Oh is that so? I disagree. Removing three or four powers, shuffling things around and replacing them with different new powers & functions... those are not small tweaks or adjustments, it is a revamp. Yeah, it is going to impact how it plays. But, Troo what are you going on about, no one said that here.. With some of the folks chiming in.. seems like something is already cooked up and in the works. What exactly is the justification for revamping an existing set? It can't solo a +4/8 ITF?.. oh oops I guess it can. No one plays it.. yes they do. Did those that play it regularly ask for a revamp? No they did not. I've said this before, some of the changes being planned are heavy handed, done in a vacuum and justified in an echo chamber. How hard is it to just spin up a new set vs revamping existing sets?

Agreed. Regen, at +4 without level shifts, is not a friend to DPS. At more reasonable levels it is not as much of an concern due to not needing as many clicks. Even then, there are secondaries that add to DPS and those that don't. As would be expected. There is no tax. Regen's capabilities just cap out earlier. Expecting an 8 foot ladder to reach 20 feet is simply user error. (could probably outperform Granite due to not being rooted or slowed depending on incoming damage management) I think 'seems' is the term to key in on. Folks have shown Regen can do some awesome things. It is possible your mathematical analysis could be flawed and is failing to capture something. In my opinion that might be 'time'. It is possible there are other factors which are difficult to factor. Why is there no Regen tank? This is likely because it has a razors edge component that is not conducive to tanks but ideal for scrappers. A regen tank would either be overpowered to all damage types or face down. My stalker is just fine. I am not going to try and solo a +4/8 ITF on it and I am okay with that.

It doesn't matter what folks show, it seems you're gonna move the goals posts. Apples and oranges. Regen is good at 99% of the game. Some folks just look at it through 1% lenses.

I was pointing out the irony but feel free to keep putting words in my mouth. Yeah buddy, that's the scenario that was put out there (see below). I simply showed what it was said to be weak against. Would you rather see a Regen tanking Hamidon? If you re-read what I wrote I never claim anything is 'my house' but I can see how the statement got you all triggered.

@Bill Z Bubba What do you consider rude? Pointing out the irony of the character in the chosen quote ending up being the villain of the movie. Where the promise of better is actually worse. The regen shown is in little danger in the pictured scenario. But if I skim this thread I'm supposedly gonna die in 12 seconds. What more do you want than experience from folks who have extensively played the set in days of olde and currently? Numbers to compare apples to oranges aren't super helpful. Maybe Super Reflexes needs to be reworked as it doesn't play the same an Electric Armor and it should because that how I want to play it. (that would be a ludicrous thing for me to come to your house and say) See picture above, that character has basicly zero defense. There is nothing restrictive other than some situational awareness.

..folks keep tellin you it works better than you think. (while admitting it can take some skill to play and should not be expected to compare to all other sets) But much like the scam artist huckster shown in your picture you don't want to hear it. To your question: Ice is actually similar to Radiation. Regeneration is not Bio (which is arguably broken). I'm bowing out of this thread.

@Galaxy Brain, Iove you man, however there is some irony in writing "This" but then 'lets go ahead a mess with 3 or 4 things anyway'.. Lets monkey with this part and fix that part.. GO BUILD A NEW SET IF YOU WANNA REWORK SOMETHING leave our 'gimped' (because folks aren't sure to play it) set alone. A handful of folks have chimed in with 'it works better than the static numbers say'. @UberGuy showed a solo'd +4/8 ITF. I'm here saying Revive & even MOG can be skippable because they are so rarely used. @America's Angel & others are saying it is actually really good and fun to play. @Sir Myshkin Has pointed out how not having a Def focused set can actually be very beneficial. Hey look there's Ice Armor begging for some help to keep up with Radiation Armor.

What kind of hardware is necessary to run high graphics?

Ram for COX is actually important. An SSD with 16G and a decent but not crazy graphics card will do fine. For CPU i5 is enough. Here is what I use -

Oooooo 'exploits' that will get some views. (and some responses!) Could add toggle dropping to your list. I see what you are writing and I see others a bit harsh in response. Maybe someday players will have the ability to be as creative in making characters as some of the mobs. Currently it would be too easy to create combinations that could exploit existing game mechanics. I like that there is more variety on mobs. I have often asked for a randomizer for high level targets where players could recognize and react tactically.

Recharge, recharge, recharge Think of Regen as an exotic or active Resist set. Things that help resist sets help regen. Defense is helpful (Over 30.. meh. Only really needed occasionally), -tohit is also effective. Dark Melee and Regen have natural synergies. I know there is likely a formula I could show damage mitigation that relates X amount of Regen = X amount of Resist (why aren't there regen tanks? hmm..)

The only place this might be true is at very high level solo game play. Beyond that, with IO sets and incarnates the notion is simply poppycock and splitting hairs. (gently pushing back while getting to use poppycock) Is it the best numerically = no. (note: this is not true across the board, there are cases) Does it work and can it be fun = yes. Designing 'fun' in a spreadsheet is a mistake.

I think it may have to do with how it stacks up to other scrapper armours vs brute armours. Sounds a lot like all need to be the same. Yes regen is clicky and requires attention. Some players like that. Some folks enjoy that there is at least a little skill and/or timing involved. For those who don't like clicky, there is a solution already in place.

Don't get me wrong @Galaxy Brain I am not saying regen will out survive invul just standing there, but 4x difference just doesn't make sense. Neither does lasting 12 sec with multiple heals available. I'll do a quick anecdotal test. Edit: Yeah 12 seconds is an absurd statement no matter how many caveats. (time is a critical factor**) On a Stalker with just 3 SOs only in the Secondary's Heal & Regen powers (nothing else, with no other powers on, no fighting back). I regularly got to hit Reconstruction more than once (36 sec rech). I did not make it to Dull Pain wearing off (2 min) ** Time is critical - in actual game play if I can make it 18ish seconds and have 1/2+ health.. death is a stranger.

Brutes might not be the best to compare. Regen on scrappers might be more interesting. There may be something off with the math as well. A brute getting smacked down in 12 seconds by 3 minions, 2 lt's, and 1 boss.. that just doesn't ring troo.

quick answer: no long answer: #1 You are on the right track thinking about how to leverage IO set bonuses. Early in the game those bonus stats can be used to boost an archetypes strengths but really are not enough to patch weaknesses (yet!). https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Blaster_Strategy #2 Teammates are cheaper than unique IOs or even IO sets. #3 Misses on a blaster are no good (others have mentioned this). Think of it this way, misses just waste endurance. Not doing enough damage and leaving just a sliver of health on a target.. got to use another attack. Again potentially using more endurance. There is a synergy at play.

Where is our inspiration to increase hold, sleep, confuse, stun or fear? Why isn't there an inspiration to increase knockback? What about magnitude? Why isn't there an inspiration to give folks some additional flight speed for 30 seconds? Why isn't there an inspiration to increase debuffs? Where is our inspiration that plays a tiny fiddle?
