I'm putting in a vote for Dark Armor, which even allows you to cap Psi resist.

Dark armor is a great set with one glaring weakness.  You will have incredible endurance problems.  I played a DA tank on live, and once I hit 50 and got fully IO'd he was an absolute beast.  The road to 50 was absolute hell.

Doesn't /dark also lack natural KB protection? I know that's easy to fix these days with Karma/Steadfast/Zephyr IOs instead of being forced to take Acrobatics, but its extra slots you need to invest to fill a gap.

Currently playing on Indomitable as @Zork Nemesis; was a Protector native on live.

Yeah, you're right I forgot about that.

Dark Armor is fun but like others have said it has a KB hole and huge endurance management issue.

That sounds like a challenge...

I bet it's possible to negate these problems with enhancements (don't ask me how, but I bet it's possible).

The four that are standout resistance sets I'll always recommend:

Fiery Aura (if tank/brute), Dark Armor (fear can have an effect where the enemies are pretty locked in place for scrappers), Rad (this should be your go-to), or Elec (if tank/brute).

Because this is a SCRAPPER forum, I would highly recommend Rad Armor, it will keep enemies in your AOE/melee range. You can also turn this set into a massive damage proc-monkey. This is an A++ set, but if you can deal with defense, I also recommend Shield Defense. However, again, if you don't want to deal with a defense based set (which I understand, I hate being oneshot/faceplanting without warning), I would 100% go with Rad.

Personally, I don't see Bio as a resist set., because the values are generally much lower than Radiation, Fire, Electric, and Dark.  It belongs in another classification or regen/mixed bag with Regen and WP.  And of those resist sets I would vote for Radiation Armor.

Dark: Most survivable set

Fire: Massively offensive, takes some balancing

Rad: AoE centered, more rounded than Fire, comes with rech

Elec: Solid resistance set, packs a multitude of endurance management tools

Shield, Invulnerability, Bio Armor, and Willpower are blended sets (primary focus in resistances for one thing, defense for the other).

But I'm with @Frosticus on this one, what're you hoping to achieve, what's the goal? Each set has its own strengths and weakness. Technically, with IO's, you can still pack in a ton of defense into resistance based sets, so you're not necessarily giving that feature up by converting over.

I had a Spines/Electric scrapper at 50 on Live and it was a beast.  I went hard for defense on the IO's and ended up very durable apart from some edge cases.  I've never played with Rad so I can't speak for it but the numbers I've seen look good.  Invuln is always good but it's a mixed resist/defense set and Scrapper numbers limit it's durability.

As I recall Electric does need to stay on the ground or it has the same KB issues as Fire and Dark... the KB protection only worked if you were on the ground.  I remember getting knocked back just jumping over a group to get at them from another angle.

Guardian Survivor, occasional tanker and player of most AT's.

Guides: Invulnerability Tankers, The first 20 levels.  Invulnerability Tankers Soft Cap defense

That's correct. I had an elec/elec brute when the set was new, before it got Energize added to replace Conserve Power (lol, so unnecessary). It really wasn't a big issue though, and very seldom actually came up. Unless you wanted to play a flying/hovering character, I wouldn't worry about it; even then a single KB IO would be enough to guarantee no knockdown ever affected you. If you'd like to bathe in the warming light of a Rikti dropship main cannon, electric might be for you. I do think that it benefits from stacking on some defense through your IO build but it's a pretty fun and flashy set.

See me on Excelsior as Eridanus - Whisperkill - Kid Physics - Ranger Wilde - The Hometown Scrapper - Firewatch - and more!

Another vote for Radiation.  Makes everything go faster, and debuff aura keeps the mobs close.  I made a kinetic melee/rad scrapper whose original concept was a speedster.  That doesn't really work so well in game, but the combination has mad synergy and does great working all sorts of procs.

Hrm... DM/Rad... seems tasty.

Death is the best debuff.
