Generic Purple IO's [Semi Serious]
Greycat replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ehhhhh... Not honestly sure what to think. On the one hand, I'm going "well, unique, that can cut down some of how this could be abused." On the other I'm kind of cringing at what *could* be done with those other slots. For instance, as mentioned earlier - cap out your slottable recharge on Hasten with one instead of two or three slots, those slots now open up higher set bonuses that would otherwise not be attainable... Even as someone who loves playing Khelds, triform, who *really* define "slot crunch," the thought of where that goes really makes me uneasy. -
A few things, some of which have been touched on - 1. If someone told you you have to play on high settings, they're wrong. You don't have to be fighting EBs/AVs all the time or at jacked up levels. Do what Sailboat said. Play at the level you're *comfortable* at. When it starts feeling too easy, then turn it up. 2. You don't have to delete and reroll if you make a mistake. If you're level 30, you have at least three respecs just waiting for you. You cannot change your archetype, origin or power sets, but you *can* change the powers you picked within them as well as your pool powers. Use them by going somewhere safe and typing in /respec. (You can always back out.) You'll be able to repick and reslot your powers, then re-add enhancements. (Don't forget to put any you don't use but still want in your tray or, as it warns, they will be deleted.) 3. Get those enhancements up to date. Or just craft a bunch of your most common (acc, dam, end reduction, healing, recharge) as level 30 common IOs and slot them, worrying about sets later once you've got a better feel for what's up in the game under you. Nothing wrong with that. Sell the SOs that drop afterward. 4. You may or may not want to do this, but you *also* have alternate builds you can use. You can create a "Solo" and a "Team" build (which I also do frequently on empathy/pain dom type characters that aren't masterminds.) Things that heal or buff others that you can't use on yourself? Drop them on the solo build and use the slots and power picks to up your offense and/or defense. About to join a team? Switch builds - either at a trainer or there is a command (I want to say it's /selectbuild, someone will probably correct me) you can use to change it on the fly. Your powers *will* go into recharge when you do, but for the most part - do it on the way to joining a TF or team and most of your stuff should be ready to go when the team is, in most instances.

... don't forget, you can recolor DA for new looks that can inspire new ideas. Super Sand Witch, for instance, is a Water/DA (... whichever order that goes in) Sentinel with it tinted tan/brown for a sandstorm....

This almost sounds like something that would need a massive revamp - essentially a new game. (For instance, we can't "hold" anything - grappling or holding up or down.) More along the lines of COH the RPG (without the MMO side, more single player/small group.) I wouldn't *argue* with more ways to interact, but ... yeah.

No, Fold Space does a *different* job at positioning than the storm set. It also requires multiple picks from that power pool first. Quite honestly, after reading this perhaps you should play rad instead. Debuffing without having to even consider positioning, repel or knockback. It doesn't sound like you and Storm are clicking to me.

The only change I want to see for Empathy's rez is that if it's not accepted (the person went AFK, whatever,) its recharge is instant, or at least many, many times faster. I hate wasting the rez on things like MSRs - or seeing multiple people waste them on someone who went AFK, making it not available for someone who was being active and got killed.

How many Merits can a character have on hand?
Greycat replied to Guardian's topic in General Discussion
So IOW just with holding on a character with hero (or those icky villain) merits - 499,950 held in hero merits(9,999 H/V merits X50 merits each) plus 9,999 merits = 509,949 merits. Might take a few MSRs. -
If my alts formed a team, I'd have at least two leagues... I could do a team of "the various alt-universe versions of one character," though not all of them are here. So... elec/elec blaster elec/elec sentinel elec/elec brute Merc/storm MM Dark/therm Corr Elec/elec dom PB Arch/TA Corr Or, a different character: Fire/SS tank SS/Fire brute SS/DA brute DA/SS Tank SS/Rad brute EnM/Fire Brute ... which might get boring. Bringing a core over from another SG: Warshade Ice/Ice Sent Nin/Pain MM Plant/Energy Dom Rad/Inv Sent Beam/Pain Corr With a TW/WP Brute and Dark/Elec Def guest starring. Hmm. Could go control heavy - the "Do you mind?" team: Mind/Fire Dom Mind/Time Troller Mind/FF Troller Mind/Pain Troller Ill/Poison Troller Mind/Savage Dom Mind/Sonic Troller And psi/wp Stalker, just for fun.

It's prefect? pre·fect noun noun: prefect; plural noun: prefects 1. British in some schools, a senior student authorized to enforce discipline. h Similar: monitor (I try not to pick on typos, but that one just seemed interesting to me. Wouldn't having the repel help the whole enforcement thing?) 🙂 Edit: Also out of curiosity, is that last line running into my signature for anyone else, or is my browser just being weird.... Edit 2: Nope. It was being weird 'til I removed the Roman history reference. Huh. OK then.

Can use one per day.

For right now, just ask a GM. They'll just grant more.

The Sewer Network: What might revitalize this?
Greycat replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
There aren't any in either sewer network. ASN trial, DFB, yes, but the sewer network itself, no. -
I'm saying "maybe" on this, given Darkness control's Confuse blackens the target enemy entirely. And as an option, sure.

The Sewer Network: What might revitalize this?
Greycat replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
Part of the reason for sewer runs was leveling. The live devs then dropped DFB on us, which became the lowbie "PL" of choice, especially with a hospital and trainer *right there.* Other than badge hunting and nostalgia, there's not reason to go there now. Unlike the hazard zones, I can't see putting "missions" down there (granted, we have sewer missions a-plenty...) and it's no longer really a "shortcut" (not that it ever *was,* granted) between zones. Short of a (rather tongue in cheek) "Stop the Blockage" event, which floods the streets if not completed, I can't think of a good thing to put down there to encourage people to venture back in. People complain about the Perez maze, and the sewers are a bit more tedious. -
No, GMs are not - generically - "soloable." I can't just take any random build and be assured of soloing them successfully. Even "GM killer" combo powersets need specific build choices to do so. Can I throw specific powerset and slotting choices into a build and solo GMs? Yes. That does not make GMs "soloable," or make it a problem that means GMs need buffing.

Man, I've just *not* been on much. Any plans blueside tonight?

Hazard Zones: what might revitalize these?
Greycat replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
No "max leveling" them. There should be a variety through the level ranges. However, adding content - basically turning them into "story" zones with some extra kick from hazard-size mobs - would be nice. Plenty of potential threat in Crey's, for instance. Certainly in Eden. And who knows what could be found in Boomtown... Some I've had more involved ideas for (the general rebuild of Boomtown, as it gets reclaimed, though it would take 3-4 issues (with 2-3 issues in between those,) the back and side edges would always be hazardous, and in general it would take a good few years, for instance.) -
Depends completely on the character (and what customizations are available.) Some get a lot of customization done, others are bog standard.

Vanguard Merits - Potential there for more alternatives?
Greycat replied to SupaFreak's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Well, that explains how the Rikti keep getting enough on their side for the raids. They keep hiring more temps. -
Any reason at all to make a Praetorian?
Greycat replied to Mithradates's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, if you want a look at some of the things (like the choices, going "undercover," etc,) that were being added, it's worth one run through. -
The Warriors are boring - is that a problem?
Greycat replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
No. It's just variety. I've got characters that they and their attitude/aesthetic fit perfectly. They have very few named bosses. Higher up, though, there are some artifacts in use. I think the main reason is just that they're blown by so quickly nobody remembers. -
Can we get an AE portal and hologram for the SG base?
Greycat replied to the1egend1ives's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't know if it has the same issue as the AH, either, with trying to load in another database. I don't think the hit would be anywhere near as bad, though - the issue Outrider brings up of not having a static map to return you to is likely the bigger issue. If that could be worked around, *I* wouldn't be arguing against it, certainly. -
Yeah, I've been out of it all week. (Less fun reasons. Felt like garbage.)

Having just gone through and checked, 135. Two accounts, though there aren't many on the second, and mostly concentrated on one server. Less than half of what I had on live.
