  1. I don't. But only because there's no point. I just play the game and, with tens of thousands of reward merits across all my character, what do I need with inf? 'Back in the day', I engaged in every inf-generating activity known. Now, I don't bother.
  2. Here's the problem. As far as I can tell, there is no single answer. It varies according to each persons plans, hopes, expectations, current wealth, etc. Let me tell you a story of the largest amount of inf I gave a single person. This was back on live, years before shutdown, so inf wasn't quite as easy to get back then. I was duoing with someone late at night on their final push to get to 50. This was going to be their first 50 on that server, as well as the first 50 in their supergroup. Once they hit 50, they went to Atlas to train and a bunch of their SG mates showed up to offer congratulations. I asked what they were going to do now and they said they were going to respec into their final build and that they planned to transfer HALF of their total inf from Freedom (where they had started out) over to Infinity to equip this character. I casually asked how much inf that was. They said they had about 100 million on Freedom and so would bring 50 million over to Infinity. I opened a trade window and gave them 100 million. They paused and asked, "Are you sure?" because that was a lot of money to them. I replied, "I'm sure. That's 5% of what I have just on this one character." If I had given them 10 million, it would have been helpful and a nice surprise. If I had offered half a billion, it would have been too much. It would have felt odd. It could have changed their perception of the game. The amount I offered was large enough to be startling but not 'more than I've ever seen in my life'. In conclusion - if you're giving money away at random, knowing little or nothing about the recipient, I think it's probably safer to go small than big. Twenty million gets you a start on your build, or a nice assortment of powers from the P2W Vendor for one character. My guess would be that you could go as high as 50 million without freaking people out.
  3. Also, if you're looking for enemies with a unique name, you can use a targeting bind. Much more effective than just hitting Tab. Say you're looking for 'Fake Nemesis' robots. If you start collecting badges, you will need to hunt them at some point. In the chat window, type: /bind KEYNAME targetcustomnext alive Fake Personally, I use /bind numpad1 targetcustomnext alive Fake I have stuff bound to most of the numeric keypad but keep the 1 free for this use. This will cycle thru all living Fake Nemesis within range. Note that this is actually further than you can read their names or, sometimes, even see the target. Makes hunting much faster. Unfortunately, you can not do a targeting bind by FACTION. i.e. you can't have one that searches for all Skulls or Hellions. You have to use the specific enemy name.
  4. Well, you'll get dozens of different answers on the best way to enhance your character as you level. Here's what I do. I run Death From Below and don't bother with enhancements, except the ones I get in the trial, until I'm high enough level to do the Positron task force (level 8+). Then, I buy single origin (SO) enhancements from the vendors until I get to about level 30. Around 30, I finalize my build and start buying/crafting Invention Origin set enhancements (these are the ones with the cool names, like Positron's Blast). At level 32, I start slotting level 35 crafted enhancements. I slot higher level enhancements as I level higher and higher. I find this is absolutely 'good enough' and will not replace these enhancements EXCEPT - for a handful of favorites that I expect to play a lot after hitting 50, I'll make some changes for an 'end-game build'.
  5. Cool. Back on live I took every AT to 50, as well as every tank armor set to 50. On Homecoming I'm just recreating a few of my favorites and taking the new stuff to 50, like radiation armor and bio armor.
  6. It's a powerful combination. I have an invuln/dark tank.
  7. Too magnanimous. I list my rares at 385,000 and everything else at 1. As for buying rare salvage, I rarely pay more than 455,000 and have never paid a half million. People need to be more patient. Put in your bids and wait. Or throw money at the auction house like a drunken sailor. Your call.
  8. Yes. That is THE way to do multiple patron arcs.
  9. You win some, you lose some. The proliferation of abbreviations may not be newb-friendly, but the quality of life improvements are absolutely a godsend to newbs. Remember trying to get to mission doors on the other side of The Hollows at level 9? Remember sucking wind for 20 levels because you didn't have Stamina? As for leveling faster, I really don't see that as a problem. It's an option. I normally run Double XP until a character is high enough to do the Positron TF, then delete the power and never buy another. BUT - I am currently working on a joke character that has a (deliberately) horrible build. I plan to take him all the way to 50 without power leveling so I'm running double XP on him.
  10. Just a guess here, but I would think (since you can only have one thumbtack) that double clicking your right mouse button will remove it. The first click sets a tack and the second click at the same spot removes it. I have not seen any way to remove it from the chat line.
  11. Also generally, you have to actually register and create an account so there's no 'drive-by vandalism' of the wiki.
  12. Or maybe she's a baby sandworm.
  13. Meh. The wiki says the max for global ignore is 100 but says nothing about the max for global friends. I know I hit the limit back on live, but I don't remember if it was 150 or not.
  14. Cool. Everlasting does a lot of iTrials. The schedule for today on Everlasting TFs (excluding the Hami raids) is: Master of Barracuda Minds of Mayhem (normal run) Behavior Adjustment Facility (all badges) I would suggested joining the channel Everlasting TFs (Don't leave off the 's' at the end.) In addition to the scheduled runs, there's generally a couple of casual runs of the BAF and/or Lambda. And don't worry about joining the BAF badge run as a new player. You just need to follow instructions like "Team 1 go to the admin building." Even if you don't know where that is, just open your map and your teammates are a brighter green than the rest of the league. Tin Mage and Apex are not incarnate trials. They give reward merits at the end, and not incarnate salvage.
  15. I'll offer some additional guidance. Several people have linked to the old wiki, which is no longer updated. Homecoming has its own wiki and the page for this badge gives the exact coordinates of each person you need to speak to. https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Chatterbox_Badge
  16. I feel like there is a character name in there..... I wonder if 'Been Under A Rock' is short enough to use. We have five free transfers and they are replenished, back up to five, every 3 days.
  17. Because the place we all play has rules. I choose to help enforce them. You do as you see fit and I won't judge you about it.
  18. Fixed that for ya. 🙂
  19. It shouldn't be too hard to find. It was super easy back when it first dropped. I grabbed a copy back in April 2019 in case I ever had a use for it. Haven't even decompressed it yet.
  20. It happens. Back on live, I happened to glance at my global friend list and someone in my SG exited the character creator and appeared on the list as 'Diety of Chaos'. I sent them a tell, "Diety?" They replied, "F**K!!!" And the character disappeared. 🙂
  21. I can't agree on this for one simple reason. I have a character with just 225 badges that I created, built, leveled and incarnated (is that a verb?) SPECIFICALLY for the Magisterium iTrial. He's done the Really Hard Way successfully at least a dozen times. He's also got Master badges for several other iTrials. I was focused on getting this character to Tier 4 Incarnate across the board and didn't think about badges along the way. You would be hard-pressed to find a better character to bring along on a Master run, but he doesn't meet your one metric.
  22. Switching servers is just about as easy. There are 3 buttons at the top right of the character screen. They are (from left to right): transfer, rename and delete. When you select transfer, it will detail what gets carried over (like stuff in the auction house) and what does not (like supergroup membership). It warns you that your name might not be available on the destination server. It also says it might take some time for the transfer to take place, but I've never seen it take longer than 1-2 seconds. You have 5 transfer tokens and they are replenished (back up to 5) every 3 days.
  23. I currently have a Logitech mouse, keyboard, webcam and headset. While my girlfriend has a top-of-the-line Corsair keyboard (and loves it), I'm using one of Logitech's cheapest. It cost me $14 (with a mouse) and I love it. I liked it so much, I bought a spare one in case they discontinued the model by the time this one wears out. I build a new system every 3-4 years and this is my third computer using this same keyboard. I'm not using the cheap corded mouse that was packaged with the keyboard. I'm using a cordless laser mouse (M705). I can say one good thing about Razer. I have a corded Razer headset that worked great for many years (and still does) and it was fine when I lived in a studio apartment so small that the cord allowed me to walk from the computer to the kitchen. When I got a bigger place, I got a wireless headset (Logitech G930). I've had it just over 7 years and had to replace the ear pads, which are easy enough to find online and replace.
