Forming Teams :: is it too scary to lead/recuit?
Ironblade replied to UltraAlt's topic in General Discussion
And Citadel is always the example. š Back on live, someone was recruiting for a Citadel TF. I wasn't interested and paid no attention to the broadcast. They sent me a tell asking if I wanted to do the Citadel TF. I said, "No thanks." They then proceeded to send a tell informing me that, as a player in an MMO, it was my obligation to team with people. -
How much cash inf do you have on your account?
Ironblade replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in General Discussion
Well, I could repost one that I took to prove the number of merits you could hold is not 9999 and is, in fact, an even 10,000. This would support my statement about having close to 30,000 merits since I have a third of that just on one character. š -

It's all relative. Back in the day, when the game was live, I was teaming with someone and they hit 50 with their first character on Infinity. They said they were going to move some inf over from Freedom to do their build. I asked how much that would be. They said they had a total of 100 million on Freedom, so would bring over about half. I opened a trading window and offered them 100 million inf. They asked, "Are you sure?" "I'm sure. That's 5% of what I have just on this character." Back in the day, I had a spreadsheet of my characters with how much inf each one had. This wasn't so I could get the money when I needed it. It was so I would see which characters had room to hold more. Back then, I farmed PvP recipes, worked the AH, had a fire/kin controller and engaged in pretty much every method to generate funds. Of course, back then, this was the only online game I played. When it shut down, I branched out and now I play a bunch of different games so I don't spend so much time raising pointless amounts of money in this one. My total inf across all characters now is somewhere between 500 and 750 million just from playing. I also have close to 30,000 reward merits so I don't spend inf on a lot of things. "But if you used the merits to get converters and sold those, you would save inf." "Why should I even bother with that extra step when I have tens of thousands of merits?" -
Any enhancement provides the enhancement at all levels. A level 50 IO from a set provides exactly the same benefit as a level 50 common IO and scales exactly the same. Only the set bonus will 'cut out' if you exemplar below level 47 (for a level 50 set piece).

General Feedback: Issue 27, Page 2
Ironblade replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Signature Story Arcs are now available in the "Story Arcs" tab of the Looking For Group window Very nice. Not a big deal, to be sure, but a nice addition. -
Only two? I have two NOW, that I remade from live. Back then, I had . . . four, I think.

The game will only allow you to use one at a time. You used to need just two. Then the devs fixed the BP Lore pets so now the leaders ask you to bring three. The Banished Pantheon are still the highest DPS Lore pets but they're not broken any more. 1. Run when the game announces the 'crackle'. And don't run back too soon. 2. Stay behind him. His 'beams sweep the area in front of him', or whatever it says, is pretty nasty also. Being melee is not necessarily a problem. I got the badge on my scrapper easily enough. Also, HOPEFULLY the league has multiple people with Kinetics so you need to be close enough for Fulcrum Shift. Standard instructions on Everlasting for Really Hard Way runs (which my girlfriend runs every Saturday): Be at least tier 3 in every incarnate power, tier 4 preferred. For sure, if you're not level 53 GTFO. Bring 3 ultimates. Bring a similar number of tier 4 team reds (don't recall the inspiration name). Bring 3 Impenetrable Imbuement (team orange/purple insp). Some of the team acc/dmg insps would also be nice. Go to the Pay to Win vendor and get at least the one hour damage buff (the other two are nice, but not required). I won't go into the tactics since you said there is already good leadership for the runs. Back in the day, when the game was live, it was REALLY hard. Our standard tactic on Infinity was to start with TWO ENTIRE TEAMS OF CORRUPTERS. This was becuase Tyrant's damage resistance goes up as his HP go down. This was countered by Scourge doing more and more damage as his HP go down. Nowadays, we can do it with no AT requirements. Having said that, if you want to be super helpful for the attempts, make a character specifically for that trial (like I did). I made a beam rifle/kinetics corr and selected every power and every incarnate power with an eye toward that one iTrial.

There's your problem right there. I hate that TF. I run it once per character for the accolade and never again.

Since you're on Reunion, I'm guessing you're in Europe somewhere so the times on other servers may not be convenient for you. Several of the other servers run iTrials every night. Everlasting, for example, has a posted schedule on the TF channel and will be doing DD and TPN tonight. Specifically, Master of Lady Grey, DD, then TPN. Start time is 7:30 EST. -
I would go further and say that, if you use a computer for anything more significant than social media, and you don't have a back-up system in place, you're an idiot. I recall an audio recording I heard over 30 years ago. It was a guy whose laptop had suddenly died calling the tech company he had sent it to for repairs. They informed him that the hard drive had failed completely and the data was unrecoverable. The guy lost it, screaming that his doctoral thesis was on that computer and that he had no back-ups. "That's a year of my life", he screamed. You could just tell that the tech guy wanted to reply, "Dude, you were using an antique computer and had zero back-ups. What did you expect?" People make an occasional back-up and have some spare hardware and think they're in good shape. No. Assume that your computer is going to catch fire one day, and possibly also burn the house down. Prepare contingency plans accordingly.

The best part of playing an old game is the old players

I thought the tv show 'Police Squad' was on par with Airplane. Probably because it had Leslie Nielsen playing the exact same type of character. The 'Naked Gun' movies got a little too slapstick. -
LFG Imperious TF transport send me to Khallisti
Ironblade replied to Snarky's topic in General Discussion
That was going to be my reply, also. I had this happen while attempting to reach Cimerora and ended up at Positron. I checked and, oops, forgot to unclick the Posi TF after doing it earlier that day. -
Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)
Ironblade replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I have some feedback regarding the existence of some of these changes, rather than the details of the changes themselves. Page 1 of this issue changed/removed/modified powers such that some existing characters needed to respec. And now you're doing it again. You're rewriting existing powers and I'm going to have to respec multiple characters. It would be great if we could have a moratorium on this type of change for a while, once Issue 27 is done. -
Here's a weird one. Someone said the mission for Spelunker (Rescue the Mystic) was not showing up in Ouroboros. I checked and it wasn't there. *BUT* I also checked the Ouro crystal in my base and the mission *IS* listed there. Having said that, someone else had the same thought and checked in their base and it was *NOT* listed for them. So, super weird, kind of random bug. Edit: It gets weirder. Someone tried the Pillar in one of the transport bases and the mission is listed, but when they go to their own base and check the Pillar, it's not listed. I have not yet been able to identify a pattern. Further edit: I just checked in FIVE different bases on one character. The mission shows up in the list in four out of the five and not in Ouroboros.

I would agree this is the best course of action for someone who only has 850 merits. Watch the price to see how much it fluctuates day to day and you'll be able to price them to get as much inf as possible with them selling in 1-2 days. If they insta-sell when you post them, you're letting them go too cheaply. While this is what I do, since I have many thousands of them and can't be bothered with the extra steps of getting the converters, selling on the AH, etc.
-
On my badge hunter, it's a constant stream of items I can sell on the AH for the selling badges. On all my others, I keep one or two of each and vendor the rest.

Definitely. I took a dark/dark tank to 50 (and incarnate) back on live. Dark Melee gives you a self-heal and a +end power. Very powerful. And you can recolor the dark melee attacks to every color of the rainbow! Thus, I have Chromatic Cat, invuln/dark tank. š

How many Merits can a character have on hand?
Ironblade replied to Guardian's topic in General Discussion
I see a lot of people saying 9,999 but, surprisingly, that's wrong. The actual number of reward merits you can carry is 10,000. (I tested this by earning enough to put me at 10,005.) This means: 1. The interface display can handle a 5 digit number. 2. The internally stored max value must be at least 32,767 (because math). So that 10,000 cap was an arbitrary decision and it could just as easily have been 15,000 or 20,000 or 25,000 or 30,000. -
Interesting. I don't stop playing an alt until they hit 50. Ever. I had ONE character that I decided had a wrong powerset so I re-rolled at 20, then took him to 50. I took every AT to 50 back on live. I also took every tank armor set to 50 at least once. I had a total of 37 level 50's and five characters on their way. At the moment, I have 18 characters with 12 of them being level 50.

Well, that's annoying. I had a PDF version of the Issue 25 changes from before the Homecoming wiki was set up and that's not on the list. And the Issue 25 summary here on the forums doesn't have it and it also links to the same document I already had. Grrrr......

So, I went through the chore of getting 400 reputation in PvP in order to get the Disruptor badge and the Longbow Warden 2 Gladiator badge. I got the Disruptor badge along the way, since it seems it now awards for 50 PvP kills. I noticed I had gotten a badge, but it couldn't be the one I was after because it came with the Longbow Defender Gladiator badge. Well, I got to 400 reputation and nothing happened. So I used Google and found a random discussion where one person said the Disruptor requirement had been reduced AND the accompanying gladiator badge was RENAMED. Was this documented anywhere? Because afterward, I went and read EVERY set of patch notes, plus the Issue 25 patch notes and the old ones on ParagonWiki. I could not find this documented anywhere. So, either I missed it or it got overlooked. If the latter, that really sucks because of how long it takes to get this one. Tagging @The Curator so that, if this didn't get documented, it gets done now so no one else has to put up with the tedium I just went through.

Why do we have announcements on every channel for a MONTHLY event when we don't do that for DAILY events? I think you have answered your own question.
