before and after I put the KB to KD in it. Now it's even more useful. I do find it more controlled than Hurricane, but obviously being more tactical requires you actually maneuver about a bit to line up your cone the way you want instead iof just barreling into the next group of foes. I realize this may not be a popular method of play in today's world. =)
  8. I... I have no idea what's going on here. Surely this will cause the game to collapse!
  9. I saw enough problematic stuff slip past the game even Live, no way I'm going over there, believe me.
  10. I only just realized this was here myself. WOO, LOOKA ME, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT CITY OF HEROES AT ALL!
  11. How long do you have to wait for them to flash? I might go check it out myself.
  12. Theoretically it could be done on the devs' end, sure. But you'd need to go post about that in the Suggestions section of the forums, not here.
  13. The yellow tells you you can fast-snipe (thanks to a particular enhancement or two, or enough Tactics on the team or whatever else might up your Acc), but that doesn't affect the range of the snipe.
  14. Even a single channel of 4chan type posting is pretty bad. That's saying your friend is racist only sometimes.
  15. Au contraire! I have a toon based on much the same concept, World's Smartest Cat Granted, I haven't leveled it much, but it's still there.
  16. Au contraire! I have a toon based on much the same concept, World's Smartest Cat Granted, I haven't leveled it much, but it's still there.
  17. You'd really think they'd put in a page of like five lines to tell you things like that, huh? :)
  18. Keep in mind that not every team is going to be fleshed out to eight players and feature uber-built toons like the people on the forums talk about all the time as SOP. That said, yeah, in a fast moving full team you won't really have time to use them too much. But skipping them is foolish as they really do help against the toug guys you'll face down, like monsters and AVs. I wouldn't skip them at all.
  19. Wait, what? How did you get so far away from the ski run? I tried it once and I don't think I could get that far out.
  20. Alistair McKnight? Of the Paragon City McKnights?
  21. I've always enjoyed them, my first 50 since the lights came back on was one, out of probably ten new faces I rushed in and made. I like them moreso than blasters (madness, I know), because I've gotten in touch with my inner "support" demon. Just going pew pew pew doesn't do enough for me, I want ways to affect other things, other choices to make, and so on. Sure sure, "damage IS support." YOU go plink at tin cans, I wanna freeze them, or armor them, or confuse 'em or whatever too. And then super-plink them for extra damage.
