Generic Purple IO's [Semi Serious]
golstat2003 replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I'm . . . actually shocked to see you of all folks post this. I think this sounds like it would lead to even more power creep. /shrug. But sure why not. LOL EDIT: I can imagine this making proc monster builds even EASIER to achieve lol -
"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?

Hmmm I would not mind a new difficulty where some mobs can get level shifted. Or have some mobs that use Destiny or Judgement themselves. 🙂 -

Right and the game if it had been completed purposefully lead you to be +3 by the time you left the zone for the next set of incarnate challenges . . . which the devs never go to unfortunately. -

You assume many folks would care. I have a version of COH downloaded to every computer I own currently. If NCSoft ever gets crazy, I'll still be able to play COH. If I could list 100 reasons why I stuck with my love of this game in the last decade, it being an mmo would be number 100. Dead last. EDIT: If COH had been released as a single player game, I would still be playing it today, and would find ways to play it in a VM when Windows no longer supported it. One of the servers, I play on I ONLY solo 100% of the time. When I don't want to deal with the nonsense of other folks I'm there playing. I've been actually playing there quite a bit that last few months. -

Superman, The X-Men, etc lost all the time in one way or another. So did Daredevil, so did Batman (hell Batman nearly lost everything in 2020 due to the Joker). Not losing doesn't have anything to do with it with my love of heroes. People prefer to play COH as casual, not serious. If they wanted serious difficulty there are plenty of games that have that. Folks like the idea of just joining a team of any 8 and steam rolling stuff. That's always been the case. -

As a kid I liked Superman, The X-Men, The Avengers. The Justice League. Guys who had actual superpowered threats. I think the disconnect in this thread is spot on with your post of where people are. What is a superhero to some folks? I'm sure we would get an epic amount of different responses. To me Batman is interesting because of the various psychiotic enemies he faces. Not that he is a gritty street level guy. Daredevil is interesting because of the insanity of the Hand and their ability to bring people back from the dead and the "monster" the worshipped at one point, and his super senses. Not cause he fights in Hell's Kitchen. I like my superheroes fantastical. I don't find comics where they are fighting a bunch of lacky thugs and struggling all that interesting. /shrug. -

That's the brilliant thing now. There can be an infinite number of COH. -

Yep, if you want to limit DA to 50 only sure. Removing the level shifts in incarnate content. No. Had to make that clear. -

I'd be fine with this as a difficulty option (as I stated earlier) -

To be honest I was always curious why they allowed sub 50s in the zone. If it's incarnate content then keep it as incarnate content. -

The thing is DA was meant to just be the start of the Incarnate "solo" path. Other incarnate zones would have come, and you were meant to move on from that zone to harder zones. Unfortunately the OG Devs ran out of time. -

Yes but again, you haven't answered the question about non-incarnate content. Only 1 of the level shifts can be used in non-incarnate content. We'll have to disagree on removing them from Dark Astoria. Dark Astoria is incarnate content. -

Two of the Level shifts can't be used in regular non-DA and iTrial content. How that does solve the question of difficulty in non-Incarnate content? Also that's (All AV option) just ONE example. There are numerous examples of other difficulty options. Again, they don't all have to be done in one setting/Issue/Page. EDIT: Some others just off the top of my head: A setting that removes the purple triangles A setting that increases the effect of debuffs from enemy mobs at or above boss level A setting that can remove the aggro cap No, all of this doesn't have to be done in 1 issue or 1 Page. They can take however long they need to. We'll still all be here. 🙂 EDIT2: To be clear this thread wasn't started of a question of "should incarnate content be balanced around IOs". My understanding was that it was a discussion of all content. And when those that say the game is too easy (in various threads over the last few months) they are talking about the total of COH as a whole (incarnate and non-incarnate content). So it sounds like the issue is not just incarnates, but more they are referring to (as a starting point) the base game and IOs. But I could be wrong. -

One or two server have already started the path for more advanced difficulty options. You start small and build over time. Making it possible to have a mission be All AVs, and more than +8 is one small step. They don't need to do it all at once. They can do it a little bit at a time. -
I was following the whole "COH was in secret?!!!!eleventy111!!!!!" story back in 2019 and was miffed reading all of it. Then a few weeks later I find out that COH is alive and open to all in multiple forms. I cried the first time I got into HC's character creator screen. My first thought "welcome home".

An All AV difficulty option, like was suggested a few pages back would be great. -

One solution is more difficulty options that challenges such teams. Another (currently available option) is form your own teams that don't run at max team size. As a related aside, I actually don't understand the need to fill the team to 8 all the time. My favorite PUG team leaders are those that get 4-5, say "good to go" and add more as some folks leave etc. There is not need to run at a full 8 man team all the time. -

Ehhh I don't think there should be any expectation that you need to slot the defense or resistance uniques. Even if you dip into the Set IO pool. The uniques are nice to haves. And definitely not necessary or should be expected that folks have those. Nor should it be expected that you're softcapping defense EVEN if you dip into Set IOs. -

right but that's to do the trials. I should have clarified, I mean how many others do you see doing the actual "solo path" content, like Bill was mentioning he does? -
"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
golstat2003 replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
For me it depends on the game. if it's Demon Souls I'd be on one part of the axis. if it's something like a simple beat em up Super hero simulator like COH I'm on the other. There are certain games I play to get away from it all and turn my mind off, where play is quick and there are few impediments. And there are games I play where I want to be challenged and made to think strategically. I like that there are different games for the type of "gaming mood" you're in. -

It would be cool. I might actually try to build around IOs as I level up, instead of waiting till 50. -

yeah true! I was even referring to before bank missions though. When we all traveled through the Hollows on foot, uphill, both ways. 😛 (yes, that's a boomer/dad joke, sue me)
