Wait, what? A video game was released later than originally announced and there needs to be a 'story' behind the delay?
-
It depends on your needs. I have three, just like I did back on live. To be fair, though, the third account was FTP while the first two were subscription accounts even after the game went FTP.

What if the Well of the Furies had been contaminated and both Marcus Cole and Stefan Richter died after drinking from it?

Power Pool Powers that help with Endurance?
Ironblade replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
And that's just the first step. I am currently leveling Toggle Man, whose job is to run as many toggles as possible (in actual combat - not just standing around). He's a spines/dark armor scrapper because that's what the original post from back on live required. A lot of the requirements are no longer accurate, but I am taking the powers indicated in that marvelous piece of prose. I am TRYING to have him be viable without the Alpha slot to help with endurance. He's got +51% recovery, extra END, 10% global end reduction, the Panacea, Numina and Miracle procs and Performance Shifter proc. He doesn't have Conserve Power yet. -
Things that make it easy to want to log in…
Ironblade replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
I have never PUG'ed with Snarky. 😞 Probably because we're on different servers. 😛 (Although I do have a single 50 on your server.) -
Aren't there diminishing returns for Enchancements?
Ironblade replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
This is accurate for damage, accuracy, endurance reduction, etc. These are 'Schedule A Enhancements'. But 'Schedule B Enhancements', like defense, damage resistance, to hit buff, etc scale to a lower number. You hit the ED limits around 55%. Schedule C and D enhancements (interrupt reduction, knockback, etc) scale to a HIGHER number. You don't see much drop-off until after 100% or 150% (for C and D respectively). -
Never going to happen. When the first person in a zone opens the AH, it loads the entire auction house database. Anyone else in the same zone accesses the same data. So you can never have more instances than the existing zones. If you could access the AH from a base, this would be super popular for crafting and there could be hundreds more separate instances loaded. Getting around this would require rewriting the entire AH system.

If City of Heroes were remade entirely today...

I would like the ability to close opened windows by hitting 'Escape'. Every modern game has this capability. -
Isn't that the 'secret server'? And didn't it shut down shortly after its existence was revealed?
-
But, but . . . maybe Ironblade Too and Ironblade III are destitute! 🙂
-
There is one reason which is not applicable on this server. Money. Cash shops for cosmetic items are big money without being 'pay to win'.
-
Yep. Keybinds work the same way. Leave out the /

Why are echancements selling for so much on the AH?
Ironblade replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
Worth mentioning to avoid confusing people - the auction house is cross-server. -
Wonder Woman's armpits - late to the party
Ironblade replied to Snarky's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Actually, I believe they used a strigil. -
I do not have a badger but I had a character named Unarmed Wombat. Oh, not that kind of badger? My badging character is my main, who happens to be a broadsword/regen scrapper.
-
I don't. But only because there's no point. I just play the game and, with tens of thousands of reward merits across all my character, what do I need with inf? 'Back in the day', I engaged in every inf-generating activity known. Now, I don't bother.

Here's the problem. As far as I can tell, there is no single answer. It varies according to each persons plans, hopes, expectations, current wealth, etc. Let me tell you a story of the largest amount of inf I gave a single person. This was back on live, years before shutdown, so inf wasn't quite as easy to get back then. I was duoing with someone late at night on their final push to get to 50. This was going to be their first 50 on that server, as well as the first 50 in their supergroup. Once they hit 50, they went to Atlas to train and a bunch of their SG mates showed up to offer congratulations. I asked what they were going to do now and they said they were going to respec into their final build and that they planned to transfer HALF of their total inf from Freedom (where they had started out) over to Infinity to equip this character. I casually asked how much inf that was. They said they had about 100 million on Freedom and so would bring 50 million over to Infinity. I opened a trade window and gave them 100 million. They paused and asked, "Are you sure?" because that was a lot of money to them. I replied, "I'm sure. That's 5% of what I have just on this one character." If I had given them 10 million, it would have been helpful and a nice surprise. If I had offered half a billion, it would have been too much. It would have felt odd. It could have changed their perception of the game. The amount I offered was large enough to be startling but not 'more than I've ever seen in my life'. In conclusion - if you're giving money away at random, knowing little or nothing about the recipient, I think it's probably safer to go small than big. Twenty million gets you a start on your build, or a nice assortment of powers from the P2W Vendor for one character. My guess would be that you could go as high as 50 million without freaking people out.

Is there an easy way to find particular mobs in a zone?
Ironblade replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
Also, if you're looking for enemies with a unique name, you can use a targeting bind. Much more effective than just hitting Tab. Say you're looking for 'Fake Nemesis' robots. If you start collecting badges, you will need to hunt them at some point. In the chat window, type: /bind KEYNAME targetcustomnext alive Fake Personally, I use /bind numpad1 targetcustomnext alive Fake I have stuff bound to most of the numeric keypad but keep the 1 free for this use. This will cycle thru all living Fake Nemesis within range. Note that this is actually further than you can read their names or, sometimes, even see the target. Makes hunting much faster. Unfortunately, you can not do a targeting bind by FACTION. i.e. you can't have one that searches for all Skulls or Hellions. You have to use the specific enemy name. -
Where am I supposed to be getting my enhancements from?
Ironblade replied to MikeSol's topic in General Discussion
Well, you'll get dozens of different answers on the best way to enhance your character as you level. Here's what I do. I run Death From Below and don't bother with enhancements, except the ones I get in the trial, until I'm high enough level to do the Positron task force (level 8+). Then, I buy single origin (SO) enhancements from the vendors until I get to about level 30. Around 30, I finalize my build and start buying/crafting Invention Origin set enhancements (these are the ones with the cool names, like Positron's Blast). At level 32, I start slotting level 35 crafted enhancements. I slot higher level enhancements as I level higher and higher. I find this is absolutely 'good enough' and will not replace these enhancements EXCEPT - for a handful of favorites that I expect to play a lot after hitting 50, I'll make some changes for an 'end-game build'. -
Cool. Back on live I took every AT to 50, as well as every tank armor set to 50. On Homecoming I'm just recreating a few of my favorites and taking the new stuff to 50, like radiation armor and bio armor.
-
It's a powerful combination. I have an invuln/dark tank.
-
Too magnanimous. I list my rares at 385,000 and everything else at 1. As for buying rare salvage, I rarely pay more than 455,000 and have never paid a half million. People need to be more patient. Put in your bids and wait. Or throw money at the auction house like a drunken sailor. Your call.
-
Yes. That is THE way to do multiple patron arcs.

Homecoming: any consistent sayings yet?
Ironblade replied to Techwright's topic in General Discussion
This is my SG motto. -
You win some, you lose some. The proliferation of abbreviations may not be newb-friendly, but the quality of life improvements are absolutely a godsend to newbs. Remember trying to get to mission doors on the other side of The Hollows at level 9? Remember sucking wind for 20 levels because you didn't have Stamina? As for leveling faster, I really don't see that as a problem. It's an option. I normally run Double XP until a character is high enough to do the Positron TF, then delete the power and never buy another. BUT - I am currently working on a joke character that has a (deliberately) horrible build. I plan to take him all the way to 50 without power leveling so I'm running double XP on him.
