  1. My friend who has suffered the nickel-and-dimeing of a lifetime subscription to DCUO (why waste it?) says you may be in for some culture shock. In a good way. Welcome home!
  2. Interesting! I had not noticed that option. I went back on the character I thought had seen this, and it wasn't checked. However, the effect was gone also. Probably misremembered the alt. Or dementia starting at last. I figure 50-50 chance either way. At any rate, thanks for the tip, I'll use that to help declutter my P2W menu!
  3. I notice that the P2W vendor no longer offers things I can't currently buy. E.G., If I have 8 hours of 2XP already, I no longer see the Custom XP category. Hadn't seen this in the notes, thought I'd mention it.
  4. Beta setting is still available. Pick the option that doesn't overlap the slot numbers for best effect.
  5. Goodbye 2020, make sure the door hits you in the ass on the way out! (And don't think we won't be watching you, 2021!)
  6. I was on a Vigilante in Atlas last night, and easily 10 of 13 presents were 'naughty." Anecdote, not data, but still strange. My teammate had a much more even split.
  7. Isn't HC the only group trying to negotiate a legitimate license? AFAIK, that's the case. Which means they need to be more careful of IP laws. Seems pretty simple to me. It's likely the NCSoft folks are politely negotiating, it's sort of a cultural thing to conduct negotiations as opposed to declaring war, which benefits us all. Anything that activates the lawyer-bots is not good, and "profiting" from streaming -- actually anything that amounts to advertising -- will aggro the lawyer-bots. The result will be bye, bye Homecoming! Let's not aggro the sleeping dragon.
  8. First time I was brushed aside by a citizen... Into the street... Then pushed half a block by a truck... I knew I was back home! Love this place!
  9. I always wonder about the sanity of citizens who continue to reside in Paragon City who aren't secretly super-heroes. I mean, stick around for the chance to be bitten by a radioactive super-hero, trained by an Antique One, finding a Mallet of Destiny, or building your own suit of titanium armor, but at some point, you have to realize that won't be happening, and the smart thing to do is get the heck out of Dodge!
  10. It all is. The point of forbidding streaming is that, especially for popular streamers like yourself, it could be seen as profiting from the game, which would aggro the NCSoft lawyers. I am not a streamer, but I have enjoyed CoH streams, and I look forward to the time when it is again allowed.
  11. McAfee is not something I would allow on my machines. Glad you worked through it, but you shouldn't have had to. Mid's in all its incarnations doesn't touch the operating system, does nothing that should trigger an antivirus alert. (Probably a fingerprint false positive.) I second the vote for Malwarebytes, if you are rich please buy the payware version, but I still think it should be run only on demand. Seriously, though, McAfee is one of the more system-intrusive, problematic, resource intensive anti-virus applications. You are essentially trusting a commercial rootkit to protect you from all the other rootkits, malware, and viruses. Good luck to you if you elect to continue using it, I hope it proves to be worth the trouble. (I am, however, a confessed computing curmudgeon, so I hold a miniscule minority opinion.) In any event, enjoy the game, and Bona Saturnalia, by Jove!
  12. The first step in advanced slotting is admitting you have a slotting problem! I tend to overslot for Accuracy, because whiffs are not fun. (Ask me about Sands of Mu, aka Multi-Whiff, if you have a few hours.) I know you specified SOs, but honestly there are IO set procs/uniques/etc that are well worth the trouble to research. One-slot wonders can benefit from boosted IOs, as well.
  13. Agreed. I usually play controllers or defenders, so the obligatory secondary T1 is often something lame like a ST immobilize. Try to find some beneficial IO to put there, otherwise think of it as an excuse to devote slots elsewhere. I'd double the Devs' pay for the option to select a T2 vs the forced T1 in secondary powersets.
  14. "All out of rooves, eh?" -Die Fleidermaus [He means "roofs" -ed]
  15. Bona Saturnalia to you, Yomo! You exemplify the wonderfulness that makes this game such a blast.
  16. One advantage of Corruptor: PUG teammates don't automatically expect you to be a healer. That said, I like the Defender bonuses to the Leadership pool.
  17. Mostly on Torch, here. Occasional snarks, usually nothing too toxic. General seems to be the banter channel, can't see ignoring that. What would I do with my time between missions? Help is for helping, I can see being irritated if off-topic chat is seen there. Statistically, though, I think we're still standard deviations toward the good. I'm sorry to hear there are still jerks out in the wild. Next thing you know, they'll be dupin' rares, then we'll be gone to the Americans. (But there's no reason not to be civil about it!)
  18. I welcome the new content, I like the interesting new maps, but I agree there are some scaling issues. I can blame maybe half of my dozen faceplants on the "viral cocktail," but the rest? Multiple waves of Insta-bomb zombies are not my idea of fun.
  19. Good point! I imagine there is a strong correlation between spending all day running Council radio missions and thinking the game is too easy. Do professional Carnie or Malta hunters think the game is too easy?
  20. It was suggested uptopic as a way to challenge players who complain the whole game is too easy. I usually play controllers and defenders, so I don't really see it, but I'm willing to let them give it a try.
  21. You said it! That's one reason I think x12 wouldn't work. +5 might not either, but let's try it on a Beta shard and find out.
  22. Nice ideas here. I'd like to agree with leveraging the storytelling playerbase to create new content, free of the stigma of AE. This is a way to make the game more scaleable, without killing the Devs. No one should think the editor's job is trivial, however. This would still mean a time investment from the Dev team. Kallisti Wharf needs livening up, perhaps promoted player-made missions could live there? Also, it strikes me there are odd little corners of the game that would be very popular if more folks knew about them. As an example, I am sometimes surprised when I mention Mayhem Missions and no one on the team knows what I'm talking about. Mayhems, with their destructible environments, are a blast! Why not make something similar available to heroes? I don't know how well difficulty scaling would work, but I have no objection to testing it out. I suspect +5 would play better than x12, but let's find out! An Ouro-like option to handicap players, set limits, or buff enemies might be worth a good look, too. Again, I'd be glad to help test. Thanks for listening, and thanks for all the hard work.
  23. Doesn't Monty have a higher level arc (when you "come back later") where you have to rescue Percy again? If I'm misremembering, can Monty have a higher level arc (when you "come back later") where you have to rescue Percy again?
  24. No need to guess; the Combat Attributes window can monitor running speed. FWIW, they look the same to me. Anime running always looks faster!
  25. Even a bare-bones base can give you all the destinations. All you need to do is enter it, and there are now plenty of ways to do that.
