In fairness, the line between "marital" and "martial" can be as confoundingly vague as it is infintesimally narrow.  Which isn't always a bad thing. 😉

I've never wanted to hit my wife and she's only wanted to punch the shit outta me a couple times in almost 20 years... so we're doin good!

Brutes and Tanks are about raw strength. They shouldn't be using martial arts or any kind of fancy karate moves. Everywhere I see, everyone is rolling a Brute. This is making a mockery of things. It's even hurting the integrity of characters people make. Bruce Lee was not a brute, he was a scrapper. Period. Brute is a villain thing.

Bolo – Enter The Dragon.  (MA Brute)

The Three Storms – Big Trouble In Little China. (MA Villains, not really brutes at all)

Colt – Return of The Dragon. (half and half MA Villain, partially a brute I suppose?)

Gogo Yubari – Kill Bill. (a tasty little Morsel of a MA Villain)

I think Bruce Lee might be a Brute though? Didn't you see Fist of FURY!

Bruce Leeroy on the otherhand is definitely a scrapper!

Sho'nuff - (MA Brutish Villain)  Playtime's over boy! When I say who's the master? You say! Sho'nuff!

No, you're clearly making a Lee, of all things.

I strongly disagree.

You can be a walking mountain of rage and still chop people away with fancy moves.

Please tell me you can Eagle Claw whilst Granite+Rooted?

What a sight that would be to behold

Eagle Claw with the cat- er- 'wolf' legs was what sold me on making Wolfhound MA.  Rule of cool always triumphs.

Also Jackie Chan is the OG MA tanker.  He's taken enough hits to put a blaster into months of debt.

Also Wolfhound, Starwave, Blue Gale, Relativity Rabbit, and many more!

I remember the Lee family thread from the old forums.

Sudden Lee

Vicious Lee

and so forth.

In that vein, there needs to be a brute and tanker MA supergroup called “The Adverbs.”

The Splintered Soul Project: (Nyght****) 21 and counting (18 max).

DSorrow: “Give a man a build export and you feed him for a day, teach him to build and he's fed for a lifetime.

I do not agree with mass proliferation- I think it took away from ATs, but alas we are here so whatever just do it. :3

^This.

I wasn't a fan when they spread the different archetypes because the then new Villain ATs were equivalents (ish) of existing Hero ATs.

But we're here, it's not going to change, and it's a non-competitive game so...  flip it. Let's go!

..It only takes one Beanbag fan saying that they JRANGER it for the devs to revert it.

Who do you think is going to hurt someone more?

The angry guy who just flails away at someone?

Or the angry guy who knows exactly where to hit them to hurt them the most?

In my opinion, thinking Brutes all have to be like the Hulk and Juggernaut is a mistake. The Fury mechanic can also represent someone who gets "in the zone" in combat, or someone who gets more powerful the more you beat on them. As an example of the latter: The Netflix version of Iron Fist is absolutely a Martial Arts/Willpower brute.
