Annoying missions

tl;dr at bottom

So last night I was running a story arc with my brother. It was in the night ward and it was from ward. We're running at 0-3. I was on my Psy/Inv brute, who's has attuned IO's and at lvl 34, and my brother was on a crab, lvl 31. So with my build and his buff I'm almost at the soft cap for everything but psy and it's been pretty easy.

So anyways we get to the last mission  Defend the Midnight Mansion and everything is going well, it's a little slow waiting for the waves. When we get to the part where we meet Clarity all hell breaks loose. My brother instantly dies and I'm not too far behind him. We both use wakies, stupid because we die again.

So I hit hospital and find out it's on the map. Awesome! So I thought. However, the ambush moved up to the Mansion and killed us. We couldn't rez that way. Now I'm all for a challenge but let me rez it's not fair to have the ambush go right to the hospital even if it is on the map. Now we have a SG base so I hit go to base because we weren't going to rez in the map. And guess what? it doesn’t take us to the base but to the hospital on the map so we die again. Getting really frustrated at this point. I’ve tried to rez more than I care to admit, yay debt badges. I'm stuck on the map and can't leave unless we log out of the game and start the whole mission over.

What I did was have my brother log out and log back on and buy some Insp. I was somehow able to jump away from the hospital before I died again. My brother sent me a big rez and a break free and a couple of purples and oranges. When he came back into the mission the ambush started attacking him so I rez popped my insp and we took out the group.
But that wasn't the end of the mish that I already hated we had to fight 3 EBs. We died two more times because we ran out of insp but we were able to use the hospital this time because the EB stayed in place.

The mish was super annoying and it will be a long time before I run it again. Shouldn't I be able to rez in the hospital without getting killed even if it's on the mission map? Especially if I can't leave the map without quitting the game. Is this a bug? Has this happen to anybody else? Was there something else I could have done beside inviting some else to the team?
What are some of your least favorite missions? I have a few more but I want to hear from you.

tl;dr Ambush was killing us at the hospital on the map so we couldn't rez and had to exit game to leave map.

I ran that mission with a full team awhile back that had the same issue... Multiple ambushes camping the respawn point, which in our case included a fair few of the summoning circle Arcana (Who, of course, had had time to call up their full compliment of Demons-). We ended up disbanding the team and abandoning the arc after trying a few different things to solve the issue with no success.

It's a questionable design choice to say the least... Rez point on the main map + stacking character-targeted ambushes that never seem to reset to a starting position is just a recipe for potential disaster.

Taker of screenshots. Player of creepy Oranbegans and Rularuu bird-things.

Wow, that sounds completely awful.  If there's time (and it sounds like there may not have been), I'd probably have dropped ouro and got out of there and then come back in away from the ambush fully loaded with insp, maybe even pick up some buffs at the sg base just to be double sure I got my revenge.  Heh

Another thought, though, email yourself some insp, so you can easily access them in any situation.  I keep a few (restorations, purples, yellows, and emerges) there just in case and am happy they are there when I really need them.

I had a similar issue with my PB on the Adm Sutter TF. Died, respawned at the hospital on the ship/destroyer, where I was camped by a Quantum. I was dying so fast, it took me two deaths just to figure out what was killing me. Think I ate six deaths in the hospital before I made it out. Bleah.

It was a disaster and if it was a bigger team we most likely would of had to quit.

Most insp in my email are from the winter packs I have bought, but might start sending myself more.

I'm also going and buy a self rez from the P2W on all my alts now.

I don't know how many times I died buy I got 2 debt badges because I had patrol xp and almost got the 3. Ugh.

I have ran that mission several times. Let me say, before entering that mission your whole team should be going in with a full tray of purples. Pop 3 or 4 at a time and watch your survival rate skyrocket. Good luck.

Croatoa - Skipper LeGrange: Stop the Ritual

  • Stop 30 Fir Bolg entering door

What the mission doesn't tell you is that you have to clear the map...

... while you are trying to prevent Fir Bolg from escaping, which rush the portal in waves.

Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx?

Pretty sure you don't have to do this or the map spawns eventually join in with running at the portal. I played this one not long ago and we beat it by just camping the portal until mission complete popped up.

This is true. Each and every mob will turn and make a B-Line straight to the portal one at a time. However, running this mission this way can be VERY long winded. We usually appoint half the team to guard the portal while the rest of us clear mobs out.

There's a decent gap between waves, enough to make the mission annoyingly long if you just waited for them to come in as it's a rather large outdoor map.

We were a team of two, once I checked the wiki and found that it's a clear all, I camped the door on my Water/Time Corruptor and my teammate hunted down the mobs still milling about out in the wilds.

There's also that Circle of Thorns mission where you have to save 500 hostages. That one always annoyed me.

And there's always one hiding in a niche whose gaolers don't agro as you run by 43 times.  So you sit there chagrined as the GM summons you 12 whole feet to the one you missed.

The key to the Skipper mission is to wait at the portal to defeat the first group or two then alternate between defeating a group running to the portal and sweeping a group idling in the fields.  Start on the east path and all of the many remaining groups will path the same way.  And don't bring a large team or you'll let 15 past if you miss a single group.

Could have been worse and taken place in side one of those GOD AWFUL PURPLE LAYER CAKE CAVE MAPS.

ANY mission in those cave maps is an auto-abandon for me if possible.

That map is an abomination from the deepest layers of hell, but I've gotten used to it.

I start at the bottom, and work it in a circular pattern going left, and work my way up through each layer. Of course, I solo most of the time. It takes time, but it works.

I hate that Mish too, I skip it if I can. I also hate the Mish in Croatoa Mish Stop the takeover of Salamanca because you have to wait 15 minutes to finished it

And during that time you get small ambushes, I've only solo this arch. It feels like an eternity.

Agree on this. Any of the purple cave maps really to small and groups spread out to make the maps any fun.

The mission difficulty in First Ward and Night Ward is inconsistent - in general it's harder, and occasionally you find yourself in a very deep hole.

There's a First Ward mission where you escort NPCs to various spots in a graveyard.  Ambushes spawn while an NPC is active.  There are also static spawns on the map that the NPCs stop and fight, letting more ambushes spawn.  I'd upped difficulty, and this was slow moving.

I accidentally got 3 NPCs active at once in a spot close to several static clumps - the NPCs got captured and I got wiped out.  Come back and there are lots and lots of villains, with the ambushes auto-agro on me.  A couple trips to the hospital and my computer crashed.

Came back knowing what was in store, pre-cleared the static spawns, and it was easy.  Point being - the mission wasn't inherently too difficult, but its components allowed it to spiral out of control.  It felt poorly tested.

I now dial down the difficulty in the Wards just in case.  But this means mostly too-simple missions.

Both of those mission are much easier with a 'slow' power.  My character had caltrops and me and an SG-mate was able to handle them with very few issues.  Just keep the caltrops dropped and be patient. :)

There are a lot of things in the game I used to dread, or get annoyed with, and think to myself "Why do I put up with that?".  Then the game disappeared for 7 years, and I didn't have those things to be annoyed with, or dread anymore, and I found that to be exponentially worse.  Now, I have it back, and I look forward to the opportunity to be annoyed by an enemy, or a mission.

Any mission that sends you across three zones to speak to a contact (that you already have so should be able to call but mysteriously can't), that when you have spoken to them you need to run back because the guy that sent to also mysteriously no longer answers his phone. A few more "I emailed <contact> with the file you recovered, he suggests you go and bust up some Malta in a nearby warehouse..." would be nice.

Crystal Caves and or Oranbega. I love the idea of Oranbega it looks cool but it's a bastard to fight in.

Any mission that has such an ambiguous in map description like: "Find Clues" or "Interrogate"... etc. When find clues turns out to be kill a single unnamed Boss mob in a map full of indistinguishable Boss mobs. Yet isn't a kill all (or the mob you're fighting is Malta/Carnies).

Undisclosed Kill All missions are a peeve of mine, the mission text is ambiguous and you discover AFTER having to clear the map (more often than not a large, multi level convoluted one) that it was a kill all.  I've run into several missions that are "Find x information" that are kill all... however some with the same description are a simple glowie hunt.

One that I hate above even that however are the "escort hostages out" missions like the "Rescue Debutantes from Carnival" tip mission.  Those are either abandoned or auto-completed immediately.
