[Beta] Patch Notes for April 5th, 2020
Clave Dark 5 replied to Faultline's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
I thought the character's origin also dictates which starting story arcs you get, who you get sent to first? Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing that sort of thing pop up all the way through to 50; especially after what 40 or so? It's all the same stuff on PI, some of which I'd be just as glad to never see again (much like story arcs from 1 to 10 or whatever is for other people). I'm pretty sure that origin boat has sailed though. -
And Rocket helped undo the Thanos snap!

I built one based on the suggestions given in my thread, found here: It's not the strongest pairing, I feel; having to add in a couple of epic or ancillary power pools (Stone Mastery, here) to really complete a build rather than add a few frills sort of feels like cheating to me, plus it meas something of a slog leveling. That said, I have had fun with my toon (she's something of a "main" for me right now) and I hope you do too! I mainly use my toon for Rikti MSR now and based on that and previous experience, the Poison Trap does hold a bunch of procs, but you can never bet on all of them firing, so they often don't add up to a lot. Again, this build didn't feel so strong without a couple of "real" attacks thrown in from Stone Mastery, and even then it doesn't like PWN the whole map in seconds or whatever. Decent enough team player, helpful with AVs or something I guess, there are debuffs, but not like a strong duoing or soloing build. I almost never fire off Mass Hyp with that heal proc in it, there's usually other, better things to do. Following this build above, there's not much else slotted in it, so it often doesn't do a heck of a lot for me. It's best applied in groups as big as you can swing and want another button to mash, but isn't something to like live and die by or to depend upon to save your life. If you have any other questions, please post and I'll do my best to answer them.

Yeah, but that movie wasn't very good and missed the point of Superman.

It's a secret, and I'm pretty sure it's a Nemesis Plot. -
Difficulty in CoH: Community Discussion

Yeah, don't tell me how to play. I hate twitch gaming and don't come here for a problem to bang my head against for hours on end before I can finally have a slim shot at solving it. When the game goes hard it tends to go stupid hard; I just played that one mission against Battle Maiden that has those floating swords and the blue spots of death yeah? My 50 Def with a seriously awesome build got one-shotted a couple of times and dropped within a second or so three times. That's not "fun hard" that's frustration. And not why I'm here. -
All the more reason for it to get fixed then! Do we know of a time ANY dev from HC has ever responded to the topic?

Remove Criticals for Stalkers and VEATs

Aw hell, I missed it huh? Or wait, is this the joke??? -
NPC dialogue is triggered when a player steps foot onto an AE map, rather than when the player gets nearby. Five NPCs? They all speak at once when the player zones. This broke the ability to tell much of a story beyond the average newspaper/radio "go punch these guys." Far as I recall, NPC dialogue has three options to make use of: something like: NPC speaks when the player approaches NPC speaks as the fights the guards around them NPC speaks when the player has defeated the guards [this is approximate; I haven't set foot in AE since the return when I discovered this part was still broken] That's a pretty natural mini-story format right there, but having that first step all get blurted out breaks it. "Writing around the bug" literally means having to work around a broken part of the system; why not fix it instead of writing around it? I wanna use the whole system! Has anyone taken a look into this? Any plans to?

Mid's Reborn: Hero Designer

I think that sounds like an awesome idea. -
I probably shouldn't say anything else as I used to work with them, but yeah.
-
Seems they didn't really make use of the legion of coders and etc. people who wanted to help, like they just banded together and only ran with the ones who stuck around, rather than trying to manage farming out work.

The change for me has been that I find the usual high damage toons, especially melee, are boring somehow, I'm all about control. I even tried a blaster and felt like all I was doing was clicking the same couple of pew pew pews, so he's languished since about level 25. Defenders and controllers are where it's at. I should try a Dom again.

Ooooh, I misread, I thought there was talk of upcoming proc changes. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
-
Proc changes? First I'm hearing of it, can someone fill me in, or point me to a link?
-
Funny that I can still sell them for close to 3 mill though.

I make this mistake at least once per respec, and I hate it.

Also not "metal," but back on Live I had "Dark Inkling", which was the title for a track by the band Coil. She was a *something*/Dark troller, created to take advantage of the then-new Darkness Affinity set.

All that other stuff aside, don't be afraid to get tool around on your new 50 and still play the game. Don't feel pressured to start participating in all the Level-Cap Content just because you're 50 now. You can still run the various TFs and so on, even exemplar down!, knowing that while you play, the stuff you need for the incarnate junk is slowly accumulating (or quickly; I've found Rikti mothership raids to be a nicely zippy path to unlocking the incarnate slots).

Oh hey, how could I forget those "buried Rikti" maps? I love those, they play a bit outside the box of normal maps and have something of a "fancy yet alien" look to them, what with the columns and the glowing tech and so on.
