Replace Ms. Liberty as the Atlas Park trainer.

It kind of bugs me that ever since Statesman died, Miss Liberty's been in two places at once. I know absolutely nothing about coding, but would it be possible to replace Ms. Liberty with a different character model?

 

Could maybe hold a community contest to design her replacement.

I'm not necessarily against the idea, (maybe BABs?), but different zones also represent a different time in your character's career, so Ms. Liberty isn't in 2 places at the same time inasmuch as she's moved around just as you have...

Putting BAB in there would be a fun way to mirror the start in Praetoria since Praetor White/Marauder is one of the first contacts. I'd kind of like to see an original creation, from our community, up on that pedestal but that's just me. BAB would be cool too.

 

I understand that it's representative of different times in your character's career, but AP is a very high traffic zone and players from all levels still interact with Libs.

It'd be cool to do some sort of monthly competition to gain that temporary honor - perhaps alternating between costume contests, bio contests, AE, SG bases, and so on...

I would prefer BaB as the contact for the Statesman task force like was originally intended over replacing Ms Liberty in atlas park.  I dont mind that she is in both places though,  3 places during valentines event,  4 if you count the winter forest.

Since, the dev team was quite happy to change out the trainer in PI once someone suggested it.

 

I am sure they can find someone to replace Ms. Lib in AP.

They needed a trainer for Temporal Warriors to use, and the irony of having them train at Castle was too great to ignore.

Back Alley Brawler is already a trainer in Atlas Park.

Castle the trainer was the avatar of Castle the developer from the retail servers.  My understanding is that he made several unpopular decisions regarding pvp among other things.  Placing him in the pvp zones to train was sweet justice.  He also had no purpose as far as story and lore are concerned.  He was just a bossman in the studio and placed his character in the game.

He's at a very convenient location when you pop out of the sewers and get introduced to Aaron Thiery.

 

Edit: Honestly it'd be nice if there were some trainers near the other contacts too, because going back to Ms. Liberty during those arcs does feel like a bit of a schlep.

First off, no need to design a new trainer while Atlas Park currently has two.  Ever since Galaxy City was destroyed, BAB was moved to the SW corner of Atlas Park, and I feel it's a huge disservice.  He should take center stage under the Atlas statue, and Ms. Liberty should embrace her role as watching over Statesman's old taskforce.  Sure, it's convenient having him there, but if it was about convenience then why don't we have multiple trainers in every zone?  Why not every corner of every zone?  Because it's not necessary, that's why.

 

Second, you're forgetting that Ms. Liberty is also present in Fort Trident... and in Pocket D during the Valentines Day event, meaning that she occupies three or even four places at once.  That is too much real estate for one hero.  Give Ms. Liberty a break.

This explanation doesn't hold water when you go back to the starting zone (like when you're running higher level content and it sends you to Atlas Park for a mission door), and she's still just standing there.  Also, it's immersion breaking if you standing in front of Ms. Liberty in Independence Port trying to get a team together for the task force and you ask a friend where s/he is at and they reply they're in front of Ms. Liberty in Atlas Park.  Saying that different zones represent different times for your character is a clunky, awkward explanation that could easily be fixed by just not having the same character in multiple spots simultaneously.

 

It's not as though the current development team is unable to change trainers at locations, as evidenced by the moving of Castle from Peregrine Island and replacing him with someone new.

She doesn't seem to act like that in the itrial 😛  That said, no.  I like the idea of replacing her with her double.  So those who want her replaced, get her replaced and those who don't still have a version of her there 🙂

While I do agree with the idea of replacing one of the Ms. Libertys, preferably with Back Alley Brawler, I also should note Ms. Liberty isn’t a unique instance of having two copies in the open world: Penelope Yin has both a contact for a normal arc and her TF replacing Sister Psyche. A bit more confoundingly is that the TF occupies only the next level range up from Penny’s arc in Faultline.

 

I suppose the overall best change would just be to put Faultline Penny on contact phasing so she’s only present when you are taking her arc. But I notice contact phasing doesn’t seem to be done too often by the current team so it might be too complex.

War Witch is in multiple locations too, and I'm pretty sure there are a few others. I honestly don't think it's a big deal. She's been there since day 1. It would be kinda weird for her to not be there.

War Witch is a multidimensional character so being in multiple places at once makes sense.
